Thanks for sharing. I feel like this is a natural process we go through when our noses become more refined. There are countless popular fragrances that mean nothing to me now. 🌹
@J.C. Awesome content... super impressive with the distinctive approach. What you are sharing from your perspective has definitely motivated me to jump in the collector pool. Just purchased Dior Homme Intense along with a few other gems. Haven’t reached the point where I want to jump in front of camera, but seeing you and a couple other culturally colored vloggers have certainly given me the inspiration to start doing my homework and consider it in some capacity. Nevertheless, much appreciation for what you do and all the others out there. Going to check out the Parfum Vintage; any suggestions on some good starters? FYI, I’m curious about the Sillage of Unicorns and a variation of the Aventus (more pineapple & vanilla w/less smokey woods)
Your neighbors got such a good smelling and and a classy neighbor! Now to introduce yourself right from the start pick up your trumpet and play it night time
Great video, man. I can empathize with some of your choices, especially the Bleu de Chanel and Sauvage. Once you've smelled so many great scents from niche and indie houses, you tend to go back to these and just react like, "Meh. I'm not liking this" and kind of let them go. I can attest to the ADG dilemma, too, as I wasn't too much of a fan of that one and thought it was pretty substandard. Plus, the ADG DNA kind of offends my nose for some reason, like it smells cheap or something. But yeah, good list, man. Always love your stuff. :)
Glad you went with The One EDP. It is so much richer and deeper. I smelled it first and then I smelled the EDT. There is no way I was going to buy the EDT. The EDP just blew me away the first time I tried it!! Love it. I can understand getting rid of some of these frags for sure. I like to revist them now and again, like BDC Parfum. When I check it out again, I love it. But I don't wear it all the time like I use to.
Bleu de Channel, EDT and Versace pour homme Dylan Blue: after using 2 bottles of each I realized that there was something that didn't quiet go well with me. So for fresh fragrances, I now go for Boucheron pour homme, Versace pour homme or Allure Sport
I enjoy my frags and I do own some of the ones you got rid of (e.g. JPG LeMale, Prada L'homme, ADG Profumo). However, I got a little tired of A&F First Instinct Extreme DNA, Lalique Encre Noire Sport and also Salvatore Ferragamo Uomo Casual Life DNA. Gave away the first two and soon I'll probably give away Uomo Casual Life. I must say I really do enjoy Prada L'homme!!! Great vid man 👊🏽👌🏽👍🏽
Hey man! This is the first video of yours that I see, YT recommended it to me. Immediately gained a new subscriber. Your entire vibe is so chill, relaxed, calm. Watching you talk about fragrances was almost like meditation! Very very nice to see that and I'll definetly check out more of your Videos after this one!
I like and own edp but after trying the parfum version, I prefer it over the edp. It focuses more on the woods than the citruses and that's a perfect ratio for me.
Started passing bottles of to my Pops. I stopped by the folks house the other day and could smell him from outside. Hawthorne Work smelled amazing on him as I expected. Felt a little strong for me.
Well, u know I love your reviews man... You definitely the BEST! Well I own hundreds of bottles but for me 🙂🙂... I've never gotten rid of a Fragrance that I onced loved.... It's just always a keeper for me... whether for memories or just because it smelt great and still does 😃. Yes I'm always looking for richer, deeper depth in Fragrances.... But if it smelled good then (which was my reason for buying) it still smells good now to me...... Keep up the good work J. Your the best bruh!!!
I will never be without Mugler. Almost pulled the trigger on OV, about 3 months ago Costco had it on sale for $125, I sent it back. Most say Mugler is almost spot on so I purchased a 10.2 for $80. No regrets.
Not wanna brag but yesterday I decided to spend some money and got that axe alaska body spray. So i could pretty much be considered a conoisseur at this point.
Being new to the fragrance game I smelled Dior Sauvage for the first time 4 months ago and I LOVED it. I read comments that it is not good because everyone in wearing it. This makes no sence. Just for the record, I dont kk ow anyone who wears it.
