Those trugs are so bloody handy. I've mixed concrete in them, shifted soil in them, used them to hold muddy water in, and they just keep going... as long as you don't try to pick them up when full using the handles.
The magic comes in the spontaneous idea, the mystery, the adventure into the unknown, with no plan, and just winging it. A bit of "Let's just do it." is what makes this so alluring.
Just arrived in thanks to of course Colin. I'm down for the project. It's made in heart after the shear BRAVERY AND TENACITY of pows!! My true heroes. Very damn cool. I'm starting at the beginning. Carry on, Tunnel Dave!
I have no idea who Colin is but…I found you through researching the great escape. Love your channel & and respect for what you’re doing. This grandma from the US says thanks for doing this.😊
Absolutely amazing, fantastic work & engineering, totally love ❤ it... very well done!... will be watching this brilliant project ongoing until completion 😀 .
I would definitely want something a bit more substantial as shoring. Some old miners i used to know told me tales about metal pit props. Trouble with metal is it gives no warning before it gives up. Wood props creak and groan and fail somewhat more gracefully. Is there a way you could add some wooden supports inside the metalwork, or would it make the tunnel too tight?
The peripheral projects are amusing and kinda impressive in the imagination of repurposing. The main tunnel project is terrifying, I'm garenteed going to have tunnel collapse nightmares now! Have you done your sums on the tunnel shuttering and the potential stresses it's under? Anyway best of luck, another follower liked and subscribed!
@@Tornado_Davethe amount of hours you’ll gain if you can mechanically move it out of your way, 1 of those if you had 30 men moving buckets of soil out of your way and 10 people digging you’d at your house in hours 🤓
Hello my fellow Derby man. Or should a I say aye up me duck! :) I reckon between 350-400 tubs to make it! I would love to see this when it’s finished ✅
@@Tornado_Dave I worked on the new Extraction building Project Dove. A firm near the railway line laser cut me about 10,000 different shaped pieces of stainless. Your kit reminded me of the job.
Hope you don’t meet an underground stream, like when my father when he dug out his pit in the garage. It ran the full length, and the only way we stopped it. My uncle required a British rail tarpaulin 😊😅 which stopped the water
Did anyone here watch "Kim Possible" on Disney? There was a villain called "Frugal Luka". He was a cut price villain. His lair was in his mothers basement. 😊😂
If you watch the video on it, it is a shipping container upside down, painted with bitumen. The Section I have cut out is showing no signs of corrosion so all seems good. The roof is concreted and the end where the doors were. I presume it will rust away eventually but we are talking along time in the future and I will have built it bigger before then I’m sure :)
Such a small tunnel that you can only crawl through is going to get old FAST. I'd just dig it full height so you can walk through it to start with, otherwise I think it's just going to be wasted effort
Yes but after monitoring it for 10 years it is very rare for the water level to get higher than the base of the bunker, and I now have the pump fitted to be safe
@tornadomotorsport well done mate it's very interesting, believe it or not I'm doing an assignment in college on the dublin port tunnel and then your video pops up on RUclips 🤣🤣 but il keep watching you mate would love to do a day helping you but I'm in Ireland 🇮🇪 👍
It's pound land Colin Furze, the hero we didn't know we needed. Good luck you mad fella!
Thanks, yes not quite the same budget as Colin’s build
Colin sent me here from Instagram. Awesome project. You boys across the pond get up to some crazy stuff. 😉
Awesome! Thank you! , I appreciate colin helping my channel out, welcome to Tunnel Dave 😀
Me too! Another great looking project.
I just love how those rubber bucket things have become the international standard for back yard digs. Awesome
I just wish I had bought better ones, they are all about wrecked now 😀

We definitely started the project with no real plan in place, seems to be working ok though 😂
@@Tornado_Dave as long as your 'structure' can hold up 3-4 tons it should be fine-ish, at least it'd be a safely slow collapse.
You have some serious skills, between the cad work, fabrication and the physical graft. Respect.
Looking forward to seeing this progress
Thank you very much! Trying to get the balance right of showing how I do it all and keep it watchable 😀
Genius ingenuity. You remind me of Fred Dibnah. Obstacles only increase your capabilities. Love watching your intelligence.
Thankyou for the nice comment, think you will like next weeks video on building a tube roller for spiral staircases
You have came along way since this video well done Dave your a credit to your self 😊

Love how you walk into the well to get in. Quality
When people come round and I say let go down the well they get very confused to start with 😂

Welcome aboard!, most people know colin furze for his crazy videos on here, glad your liking my great escape tunnel 😀
Said I would come back and watch....crazy mad but strangely entertaining.
Glad you like it, good progress on part 3 out next week 😀
Here on recommendations by Colin, subbed for the good content. ✌️
Awesome, thank you!
Love the tunnel man! Great content keep up the good work! The great escape has always been a favorite of mine
Thanks for the support, I have started filming part 2 :)

Yes simple but very effective 😀
Woooo that looks megga. Good work keep it up
You are honesty so smart mate 😂 like a wizard. I’d let T have your knowledge and know how
Thanks for the nice comment 😀
Need a conveyor system or a screw type auger to move the dirt to the surface. Or a large vacuum system.
Good job Dave keep it going it’s good content.
Happy Christmas to you and the family 👍
Thanks, you too!

@@Tornado_Dave well we'll all collectively cross fingers it is then! Lol
Very nice.
why is tunneling so cathartic? every human has the god given natural right to dig a tunnel, and that right shall not be infringed! TUNNEL RIGHTS!
Yes it’s amazing 😂
Colin sent me here ive subbed and liked looking forward to other great projects aswell
Thank you and I have got some cool ones lined up soon 😀the tunnel project is going to become a massive project soon as well as I prepare for stage 2 😀
You’ll probably never read this but, have you thought about using a vacuum to move all that soil? Obviously it would have to be a very powerful 1

This is great! 👏 👏
Why not create pockets in your trousers to get rid of the soil?
I did in one of the later videos 😂
@@Tornado_Dave Spoiler alert
American from KY of the U.S.A watching, love the video man. Awesome idea . Looks like an old well for your bunker tunnel stairs? Love it.
Yes an old ww2 well
Dave, any reason the top is not an arch, I am not an expert it seems it would be more structural.
Just trying to recreate the great escape tunnel and that was flat on the top 😀
Amazing can’t believe this is all happening round the corner from me ! If you need a chuck my pick and shovel are at the ready 😂
Where are you from? 😀
New follower! Can you tell me what trades you have worked in prior to beginning this tunnel?
Welcome aboard, I have spent the last 20+ years making off-road race cars and rollcages, prior to that I did an apprenticeship at rolls Royce.

put a Gasoline post digger on the cart for digging
It would need a long exhaust 😂
maybe I should have watcher the next video before I spoke@@Tornado_Dave
Nice work Colin
Thanks 👍
Maybe i missed it but why so small. Your getting older, eventually its going to be a pain to crawl through it.
I will use the electric tunnel cart to drive down it, there will be no need to crawl 😀
Great video. Has it not dipped in your garden from the soil falling? Keep up the great videos. Looking forward to the next one 😊
Yes Oliver drove his car and now there is a crater
