This is one of the best RUclips channels to exist right now. Complete opposite of the youtuber "meta" in clickbait and hate trains. No bitching, no crying, no death threats to developers. Just celebration, appreciation, and LOVE for the games we play to enjoy. The real meaning of what "Fandom" was before we lost ourselves in replacing empathy with popularity contests. I hope this bright side of the internet can say with us and thrive for a very long time, because this is the type of stuff we all need way more of these days. 💖

The reason spark wants just chiefs head at 19:00 is because that's where cortana's data chip is, he still needs to get the index from her and to destroy it would be 'absolutely unacceptable'

  • @agentrhode6360
    @agentrhode6360 8 месяцев назад +49

At the end of Halo 3, that last scene, what I love about it, is that they're still in mortal danger, the Halo ring is going off in the background and it could kill both Chief and Cortana, but neither of them care, all that matters is that they're together, Chief blocks the ring from Cortana's view and the only thing he's looking at is her.
Another thing: in Halo 3 and 4, you can see how anxious he is, between Cortana being lost, his concern for both her and Johnson, and in 4, Cortana dying before his eyes with nothing he can do about it. In CE and 2 he's in complete control. no doubts, but he's so anxious you can feel it in the way he talks and moves, just like how you pointed it out, and the only time he relaxes during this time frame is after he gets Cortana back in H3. During 4, you can tell he's never been in that kind of situation before, he's never had someone he loves dying with him so helpless, so he does the only thing someone with his emotional development can do, he clings to her, desperately, hoping beyind hope that she can be saved, that something can be done. He never had the chance to be human, he was taken at 6 and forced to fight, he never got the chance to love or grieve anyone outside his fellow soldiers. It shows.
In ODST you can see how Buck keeps thinking about Dare, half the time, when someone asks him a question, he's really giving two answers with one, and you can see how he settles down a lot after he reunites with Dare.
In the beginning of Reach, when Emile aggressively orders the farmers to their knees, it's subtle but its a nod ot his role, one of the concept Spartans, Rosenda, was slated to take Emiles place on the team if they ever had a counter-Insurrection operation, because he displayed extraordinary aggression toward Insurrectionists, for reasons I can't remember off the top of my head, so to have him be so rough with little more than a poossible rebel is a nice detail. (Jun was the one saying the "don't we have more important things to do than pick up strays" at the beginning, not Emile). A note to make, when Jorge rested his hand on Six's shoulder at Sword base, Six is framed in the EXACT SAME SPOT on screen as he is in the scene where he looks over the wreckage of the Covenant ship after having just lost Jorge and fallen from orbit. There's a lot to talk about with Reach that I couldn't do justice alone, the people playing and reacting to this game speak for me, check out Kai Zammit, film cinematographer who really hits all the points I would love to have the education to talk about.
Something that is so overlooked is the emotional subltlety of Halo. Between what I talked about with Chief in 3, 4, 5, and Infinite, of Noble Team and the cinematographic choices in Reach, and the entire atmophere in Halo ODST.
Moving away from the grandeur, in ODST, that little detail of Dare taking her finger of the trigger the moment she realizes it's Rookie and the Superintedent's eyes changing to show emotions, like showing concern or joy or irritation, to outright anger, and then when it finally crashes, the eyes are closed.

The thing I’d say about chief and Cortana is it’s more intimate than that, though not romantic
Because of the way they interface between the suit and each other they become interlinked and it’s described as quite a personal experience due to that (this might sound odd, but as an example Cortana actually enhanced chiefs reaction speed)
He’s seen civilians and soldiers die, people he grew up with die, but he’s never had true intimacy, and while it isn’t romantic between the two, it was chiefs first time being vulnerable (Cortana can also read chiefs mind, and I think talk to her in his head too)

This video is reminding me of when my friend and I played through C:E to H3, he had never played an FPS game in his life, he stuck to mainly Nintendo games and a few niches, I was playing FPS like Halo and Destiny 1 and 2 since I was like 13, so he asked me to teach him and play with him, so we did. We stayed up until 3 AM playing Halo 3 as Arbiter and Chief and that game was so phenomenal in having us work on teamwork, coordination, communication, trust, and patience as we played, on the final level we kept dying and learning, we finally beat after I said, "You drive, I shoot." We were tired college kids on Winter break just having fun drinking wine and staying up late playing games. God I miss him.