Another terrific classy video. I've never owned or even smelled any of these but I did get rid of about 100 fragrances last year (including some minis and decants). Like you said in your fragrance journey, some scents lose their appeal and others get replaced by better versions. I bought a lot of what I sold in the beginning of collecting and as my nose developed so many of them lost their appeal, especially as I got into niche and higher end. But I even sold some Chanel exlusivs which is a pretty big deal. I regret a few of the sales because they are discontinued now and are regarded as unicorns in the fragrance world now but for the most part it was the right move. The fragrances I've replaced them with and acquired since are far superior. And now have a ton of samples and a few bottles that I need to get rid of! If you're interested in trying some cool niche stuff let me know. I have half a dresser full! Tons of unisex.
Wow, that's quite a purge. I was in the same boat, Lara. Got rid of almost 80 fragrances a couple years ago. I'm definitely interested in the niche fragrances you have in your dresser...lol
I'm new to fragrances (less than a year). I want to avoid falling down the rabbit hole of buying everything based on influencers recommendations. You've helped me realize that I want to find 10 or so frags that I'm crazy about. Would you recommend starter sets from Niche houses? Mancera for example. Any other houses I should consider for sample sets?
I love your channel more than Jeremy's videos (he's too hyped up). I just got D&G's the One EDP and LOVE it. Looks like you and I have well moisturized skin, which makes it last all day. Great suggestion and it's my go-to next to Dior Fahrenheit. 👍🏼
Good list, agree with a lot of it. Bleu de Chanel and Sauvage are soooo dull, uninspiring and over-rated. Prada l'homme I really like, but once Ive finished my bottle I probably won't replace it. Not sure I get your not needing CH Men for La Nuit though haha :) La Nuit is obviously so much better, but I wear them for different occasions. And I just have never liked any Amouage scent I have tried (Jubilation, Reflection, Interlude, and one other I cant remember)....I just dont think they are for me.
Congrats on the new digs brother... Onwards & upwards. I've not done so yet but am about to do a cleansing of redundant fragrances & like yourself a lot of the designer freshies will go first I think, like the Sauvages, & the Armani's & the CH Men Prive & Invictus Aqua & maybe Chanel's BDC EDP but I do love that fragrance a lot so not sure if I'm ready to part with that just yet. I did get rid of my Ferragamo F Black & my Prada L'Homme L'eau but I do have the OG L'Homme & also Dior Homme which I may get rid of even though I love it but I love the Intense & the Parfum more so and they for me are Designer masterpieces especially in the cold weather we have here in the UK. I have a few niche fragrances now and I think I'm leaning more on that path although I'm also a fan of the Tom Ford private blends which are arguably niche? One designer, well originally a glassware designer fragrance release that I'd slept on for years but have finally bought a bottle is Lalique's Encre Noire A L'extreme, I think this a great cheapie, picked it up for like £27 which is roughly $35 great fragrance for the price & one I'm using as a daily wear at the minute.
Its a hard pursuit to only keep what you love and let go of what you like. It might seem a little extreme to some, but its something i'm simply trying to do for myself. I would agree at TFPB is pretty much niche. Those fragrances aren't designed to appeal to as many people as possible. I've been meaning to try Encre Noire A L'Extreme, still haven't smelled it believe it or not.
The titile should be 10 popular fragrances I replaced with their niche version lol. Great vid man, stay classy. Also you should try the Aqua Di Gio edp.
Good meaningful video...Got rid of D&G edp...something in it that’s gave me a headache every time I wore it...great smell though..just didn’t agree me.
Nicely done! Even though I don't always wear them, I enjoy owning all the fragrances I've collected...and I love purging stuff! The only one I got rid of was 4711 Original Eau De Cologne...zero performance one my skin.
