Cartier is on a roll. Your diskussion with Cyril was exactly what the watch World needed, his ideas of baroque music on modern instruments was very much spot on. I love these tanks, would love to have a large in every colour but as of now it’s between the solar beat & the red.
No doubt about it.Cartier can design the hell out of watch. Truly beautiful, ethereal, elegant & timeless. They have been killing it last couple of years.
The cloche is actually designed to be worn with the dial on your inner wrist so you have that perfect sideboard clock effect on your arm..plus it's more discreet.. Also your voice has the perfect mix of pitch and accent. You could read the phone book and keep me entertained..
I bought a replica of this watch just because I will not be one of the lucky 300 or 100 in platinum. And I just put in on my inner wrist, you are absolutely correct! Funny no one is talking about that fact!
Great review of the range! The new Must is a marked improvement on the outgoing Solo. Whist it is big (for a Tank), I think the automatic XL is just stunning. That silvered flinqué dial is beautiful, and the fact that it’s the only one to retain the deployment clasp is a big plus. Can’t wait to see it in the metal.
Very impressed to hear Cartier discuss things like ethics, sustainability and gender Also very pleasantly surprised to hear someone like you (someone who's been in the industry for a long time) discuss it so positively and openly Very informative video, thank you!
Thank you for the wonderful review Wei. I put down a deposit on the green Tank Must a few weeks ago and can’t wait, but the Solar is talking to me also.
Another amazingly informative video 🥰 The only thing I would say is that I disagree with your assessment on what is great value, I think if large and small were a manual wind, as they were historically, then yes, the price would be good value, but as quartz, I’m not compelled. The quartz is such an inexpensive movement to use, the price should reflect it.
I’m on the verge of getting the new 2021 Tank Must (quartz) and doing some research. This was a very thorough and gripping presentation. Excellent pace, diction, and knowledge. Thank you very much - subscribed.
Just seen your comment..if you've bought the quartz then congrats but if your still on the fence don't. A younger me bought a quartz Santos, man coming to sell due to an upgrade I was offered low money compared to a mechanical movement..just something I wish I'd been advised about pre purchase. I think the difference was a few hundred between quartz and mechanical but the difference getting out was sizeable.
@@vinnym9479 thanks a lot! I actually decided to hold off and just stay with 1 watch for now. I have a Rolex Explorer 124270 and I’ll stay with only that and save up for an all gold Rolex Day Date. I’ve come to realize I really like the 36mm case Rolexes (I’ve tried subs, YM40, etc.) so no point buying other things. I’m not much of a “collector” but I really like reading about and researching models and different movements. I just like Rolex though, regardless of the stereotypes that come with it.
Nice presentation Wei Koh. Wish I’m still in Singapore to purchase these. A wrist shot would’ve been nice. Still contemplating on the large vs small size. Probably the brand I’ve appreciated most of all in the recent W&W.
I must say that you, for passing some of your knowledge and wisdom not just about Cartier but about watches. So thank you, Keep well, keep safe and enjoy life.
Fantastic presentation Wei, I’m so excited for these pieces. Can’t decide between Santos Medium, Tank Must Solarbeat or the green Tank. I expect I’ll go for both the Santos plus one Tank.
I love this guy’s perspective on watch sizes. I like what I think of as “gentleman’s watches” that have a classic look, few complications, and a modest size. The trend of huge, chunky men’s watches was always obnoxious to me…like fine watchmakers were trying to look like an Invicta. Masculinity and elegance should not be conflicting. Look at Humphrey Bogart and the Longines he wore in Casablanca
Amazing Video. I already ordered the 3 colour quartz watches and the Boutique guy was telling me this whole new colour dials are one time production that will arrive in September. Does anyone know the truth to that?
Citizen Eco-Drive "ONE" is the worlds thinnest light powered analog luxury watch. With exotic materials in it's construction the limited version.... AR5014 - 04E retailed for $6000. An overlooked masterpiece....
I wanted to get a Reverso tribute in blue or green but none were available at the LA boutique I visited last time. God I'm happy for that. Cartier just released the same colors! Case shape is so much better than reverso imo, even if the movement is a downgrade.
I have to bust your bubble there. I wear mechanical watches so I can conveniently check the time at the flick of a wrist instead of going into my pocket to drag out my phone ( plus squashing the irritation of having to put it back in my pocket) at the risk of dropping it or getting rainwater ingress et cetera. It also acts as a buffer to technological interference and that almost junkiesque over dependency on a not so smart phone. It helps to give off an air of calm and collected as opposed to fetidly over obsessed. And then there’s the side pleasure of triggering women’s hypergamy with a darting flash of 18 carat gold or a gem set dial. Manpower!
I hate their odd-ball, asymmetrical watches as watches, but they value is in history. The Cloche would make a lovely all round watch, but not the Cloche, it's horrid. Turn the Cloche into a nice round watch CARTIER! Think about the Solar Quartz is they need to be kept charges or the power cell will fail sooner.
7:50 wrong. Buy a proper manual or automatic watch, made from gold and animal hide, not some imitation solar-powered fake using solar-panels from a calculator and a strap made from recycled garbage.
This is bollocks isn't it? How is a solar powered watch "sustainable"? Do other watches use fossil fuels???? No. They don't. The fact that it has a battery cell in it is already less environmentally friendly than a mechanical movement. This is some Zoolander shit.
The vast majority of watches made are quartz because the vast number of watches sold are quartz. So Cartier going from 3 years per battery to 6 times that is a big deal.
@@L.A.C_Santos ohh, how woke and 2023 of you. No-one should be snobbish or judgmental; we should all just be happy for each other and accept other people's choices, huh...? Well, not for me. I am, and will continue to be, judgmental and snobbish.
"Cartier watches don't identify your gender, they identify the strength of your character." I really love that quote.
Very good USP