A little comment on Captain Del Rio:
According to the old head of ONI, Margaret Parangosky, Del Rio was put in command specifically because he was a wet blanket. He always followed protocol, never deviated, and kept a tight ship. He was rigid old brass, which made FLEETCOM more comfortable with him as commander of the super top secret project that was Inifinity and her maiden voyage. In reality, Parangosky wanted Lasky to be in command, but with his low rank and inexperience commanding larger vessels, she compromised with FLEETCOM and had him apointed as second under Del Rio in order to gain the experience necessary to take over as Captain.
In the end, Del Rio's time aboard Infinity would most likely have ended after the maiden voyage, but things went differently.
On his assholishness, Del Rio is obviously a quintisential bully. He used his position in the military to justify his authority, something common among poor officers. He's also by-the-book, because that's his basis for his power. So when a Master Chief Petty Officer, a senior NCO in the navy, not only directly disobeys him but uses threatening body language to defend and obviously rampant security risk on what is obviously a suicide mission, Del Rio falls back on the only thing he's got: his command.

A couple of Fun Facts About Halo as I watch this:
    Halo CEA
    1. The NPC at the start that is with Chief in the tutorial area is supposedly a make-a-wish (Cannot find info to confirm but I saw it on a TikTok) Ill confirm this later
    2. The Marines that die in the escape pod with Chief were originally scripted to live and follow Chief but in testing would always fall off the bridge so Bungie Killed them
    3. The Cutscene at 12:02 is actually missable.
    4. 13:33 Before you enter the structure you can actually see "The Flood" combat forms in the distance.
    5. The Library was actually not originally visited by just Chief. There is another Marie (forget his name) that is cannon that Guilty Spark chose to get the index. He almost made it before dying to The Flood. (Magnificent Bastard)
5.5 The Library is my Favorite CE Level cause I'm a Mashocist
    6. All Halos were strategically Deployed Near Worlds that are uninhabitable. The Forerunners did this to ensure no one species could get a leg up in tech early on.
    7. 20:36 That is a Proto Gravemind (Baby more or less) there is actually a horrifying Halo Video (Waypoint) that shows Keyes slow descent into this form and how hard he really tried to resist the flood and becoming one of them.
    8. There is an Elite and Grunt that you kill just before going up an elevator to get a Hog to make your dash to the end of the game. This pair had actually been hunting chief all game.
    9. 24:11 At the end of this Dash it is actually explained in a book that right before Chief boards the longsword is one of the few times he truly felt fear. A Flood Infection form actually was moment away from breaking his armor and infecting him. However, Cortana overloaded his shields thus killing it.
    10. There is a Legendary Ending cutscene showing Johnson hugging an elite before the Autumn Explodes. Johnson actually does survive with a few others aboard a Pelican they managed to get to space. Johnson also survived a flood infection earlier in the game. This is due to him being in the Spartan One program and the augmentations altering his DNA making him impossible to infect.
    11. Some modders manipulated the camera back when CE came out to try and see Chief's face only to see when he took off his helmet that his face was his helmet.
    Halo 2
    1. 26:30 that power supply that Marine throws down is actually a Nod to Fact Number 9 above for CE and Two Betrayals. The reason it is fried is due to Chief and Cortana using his shield to disable those arrays in Two Betrayals and Cortana having to overload Chief's shields.
    2. Johnson is Canonically in Halo 2 77/78 years old
    3. 30:45 The Covenant Capital Ship Chief destroys is MASSIVE (17,540 ft roughly) and can house tens of thousands of crews. As well this ship was originally going to be a level for you to destroy from the inside but was cut due to time.
    4. 31:13 Pelicans are the UNSC main mode of Transport for personal and armaments. They are favored due to the ability to go from planet to space fairly easily. However, they were not built to withstand covenant weapons and thus why they get shot down so easily
    5. 32:19 Johnson has Canonically fucked
    6. The Invasion on Earth was legit an accident. Regret was just kinda out for a stroll and well Earf