I had blue de chanel, never that keen too, I loved invictus, got loads of compliments, never with blue tho, and even tho it's cheap i really liked cool water, looking for something new now, maybe ysl y live sounds good
I admire your personal standards! I also only keep fragrances I love wearing. If I don't love a fragrance, it gets gifted to a friend or family member, or I don't buy it in the first place if that's an option. No need to hoard things you don't use :-)
Thank you for this video, as it’ll help me with selecting a scent for my husband and teenage son.🙏. I no longer wear Chanel #22; which I wore for over 20 years. I not only stopped reaching for then wearing. I still own the bottle which still has #22 in it. It just seems like the formula changed drastically. I liked it for the powdery, clean, yet seductive qualities. I have many different scents in my collection, but I yet to find a replacement. Take care , Dawn etc.🧚🏽♂️
Thank you, Dawn, I'm glad I can help. I haven't smelled #22. What would be the next runner up in your collection in terms of a fragrance that you reach for often?
J. C. Hi J.C. The second fragrance that I really do not reach for anymore is Chanel Chance eau Fraiche because it doesn’t really last. So I prefer the Chance eau Tendre . This scent is fresh, fruity, floral, with key notes of citron, jasmine, and teakwood (which I love). On my 3rd bottle. So while I have your attention, what is a good scent for a 16 year old basketball playing young man (my baby) who wants to get the ladies attention? Thanks 🙏🎄⛄️🌟👑💖
Question: What is the best way to get rid of a fragrance you no longer enjoy? I understand Goodwill will not accept an open bottle. Is reselling online even worth it for a non-niche, pre-owned fragrance?
Speaking of Le Male and its master creator Francis Kurkdjian, have you worn MFK Masculin Puriel? Super classy, elegant yet masculine, just smooth and sophisticated. If that scent doesn't sum you up as a person, I don't know what does. Could be your signature scent. I keep both Reflection Man and Le Male. I personally prefer Le Male, but people around me seem to prefer Reflection Man on me so I just wear Le Male around the house and Reflection when I go out.
I have to agree I stopped using my Bleu de chanel EDT just got bored of it after a while. And mugler cologne seemed a little sour to me so I used it as a room scent.
I keep Chanel Bleu because it gets me compliments badly non stop! Now do I like it ? Not always but when I want to smell ok and get compliments I wear BdC parfum or edt.
Hello Mr j Copeland yesterday I came across very nice looking bottle so I bought it and it's called Leonardo by Mason Kin and it turned out to be a TomFord nock off of Italian Cypress I fell in Love with this nighte time aroma
Nice job bro. Really enjoyed this especially the reasons why u got rid of each one. Hey congrats on passing 20k subs btw awesome man! Cant really think of any I've never sold a bottle before so it's tough. I had BDC EDT years ago and when it finished I got Sauvage EDT instead of repurchasing the Chanel. Thanks Justin. - Colin
Thanks Colin! It was hard for me to start selling them, but once I did, I realized that I didn't miss them. This has really filtered my tastes, because there are only a handful that I've missed after letting go, and have since reacquired. Most of them I thought I might miss but don't miss at all.
@@stayfreshproductions I hear ya. I just dont really have enough at this point to get rid of. Well 1 maybe 2. Not sure if anyone will want the 1 I wanna sell even tho it's only missing 1 spray it's not well known...

Hey bro, i just found your channel and really digging on your content. I wanted to ask: When you say "got rid of..." what did you mean? You decanted and sold them? Trashed them? Gave them away? Wore them to empty and just chose not to re-up? Just curious....and im in a "judgy mood" :) Subbed!!!
I got rid of Dior Savauge as well. The notes would just wear on my nose after a while. Long lasting stuff. Great smell, but I don't know. I don't want to smell it all day. Also I just noticed too many people wearing it. I have The one EDT. It smells good but doesn't last long enough for me

Same with colognes. I own all of those which you mentioned in the video and each of them has some memories attached and for those reason I will never disown them! You are such a brave to do that though!
