I bought the Motorrad Connector for my 2017 R1200 GSA. It was a breeze to install and works great. It beats paying $100's more for a Zumo, of which in the USA you need to pay for updates. It does keep the phone charged and if I want to switch to Google Maps or music, I believe I can and the phone still stays charged. It fits the bill.
The app shares a common code base with the new Nav system. The cradle and app as system works great - and is especially useful on older non-tft display bikes that still have GPS prep and control wheel. (Example 2013-2018 R1200GS K50s). The question remains on listening to music or answering phone calls.
After 3 tres with the Nav VI, I switched to a Garmin Zumo XT on my K1600 GTL by mounting it in the Nav slot. It uses the bike’s power, but the wonder wheel doesn’t work with it. I found the Zumo’s features outweigh the wonder wheel, so that’s what I’m still using.