    7. 32:54 Shortly after this bridge there are a few tunnels you go through and if you manage to take a banshee through them you can fly to an area and obtain a Scarab Gun
    8. 33:47 In Lore Brutes, Jackals and grunts have been observed eating humans
    9. 34:00 The Grunt Rebellion Mentioned here, is important. In CE you mentioned how the Elites think of the Grunts. Before CE at one point Grunt were literally slave labor and cannon fodder. However, the Grunts got tired of it and rebelled. Almost Dismantling the Covenant. It Actually took the partial glassing of their home world to stop them. From then on, the Grunt gained respect. their own ranks and the ability to carry weapons into battle. The elites really respected them after that.
    10. 36:23 Half of the Shipmasters mandibles are missing. This is due to his previous run-in with the flood where an infection form ripped them off iirc
    11. 41:45 The VA who does The Gravemind actually did that voice with no effects added. Super talented but also creepy. (Side note: The Gravemind is my Hear me out of the Halo Franchise)
    Halo 3
    1. 50:15 The Intro with Johnson actually has a few different lines of dialogue depending on the difficulty!
    2. 53:35 Just like the intro there are a few different dialogues here depending the difficulty. One of them Being between Geoff and Gus of RoosterTeeth (RvB) also RIP
    3. 55:23 This is Obviously a different scarab Model. This Model is actually piloted by the same worms the hunters are made of and the crew aboard were usually only there to protect it.
    4. 57:32 At the beginning of this mission. There is a flood combat form on the top of a building that is holding a skull. If you don't shoot them fast enough you can actually miss getting the skull.
    5. If you let a flood form hop on a marine or elite with no shields you can watch them transform into a flood combat form. Showing you have fast the infection really is at the stage of the Flood
    6. 1:02:09 Here we can see Truth actually infected by the flood but not in the typical way (infection form) Truth was infected by "spores" which can be breathed in and infect you
    7. High Charity (iirc) house TRILLIONS of covenant and fell within about a day (iirc) showing you just how dangerous the flood is.
    8. Also High Charity is a Literal Piece of the Prophets home world
    9. 1:05:44 The Actual secret was the Index and that she has something that could effectively starve him (The Gravemind). Her having that signals to The Gravemind that he has not won yet.
    10. The Events of Halo CE to Halo 3 happen within a few months
    Halo 3 ODST
    1. The Rookie is Unfortunately canonically Dead :c
    2. 1:14:19 If you look closely you can actually see the In Amber Clad alongside the Capital Ship before it goes into slip space.
    3. While New Mombasa is the only place in games that we get to see on Earth being invaded by the Covenant, the Covenant also visited Antarctica and the UK.
    4. 1:17:00 Romeo actually doesn't answer Buck whenever they meet up in the flashback. Even though Buck asks him something directly. It's a nod to Buck telling him to shut his mouth as a ""Standing order" Fucking smartass.
    5. 1:20:00 On this mission if you collected all of the audio logs there is a bonus "side" story you can complete
    Halo Reach
    1. The Opening is Iconic and really is an in-your-face of "Ha you ain't making it" ALSO NOBLE SIX IS DEAD. THEY ARE DEAD DEAD DEAD. NOT IN A FLIPPING CAVE OR WHATEVER. Stop it.
    2. 1:25:15 Kat actually lost her arm in another battle before Reach. There is a trailer showing the battle and the Previous Noble Six.
    3. 1:25:55 The reason Emile is so aggressive is due to his history with Insurgents. This is shown here with this dialogue. The dude really HATES the insurgents and was even taken off teams meant to fight them due to his brutality
    4. 1:30:13 This cutscene confused a lot of people when Halsey addressed Jorge. Most people believe he said "Mom" but he actually said "Ma'am" it was just due to his accent that it tricks the brain. However, Mom does make sense due to his history with her.
    5. 1:39:40 There is an easter egg that if you do you can actually Pilot a Pelican for the entire mission. Really fun!
    6. 1:43:12 If you hold Right(?) on your thumb stick or move the mouse right in the shot with the pelican entering the Autumn you can see a Spartan in a Cryo Pod. That is Linda.
    7. Once again Noble six lovers, they are dead. Stop it. Get some help. Therapy. pls