Good stuff bruh, congrats on the new digs. First off, you probably got some hatin on you out there because of the good performance you get from D&G The One, hahaha. For me, Nautica Voyage was a juice that I bought and ended up returning...I know the hype behind that one but I just did not enjoy it. A note in it just smelled really harsh to me and, as cheap and versatile as it is, I just could not go on with it.
the one lasts over 8 hours on you? I´m so jealous right now it only lasts up to 4 hours on me :( I´m on the hunt for a similar scent with better performance. Any suggestions? :D
Dior Sauvage is the most frustrating, used to get so many compliments and used to love wearing when it came out. But now I literally smell it every day and every night on "over sprayers" without fail so cannot reach for it anymore.
Brother I’ve got to say, this is a well rounded video. I understand everything you stated. I have many fragrances, and a lot of them I’ve been let down by. I find myself reaching for the same one’s. I buy different fragrances hoping to find “THAT ONE” that I just love and reach for. Yet I come up short almost every time. Maybe it’s as I age ( 40 ) I want a deeper, richer fragrance. I find myself putting on a fragrance and then wishing I would have just thrown on D&G The One. To me there is something about a rich, tobacco fragrance. Anyways great video /content as always
Brother ....I co-sign on Mugler vs OV. I wear OV all the time and it is miles above Mugler. Same scent DNA, but the difference in depth cannot be understated. Mugler is a community showe, OV is a rich man's Jacuzzi.
i understand your point with many of these scents, man. i have a problem with „dylan blue“. there‘s something in there, what i don‘t like. in case of aqua di giò, i much more prefer the „profondo“ to the „profumo“, because it‘s similarity to the original
@@Milwaukeemonsterr meh i have sauvage and coach for men which have similar qualities and i enjoy much more. Glad you're enjoying BDC though my friend!
I never ever liked Bleu De Chanel, just wasn't for me,your spot on about Elysium,to me it's the ULTIMATE spring, summer cologne and it last FOREVER....Dior Sauvage is one I really like...ADGP I like it a lot but the incense in it makes it unwearable for me because I'm allergic to some incense colognes....La Nuit D'Lhomme is another I don't like, just doesn't agree with me...
8:50 The One EDP brought me into collecting fragrances. It was the first time that I smelled a fragrance really resonated with me. Back then, in 2019, it was the best thing I had ever smelled. Now it carries so many memories because I wore it a lot. But 10 hours with this one?! Wow I envy you!
@@stayfreshproductions that's true. I am not someone who only wants beastode fragrances. In fact I like to switch perfumes between day and evening. So 6-8 hours of performance are totally fine with me.
Whoa! I can think of about 20 or more fragrances I don’t own anymore after my purge. The one that most comes to mind is Acqua Di Gio simply because I found a cheaper inspired fragrance with a bit more spice and that is Bath and Body Works fragrance called Freshwater.
This is a great video, man. Really interesting to think about your reasoning. I try to reflect like that as well and periodically narrow down my collection.
I just have to say that you seem like such a cool/thoughtful guy and your videos are superb. I have already purchased a few going by the lists you made. Layton is one of them, a great fragrance. I am now very much considering buying Reflection man and Original Vetiver. Just an appreciation comment to all that you do, thank you.
For me its the oils that convince me that once a fragrance is used up don't repurchase as i have gotten into clone oils and found with the oils they're not only cheaper but in many cases perform better and are easier to store and don't evaporate. Oils for me is where its at. Congratulations on your new home.
So true I get more compliments with my oils for 5 cash than my colognes for 150 I think the cologne should just be a gift to yourself for like a birthday or a bonus at your job

Thanks for sharing. I feel like this is a natural process we go through when our noses become more refined. There are countless popular fragrances that mean nothing to me now. 🌹
You have this Billy D Williams vibe dude .. smooth
Good evening J C, how are you doing today? Great job on the video 👍. I don't own Aventus anymore. I would rather have CDNIM. Have a great night!
Good video! You're just one cool cat with an informative, laid back style that is appreciated. 👏
Thank you!
I like how he got replacements for the ones he let go
Thanks brotha
Your neighbors got such a good smelling and and a classy neighbor!
Now to introduce yourself right from the start pick up your trumpet and play it night time
Haha! I couldn't do that to them!
