    I get that speckled effect every time I try to apply foundation with a brush, I'm always puzzled by how brush application works for other people!

    • @steffid_
      @steffid_ 2 года назад +1

      Hey, i get that every time i wear skincare or a primer that does not go well with the foundation. A beauty blender does press it on top while we usually use a brush to swipe and "rub" a bit more. Maybe try a stipling brush or motions and the foundation with only a light serum as skin prep this helped me to use now a lot of foundations that others sayed it looked beautiful but did weird things on my skin ☺️

    • @laurenp1078
      @laurenp1078 2 года назад +4

      @@steffid_ I’ve tried a few different brushes and techniques over the years, as well as different skincare and primers. Some help more than others but I suspect it’s just my skin. Brushes seem to kick up texture, like running your hand over velvet in the wrong direction! I’m satisfied just using a sponge, but helped me feel like less of a freak to see someone else get that same speckling effect using a brush!

      Hi, so while i know makeup tool usage is up to the user, I've found that foundation buffing brushes do their best job at doing exactly that, buffing the product and not applying. I use an actual foundation application brush to paint it on first, let it sit a couple minutes while i, say, apply eye primer and lip balm or something, and then go in with blending/buffing brush. the finish is always smooth, no speckling or steaking.

    • @laurenp1078
      @laurenp1078 2 года назад +2

      @@shandysawh3071 When I use a buffing brush it makes my skin go flaky, like the brush is exfoliating, and the foundation does not look smooth. Honestly, it’s really ok that I can’t make a brush work for my skin! No tips required :)

    • @bagalika1995
      @bagalika1995 10 месяцев назад

      This foundation is better to use with denser brush. when I dot it on my face and blend after some time, it looks bad on me. It looks good only if I apply it on my hand/palette, pick with brush and then apply. And I can't apply foundation with sweeping motions, stippling only. But it happens with all foundations on me. On other people this foundation blends like a dream and looks very natural and smooth with no effort (I used to be a pro makeup artist, so I had plenty of tests). My skin is kinda complicated with all foundations.

    Great review and I love it that you tried and reviewed a sample. It’s a great way to work out what works for you. I find that some of the luxury brands assume perfect skin. The Chanel foundations also run sheer. I love light to medium coverage and my favourites are currently my guerlain foundations. I think they are reformularing to make their higher coverage, I think they also do samples, the one in the little round bottle may be more to your liking.

    If you have a Selfridges membership, this is about $30 cheaper - I actually bought a bottle for a crazy $51 in their Black Friday Sale. Makeup retailers really love screwing us Aussies over lol
    Either way, the foundation didn't really work out for me (wound up looking too heavy somehow?), but I'm glad I only spent half what I'd normally spend on it.

    I love this foundation but I have dry skin.
    It tends to work better with a dense buffing brush for me.
    And it fades in a really natural looking way and it very agreeable with all of the dew products I tend to use.
    The way you explain when you would purchased foundation (on sale, low on foundations, and Splurge on a skin tint look) is exactly how I tend to buy this foundation.
    I have always been Curious about how it looks on oily skin. Thank you for reviewing this.

    Thank you for this, I had this on my "buy it at some point" list, but I think I actually prefer more coverage after that much work and layering and whatnot, than this.
    I only wear foundation when my self esteem is below -9000 and so this isn't really THAT perfecting. Also not foolproof. For that much money it should apply much easier.
    I currently opened my Chantecaille gel foundation pot, slapped it on with a big puffy foundation brush and it just looked perfect. You know it's right when your other half says: I don't know what you put on your skin, but it looks good. £72 well spent. It'll last me years, too.

    Hi Kat, I've heard that Runway Room Face Base Foundation (Australian Made by an Australian Makeup Artist Alex Fevola) is a dupe for Armani Luminous silk. Its also half the price. I'm yet to try it, but its on my list. I watched a "Live" between Amanda Ramsay makeup (over 40's expert) with Alex Fevola and she recommended those products. Would be worth checking out if you're also interested in doing more foundation reviews, and perhaps comparing. I'm keen to support Aussie brands. Great video.

    I also got a sample of this, it applied for me so badly with a brush (especially near the baby hairs) but it did look much nicer with a sponge. I'm confused as to people saying it's their "event" makeup (I've seen this a lot) because as you experienced it's just not enough coverage 😅

    Earliest I've ever been to a video of yours! I tried this foundation when I was 15, so... Almost a decade ago. It's really got cultural longevity! I didn't like it back then, mostly because of the lack of olive shades and my oily skin type. Maybe I'll try it again now that I'm in my 20s and normal-dry :)

      They now have some of the best olive options running from “light to medium” to “very deep” across 6 shades: 3.5, 6, 7.8, 9, 11 and 14. At least these are our options in Canada. I am combination, oily skin in the summer and more normal slightly dry in winter (due to how drastically our climate chages between summer and winter) and I really like this foundation, except of course the price 😂

    I apply this foundation with a dense foundation brush. I use the BK Beauty 101 foundation brush or the rephr foundation brush. I have dry/combination skin.

    Kat, have you tried a green colour corrector to help even out your skin tone? It might mean you could use less foundation. I use a peach one for the under-eye area and it really helps. The Chanel green corrector is pricey but very good.

      I have and since I need to use it in a lot of areas, it ends up making my base look quite grey. It’s honestly much easier just to use a medium/higher coverage foundation. Also I don’t need to apply a lot of foundation if it has decent coverage, because my redness can be covered pretty easily 😊

I also have a lot of redness and have similar appearance on the chin, and the make up just vanishes from my chin throughout the day! Wonder if you have some tips! And second, what is your day to day go to foundation (full covers thst you spread out)? Curious to know!

    • @Studrun

    • @KitschSnitch
      @KitschSnitch  2 года назад +2

      I’m so glad you love them! I think they are the best too!
      If I was going out somewhere I would touch up my makeup, maybe a quick blot, a bit of concealer to patch any redness and then a quick powder. If I was staying home, I would just wash it off.
      I don’t really have a go to foundation, I really like the Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation and Concealer, it tends to give consistently good results and is easy to blend out. Another thing I have been doing lately is I take a full coverage foundation mixing it with a bit on sunscreen to sheer it out a little. It has been working well to adapt fuller coverage foundation to more of a day time finish.