      Halo 4 & 5
      1. The Line "I need you" is a Call back to Halo 3 of "Wake me when you need me"
      2. Halo 5 (Podcast Hunt the Truth) This and the Marketing around Halo 5 story are the reason Halo 5 left a sour taste in a lot of people's mouths regarding Halo and 343. Halo 5 is not a bad game. The story is Okay and expands a few things (Granted them killing the Didact offscreen was dumb) and the Multiplayer was fantastic and had some of THE GREATEST after-launch support any Halo has ever had. EVER! Even the microtransactions weren't terrible as everything could be unlocked through playing and the Req packs were programmed to never give you doubles of armor pieces.
      3. 2:18:29 This cutscene gets A LOT of heat due to what is essentially a dumbed-down chief fighting Locke. In Cannon Chief Critically injured 3 ODSTs in a sparring match in his TEENS and on ACCIDENT. All without armor. While I don't hate this scene it is just very unlikely Chief wouldn't have been hit as such. However, if you look in the beginning of Infinite, you'll notice how gentle Chief is with marines' bodies vs a banished body. So, looking back this could just be chief pulling his punches so as to not Critically injure Locke.
      Halo Infinite
      1. 2:30:30 This scene shows a banished ship plowing through the Infinity. What's interesting is most Banished ships do not have shields and actually have more armor and firepower. Making them slow and not as maneuverable.
      2. Something to note about the Grapple is I believe it was Neil Degrasse Tyson who said that the grapple makes no sense as it would be impossible to both be able to pull things to you and pull yourself to it as it wouldn't be strong enough considering Chiefs weight in the suit. 3. 2:34:40 During this somewhere Cortina says "It's just dust and echoes" a call back to Halo CE
      3. There is an achievement for completing all main missions in less than 8(? or is it 6?) hours. In Cannon that is how long the game actually is. Chief woke up and dismantled what was left of the Banished on that part of Zeta Halo in 6-8 Hours.
      4. 2:38:21 The Flood is actually on every Halo ring. Including Zeta. The forerunners did this to study The Flood in the hopes of finding a cure versus a genocidal solution. However, each Monitor never knew about this nor the location of other rings as well as interstellar travel and such to prevent the flood from escaping the rings in the event of an outbreak. Also canonically in the Multiplayer story of Infinite the flood has infected Spartan IVs

Fun fact with Halo 2: In the part where Keyes gets the Index, in the original graphics she uses the Gravemind's tendril to grab it and the gravemind moves his tendril to try and kill keyes since she had the index but Johnson saved her by grabbing the tendril which makes sense since the flood are there and its inside the quarentine zone and the gravemind doesn't want Halo to be activated, its also why the Arbiter is with the Gravemind and the Master Chief when he gets blasted down the hole by Tartarus. In the remastered graphics its a rope/wire instead of the gravemind's tendril and it just so happens to come loose. I LOVE the Blur animations and cutscenes but this one detail is a pet peeve of mine cus it removed the environmental storytelling of the scene.

what bothered me the most with the Halo CE review was that you never metioned how the world is reacting to you/your decisions.
For example if your on the PoA and shoot Keyes security gets called to kill you, Cortana does it. They game devs knew gamer, they know some would try it and do stupid stuff. They could go the lazy route and just make it impossible for you to hurt them or shoot on the bridge, but they didnt.
The same in the Halo level, if all Marines die the dialog changes, each time, Marines turn on you but not asap when you shoot at them, such small things make the world believeable and i love how they thought about such stuff. Cant save the marines? Cortana gets a sad tone to be empathic with Chief becuz she shows it bothers him but doesnt go to deep.
I really miss such details, this extra mile, those things make good games to great games, even decades later.