Ch men and Prada L’Homme are keepers for me. The rest I’ve gotten rid of a long time ago.
I could wear that voice of yours like a signature scent and never be bored of it.
haha!
I would never be without Bleu de Chanel EDP or Prada L'Homme.
Thanks man. Yeah, more interesting things can make things that were once interesting boring.
I'm glad too! No regrets. Thanks!
I got rid of Dior Sauvage EDT and Spicebomb. I couldn’t stand the heavy ambroxan in Sauvage any longer, and Spicebomb just didn’t do it for me.
Yup! Same for me
Spice bomb was a no no
Something about it felt too heavy
Raising the bar on the niche fragrance! Bravo! The mass market colonge is mundane in comparison to you're exquisitely perfect selection!
Thanks Jeff!
Great vid man 👊🏽👌🏽👍🏽
Thanks Jimmy! As we continue to discover new frags, our tastes will inevitably change.
Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed it. Welcome to the channel!
I also got rid of my “blue” fragrances, except for Bleu de Chanel Parfum. That one stays with me forever.
I still need to give the Parfum a full wear.
RickyTomatoes I like the edp over the parfum
I like and own edp but after trying the parfum version, I prefer it over the edp. It focuses more on the woods than the citruses and that's a perfect ratio for me.
You still cannot beat the white bottle with the ship on the front and brut, that kicks arse.
Congratulations on the move 🙏
Now matter how popular something is ,not everything is for everyone. Great learn your reasons for this.
@@Denco12 misery loves company, glad you can join me 😉
Started passing bottles of to my Pops.
100! down for addition but no subtraction lol
@@djpcbaby No Subtraction for real 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thank you brotha D!
I will never be without Mugler. Almost pulled the trigger on OV, about 3 months ago Costco had it on sale for $125, I sent it back. Most say Mugler is almost spot on so I purchased a 10.2 for $80. No regrets.
Oh Godddd, your voice tone is making me dizzy 😵 would love to hear Alexa/Siri in your voice... excellent video bro 👍
Your taste continues to grow more sophisticated and luxurious. Some of those current frags your rocking cost some serious coin.
Not wanna brag but yesterday I decided to spend some money and got that axe alaska body spray. So i could pretty much be considered a conoisseur at this point.
@@0TurnAround0 😂😂
He gets them for free.
Yes. But not by just sitting around, ya know? I earned them.
I definitely recommend discovery sets! Nishane, Amouage, Roja, Argos, and Chris Collins are some of my favorite houses.
Agree with you on Profumo. Bought a sample and will be leaving it at that
Agree also, i just didnt get the hype, and was a skin scent after 4 to 5 hrs..
Totally understand! Thank you!
Good system!
Your best bets are Ebay or the various fragrance groups on Facebook!
I have both BDC and Elysium, the Elysium is the more sophisticated of the two, I like having both.
Its been a long time since I've smelled it, need to try it again.
I have to agree I stopped using my Bleu de chanel EDT just got bored of it after a while. And mugler cologne seemed a little sour to me so I used it as a room scent.
kudos on the new place, hope you fill it up with great memories. Dude, your voice is so smooth and nice, great stuff. Love your content
Thank you, Pablo!!
Shout out to you for knowing how to use the word 'resonate' correctly
👍🏼
Haha. Thanks :)
Meanwhile I replaced my La Nuit with CH prive lol, la nuit is definitely sexier but its performance really doesn't hold up to CH, at least on my skin.
I agree, the poor performance of la nuit really sucks. I got rid of mine too because of that
Hi j. C.
This ysl la nuit de l'homme, is it the intense version or not.
By the way Thanks for watching like always.
Best regards From Denmark 🇩🇰
I sold guerlain ideal cologne. Praised by many but I had trouble with that almond-citrus combo.
manygaga I personally haven’t had an issue with it but I can see that being the case for some.
manygaga I blind bought it for $24 but I’m not impressed so far. Maybe for the summertime it may sneak in a regular rotation
I keep Chanel Bleu because it gets me compliments badly non stop! Now do I like it ? Not always but when I want to smell ok and get compliments I wear BdC parfum or edt.
