    I have watched a lot of youtube videos for research for getting a blue tongue, and your channel has definitely been the most resourceful! Thank you, and keep it up!

    I was just recently at the smithsonian zoo, and they had a display cohabbing two kimberley rock monitors, a shingleback skink, and an ackie in an enclosure that was maybe 6'x3'x3'. The zookeeper said they've been together around 5 years. As someone who has kept both community cichlid tanks and reptiles individually, I find reptile people to be quick to assume cohabbing won't work out. I think having species inhabit different areas of the enclosure, different diets to minimize food competition, enough space, starting them young, and carefully monitoring temperaments goes a really long way in successful cohabbing. Im curious what others' thoughts are, though. I would love to cohab a kimberley rock monitor and a blue tongue skink in the future.

    Actually, from what I have heard everything has feelings. Even bugs apparently or at least a analog of feelings. More than likely the BTS have them just in a different way from people.

      +valcan321 Very true many animals have the ability to feel and assess their surroundings. Its the emotional process that they lack. Check out Episode 22 which is on this very topic. :-)

    I think you’re so informative but I wish you knew how to edit your videos so where it’s short and sweet and not so lengthy and not having to hear you pause and think about what you’re going to say next.

    Its an " animal soap opera" just as we humans are animals and life in drama ^.^
    Disposition is a key.
    4 the record I only rave animal soap operas vs. Our own u.u
    I love this topic, considering even more I've owned different species or reptiles and now I have just purchased my very first skink.
    My fav lizard so far besides my 2 male leopards I've previously owned.

    Do you think that two skinks would do fine in separate tanks next to each other without a barrier blocking their sight? I know some lizard species can’t look at other reptiles because it stresses them out and I’m getting another skink soon, but I’m not sure if it be fine if they’re housed next to each other.

      It should be fine. If it gets bad just put up a visual barrier even a piece of paper would work

    What species would you recommend if I were to keep with my female irian jaya blue tongue if I were to do so?

    • @ReptileMountainTV
      @ReptileMountainTV  3 года назад +1

      Possibly a forest dragon species or some Papuan gecko species in a larger set up. I don’t recommend it to anyone who isn’t fully skilled and experienced (aka has work with several animals over several years) in understanding behaviors of all species involved.

      Interesting, how many brothers have you kept without incident? I ask because I know of brothers and sisters that nearly killed one another. One of the males is permanently damaged from it.

      I wouldn't personally keep two males together regardless of relation. The risk would be elevated considerably.
