Beautiful documentary. Love your short videos, OGS! I'm trying to learn more about the culture of Singapore; finding stories like this and discovering their relationships with food is worth it, thanks a bunch for producing them.
His work ethics is correct in order to be successful. Hard work is another plus he is own boss who has the right mindset and dedication. Happy to know to meet this gentleman one day. Like to know the location of his store pls . Thx you
Sometimes in a family if only one person to run the business and the others dont get involved or help out, things very hard to work out. Running any business will require management from inside combined with outside. If one person how to divide hands to two part of managing business. You'll always trust own closest family members more than outsiders first. Not everything can depends on workers. I used to run a small business by my own. My only family is my mother, but unfortunately she not a good reader & in math. There're many things i need to run by my own while inside the work cannot finish. I felt so helpless & tired & felt like wasting time. Eventually i closed down business & went for employment. So when this uncle said he's very tired & was thinking to close it down, i totally can understand his feeling. What he said tired, was not about physically only, but mentally also. Lucky his daughter has interest to make it a heritage, could probably taken a load-off uncle's shoulders.
Hmm, i will have to skip this store for awhile cause even before this video, the queue is already very long, I believe with this video out, the queue will be even longer 😬. The fishball noodle is good 😋. MUST TRY 👍
used to live there. havent been back there in ages. a lot has changed it seems. didnt know that this fishball store exist. but i do recognized the sundry goods owners.
We will surely regret the loss if we dont support folks like this. Any ppl who lose their food culture lose a part of themselves, and will stand to become consumed by another ppl.
I would love for folks like these, to be financially comfortable. Able to put aside for retirement. But most modestly popular hawkers struggle to keep their heads above the water, with majority of the earnings go to rent. And many popular ones, make more money so that they can buy condo and Merc, and hire someone to do the work. Riding on their brand name, with their food having higher prices and degraded quality. And people soon say "the taste not like last time leh", or... "why people say until so good? so-so only what" for people new to the stall.
I would go to the other fishball noodle at the opposite block 416 - Pandan Garden Fishball noodles. It is much much better and longer history, just compared the patrons. I have stayed in Pandan Gardens most of my life and most relatives are still there too. Trust me, this stall is not worth your time.