I still need to check out the Parfum!
Hello Mr j
Copeland yesterday I came across very nice looking bottle so I bought it and it's called Leonardo by Mason Kin and it turned out to be a TomFord nock off of Italian Cypress I fell in Love with this nighte time aroma
Good video JC but eh all sicko mode ! Definitely dope vibes try Dior Fahrenheit!!
I recently got into fragrances and BDC EDP was the first i bought because it seemed so clean and safe. It’s not bad but there are fragrances now that I would much rather have.
Hey Zach. It means I either gave it away, or sold it!
I got rid of Dior Savauge as well. The notes would just wear on my nose after a while. Long lasting stuff. Great smell, but I don't know. I don't want to smell it all day. Also I just noticed too many people wearing it.
I have The one EDT. It smells good but doesn't last long enough for me
The EDT lasted TOO long on me, one of the reasons why I got rid of it. Too linear and too persistent.
I have the first five on your list plus CH Men Prive, so 6 total. I never wear them lol. They're all fine, but better stuff out there.
I don't why I am always late whether it is watching this kind of interesting videos or start collecting colognes and much more in personal life! Anyway, I agree with Self Theory, My colognes are like my children or old classical songs that I don't always listen but when a specific circumstances occur, they remind me those songs! Same with colognes. I own all of those which you mentioned in the video and each of them has some memories attached and for those reason I will never disown them! You are such a brave to do that though!
Props to you for holding on to them! Part of the reason why I've gotten rid of fragrances is because I simply don't have space in my house. lol
Thanks Brandon. I did the same with Voyage. I enjoyed it for time, but it was very one dimensional after a while.
the one lasts over 8 hours on you?
I´m so jealous right now it only lasts up to 4 hours on me :(
I´m on the hunt for a similar scent with better performance. Any suggestions? :D
Dior Sauvage is the most frustrating, used to get so many compliments and used to love wearing when it came out. But now I literally smell it every day and every night on "over sprayers" without fail so cannot reach for it anymore.
Great video j.c and that Roja is a amazing 😉 fragrance to smell.
Can’t dump le male , I don’t care if it’s old as my grandmother I love it
Brother I’ve got to say, this is a well rounded video.
I can relate to this! Simplicity is better a lot of the time. Thanks for sharing, and watching.
Brother ....I co-sign on Mugler vs OV. I wear OV all the time and it is miles above Mugler. Same scent DNA, but the difference in depth cannot be understated. Mugler is a community showe, OV is a rich man's Jacuzzi.
Lol, hilarious metaphor!
i understand your point with many of these scents, man. i have a problem with „dylan blue“. there‘s something in there, what i don‘t like. in case of aqua di giò, i much more prefer the „profondo“ to the „profumo“, because it‘s similarity to the original
I still need to try Profundo! I keep hearing good things about it.
I really appreciate this video. You gave a lot of insights. Answered may questions I had.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching.
Got rid of bleu de chanel. Every time i wore it i wished i was wearing something else.
Parfum is the best anyway
@@scottyB316 i just bought it for a really good price and i enjoy wearing it lol

All that matters is that you love it, even if it lasts 5 hours! 😉
I know Freshwater! Definitely pretty decent!
This is a great video, man. Really interesting to think about your reasoning. I try to reflect like that as well and periodically narrow down my collection.
Thanks David. I'm always questioning my collection!
@@stayfreshproductions As we all should. That's how we refine our collections. Whoever smells the best by the time they die wins!
Thank you, Moac! Really appreciate the kindness.
For me its the oils that convince me that once a fragrance is used up don't repurchase as i have gotten into clone oils and found with the oils they're not only cheaper but in many cases perform better and are easier to store and don't evaporate. Oils for me is where its at.
Congratulations on your new home.
Thanks Mike! Great points...
So true I get more compliments with my oils for 5 cash than my colognes for 150 I think the cologne should just be a gift to yourself for like a birthday or a bonus at your job