56:21 one of the best cutscenes in Halo. This is my favorite cutscene also I agree that cutscene is so badass that is basically just Halo the cutscene. Also the human and elite alliance was so freaking cool. Seeing Rtas come in the Shadow of Intent was so cool. Also Rtas has the coolest most badass lines in the entire series. “One single floor spore can destroy a species.”, “Our fight is through the portal with the brutes and the bastard Truth.”, And “Then it is an even fight. Burn their mongrel hides.” All three lines are so freaking awesome. I honestly think Halo 3 is the absolute best of the games. It had the best soundtrack, the coolest cutscenes, the best voice lines, and such a good story. It’s why it’s my favorite. Also I freaking love the scene where High Charity just arrives to the Ark out of nowhere. Rtas gives an epic line “Now prophet, your end has come.” And then he gives the eerie line “High Charity? By the gods brace for impact!” Anyone who played Halo 2 or listened to the Elites talking to Arbiter would know High Charity is completely full of Flood potentially billions of Flood. Arbiter has such badass lines when you confront Truth. I am Truth, the voice of the Covenant. “And so you must be silenced.” And “We trade one villain for another.” Both are so cool lines. And the ring rising from the forge is just so cool. The epic version of the Halo theme plays as the monumental ring rises from the forge. It also really gives you a sense of scale. The ring is absolutely massive. 1:37:51 that scene is where you know you are losing Reach. You see the effort it took to destroy one ship and now there is an entire fleet that has replaced it. And it stings even more knowing Jorge sacrificed himself thinking he saved Reach only for his death to be immediately in vain. I loved the levels in New Alexandria because it was really hitting home just how bad this war was for humanity. You see dead civilians everywhere, you see civilians being killed, you see civilian ships being shot down mercilessly. And then when you fly in the falcon you see the city completely ablaze the fires burning so bright that it lights the night sky. You see buildings collapsing and smoke rising from the city. And then the amazing environmental storytelling where you see Covenant cruisers flying over the city and then you see them glass the city. It really hits hard seeing them just glass the planet right in front of you and you are powerless to stop them. After Kat’s death you actually see civilians in that bunker. They witnessed a Spartan die and that’s one thing civilians are never supposed to see. If you have subtitles you can see the civilians are scared. They just saw one of humanity’s best soldiers die just like that. It really hits hard because it shows even the civilians are hopeless. And the lines Kat gives shortly before really hit hard. “First Glassing? Me too.” as she misses the elevator button shows she is scared. It humanizes her a ton. And “I know we’re losing I want to know if we have lost.” Just stings because deep down you are thinking the same thing. You know everyone in that room is think the same thing. Fun fact with the last level. The frigate in the ship breaking yard is the same ship from The Fall of Reach movie. The UNSC Commonwealth aka the ship that was carrying all of the Spartan IIs when it was attacked by a Covenant cruiser. It’s a cool callback.

You sir have done several things I thought impossible.
Firstly, you brought new perspective in to a 14 year old franchise. And it was somehow an outside perspective.
You managed to also talk about the later entries in a positive light, and actually made 343's story telling look half decent.
Somehow you also got me hopeful and almost excited to see what 343 can do.
Finally you actually made me feel... something. Don't know how to put it in to words other than "when you finish the last book in a long series that, while it may not have been the ending you wanted, was the perfect ending."
I need to go back and play halo again... just not on legendary. I can't begin to think about how long it has been since I just played halo for the sake of playing halo. No skipping cut scenes, no shortcuts, no fancy moves or optimal strats. Just pure halo. Maybe actually let myself be blinded by its majesty for the first time in a long time.

I might have to make a few comments throughout the video, but at 8:41 I have two thoughts. 1. Rings in sci-fi probably started as a way to deal with the lack of gravity. If a ring spins it can imitate gravity if you stand on the inside. Eventually it just became a trope and we don’t even have to justify it.
The second thing is that the assault rifle in this game sounds fantastic to use, but they use the vibrating function on your controller so when you have that feature enabled it would literally shake your hand. I don’t know how to convey how awesome it felt, but I do think that this fact could be lost to the ages if not archived.

In Reach, it's likely that the Elite Marshall you face right before you reach the MAC Cannon is the one that leads the squad of them at the start of the game (and probably the same one that kills Kat). Evidence got this is that he has a slightly stronger shield compared to the other Elite Field Marshalls in the game, and he has unique behaviour where he switches from Concussion Rifle to Energy Sword the first time his shield is broken. He's kind of your personal nemesis throughout the game.

"This one throwaway line about Reach sparking a whole game later on, despite us knowing nothing about Reach"
"If CE was written into a book or a film, everyone would HATE it"
Halo: The Fall of Reach and Halo: The Flood😐 (TFOR released before Halo CE, The Flood at the same time i believe)
For anyone who hasn't read the books, The Flood is a much more detailed form of CE, in novel form, going over the Chief's perspective, as well as some of the marines on the Halo while Chief was fighting, and an added storyline not shown in game with an elite hunting the Chief throughout the book (told through the perspective of his grunt assistant.)
The Fall of Reach, on the other hand, is possibly one of my favorite books of all time. The movie sharing the same name is based on the first Act of this book and does not actually show the Fall of Reach literally at all, but the rest of the book does show the battle for Reach from the perspective of the Spartan IIs. Phenomenal book, not connected to Reach, which tells of what went on before the book's battle as the Covenant arrived, cloaked, to set up an invasion force, shown through the eyes of Six and Noble Team as they fight to prevent the Fall. Canon breaks a little, but all media of Reach is canon and with some retconning of times and dates, can plausibly exist at the same time
I suggest reading these, as well as Halo: Ghosts of Onyx and Halo: First Strike. These two are what I would consider to be the other two best written books, followed by the Kilo-5 Trilogy (Halo: Glasslands, Halo: The Thursday War, and Halo: Mortal Dictata), books which heavily display the black-ops side of the UNSC, as well as the political war between the UNSC and ONI. Phenomenal series as well, and worth much more of a read than I described without spoiling.

Halo is THE game that got my brother and I into gaming. Besides my father being a gamer himself, I am thankful Halo had co-op. It’s also incredibly cool it did. We were so invested into the story and gameplay. Besides superheroes, kid me would act like Chief. We first started with Halo:CE and onward. Haven’t played CE since 2006 when I was 3, and now JUST replaying it with the MCC is a pure wholehearteded experience especially 2’a Anniversary (just finished it, can’t wait for 3. My favorite as a kid.). Really wished a movie/show in that style of the cutscenes were made with Blur Studios, also THATS how you do a remaster cutscene and gameplay wise. My brother also bought it, so we could play once again especially whilst he is in the Air Force. Halo is such a core part of my life. I fell off at Reach, but it’s amazing to see Halo again after all these years.
Another win, which is a major win, I’d say is that originally Chief was gonna be a robotic voice till they hired Downes. I pray no other alternate universe has anyone voice Chief besides Downes.

Halo CE was actually transcribed into a book, and it's just as good as a book as it is as a game. And of it was ever faithfully adapted into a show, it would be just as good. Especially if they use the books version as it adds more characters and helps with context of many things.

Ive played the original 3 with my dad and brothers, ODST came out on my birthday, and Reach i played the beta for, my dad got the special edition, and he passed away on my birthday so i never got a chance to play it with him. Years later i would eventually beat ODST and Reach on my own. But these games make me feel so special, i love the Halo series and im sad i have fallen off with the series after 5.
Another sad thing with Reach, it was supposed to be largest and strongest world next to Earth itself, yet it fell and was lost to almost ease for the Covenant. The sheer hopelessness for Reach is just overwritten by Halo's story that 117 won.

But "Save his head" makes light-years more sense and actually makes the dialogue just that more badass...

I still love the line in Halo 3 "Shipmaster! They outnumber us 3 to 1, then it is an even fight" just such a good line

Something I love about Halo 2 that is sorely lacking from other entries is how "all out" they went with the music to lessen the sting of how much content was scrapped and rewritten. Nothing emphasizes that "all out" -ness more than getting Incubus to do the Arbiter flying section in OG and then getting Misha Mansoor (the guitarist behind Bulb and Periphery) to do the Remastered version, and then doing it again during Master Chief's journey through High Charity with Breaking Benjamin for OG and once again Misha Mansoor doing Remastered.
I've always wanted to see 343 (and in conjunction, Bungie, for Destiny) use bands for music again, especially Breaking Benjamin.

Halo is a game you have to play multiple times just to catch all the details. Sometimes I still learn new things I didn’t know I could about the well detailed lore behind vignettes and subtle dialogue

15:44, I always interpreted it as either: A: He was curious where Cortana was since this was the last place he left her and is surprised everything looks the same despite him leaving her in the computer. B: He's mystified since he fought through hordes of Covenant to get to this control room earlier with all his marine pals on the tank and now the floating orb just teleported them into it like it was nothing.

Its SO refreshing to see people appreciate 343. It really is. They ARE great fps devs. Incredible even. So much of the hate is pure personal preference and a refusal to accept change alongside selective blindness. Some people to this day pretend reach is just like the other games that came before for some reason.

Great video I also agree with the cortana slowdown sections I’m a story buff so I absolutely love those. It just adds to the feeling. Kinda had tears during the end of the halo3 part.

My wife plays Playstation, I play PC/Xbox. I remember playing the demo for Halo as my first M rated game.
It was magical. The only other game to do that was Mass Effect, but that was years later.
I'm trying to convince my wife to play "The Silent Cartographer" on my computer in retro because of that.

1:46:44 IIRC those reasons for why master chief's armor looked different then CE/Halo 3 was originally just because of the art style change. But fans got upset at that so they tried to come up with an explanation even if it made no sense.

Emile was such a badass, dude had an animation where his shotty would run out, so he grabs his kukri in and advancing in cqc, dude was such a pimp getting what from his lower chest down getting paralyzed from the energy sword going through his spine, dude had the energy and will to kill his attack and look him in the face while he did it. He was also kinda overwhelmed too. It was more than the one zealot that was there.

Thats because its a living creature. There are hunter worms in the scarsb and they are piloting it. Then theres a squad on the scarab to not only defend it, but to keep them in check.

I don't hate John's armor in 4, I just wish they'd handled it differently. Like, kept it consistent with his armor from 3 until you get taken aboard he Infinity. Have a cutscene of the old armor being taken off and the new armor being put on. That would've been great. But they just handwave it. Also the Forward Unto Dawn being a completely different ship design in 4 from 3. It was a Paris class frigate in 3, with those big, chunky engine nacelles on the side. In 4, it's basically just a big tube.
Everything else in 4, I love, aside from the new models for the grunts and elites. But, they at least decide to return to form more in Infinite and bring back their more refined, almost noble look with the elites an the grunts don't look like malformed, diseased monsters. I thought the new jackals in 4 were interesting, which is also alright because the jackals have never been one single species, 'jackal' is just more of a common title given to the raptor-like races within the covenant, and they're treated as such in lore. And I loved seeing the feathery, skirmisher style ones from Reach (Ta'vaoans, as opposed to the Kig'Yar seen in 1-3) returning in Infinite. 343 has shown they're willing to listen and give the long time fans back what they loved about he visual identity of the series.

I also love that Halo 5 went more into Sangheili culture without the oppressive influence of the Covenant. But... it's sill soured by the species redesign. Though, I do like the depiction of their culture, architecture, an new vehicle aesthetic, it gives them more personality that we didn't get to see before and I'm glad it made it into a game... even if it's the worst game in the series.
Also I do like the mobility and an ADS system and a few other gameplay features they brought it. And making hunters feel like an actual threat.

Halo CE was actually in development for 4 years. Bungie originally intended to make a Mac-Exclusive RTS game. Microsoft bought Bungie between 2000 and 2001 they re-developed the game into an FPS. So this version of the game was made in about 18 months because it was suddenly made a Launch title for the Xbox.

1:07:57 Definitely the most beautiful shot in the game possibly all of the Bungie produced Halo trilogy, Chief standing with Cortana in front of him and the Ark in the background with ironically a Halo ring for once firing in the background when in every other game the absolute most drastic of measures were taken to prevent this, now becomes thier saving grace

Just a little +1 for me about halo, I’ve watched all of RvB (Red vs Blue) by Rooster Teeth, sad to see them go, but those 2 are voice actors from the series (Tucker and Doc) and every time I replay that mission in halo 3 I always stop by and listen to them. 53:32