The case shape of the Musts is so much nicer than the Solo, easy sell!
" There is something to be said about chromatic edification" Agreed! Bought the blue must and I love it so much.

A couple of years ago, I was considering getting the new Santos. Now prices are really shooting up.
Wei has an incredible vocabulary
I burst out laughing at the "recycled apples" comment at 4:03. Just a funny thing to say about a luxury watch.

always great to hear an unscripted voice of an expert
How is it possible to buy new color tank???
Great watches! Next time please give us the dimensions !
Is the solar beat in a silver dial? Or is it blank white? I can't tell
Fantastic review!
Does anyone have a link to the Cyrille Vigneron speech that Wei mentioned?
That monochromatic red tank is absolutely to die for, I just need that thing in my life! does anybody know if these are limited editions or not?
Regular production, they’ll be widely available from September.
Platinum? I thought it was in white gold?
I prefer normal quartz over solar beat. Easy maintanance
Great review Wei!
My next piece will be a Cartier... just can’t decide which one
Think of it this way: You can't go wrong!
What is the Quartz movement? I think it is new because now it has 8 years battery life,
It’s 16 years. The current Santos Dumont is 6 and is a proprietary movement.
@@Judah.Rosenthal The quartz solar is 16. The quartz normal is 8 years
@@jarichabala Hmm. So they’re beating even the current Dumont. Solar is nice. But 8 years is pretty impressive too.
Congrats, great video 👍
Citizen and Seiko are making solar power / eco drive watches since the 70’s. Not expensive and functional. But as it’s Cartier..... it’s oh lalala.
That’s what I’m saying lol
Great video.
What is the model of the Cartier used for the thumbnail?
It's the cloche de cartier, it's supposed to be shaped like a bell but if I'm being honest it looks more like a breast to me

The sales lady at Cartier said the large tank must with the diamonds was for women. I actually liked the large tank must with diamonds. Lol
I don’t agree with her at all, tanks are unisex.
look like its a must to purchase the tank must (pun intended)
Yet they are to expensive for quarc wathces.I likw them but my mind just can't justify 3000$ for quarc :(
Rectangle model !
Omg so many hatred comments! It’s only watches!
Video needs more Bandit
Now Cartier has 1000 genders
"recycled apple"
iWatch Series 6
Recycled apples strap but its a luxurious watch? 😂 I love cartier and only wear cartier but you dont have to drool on everything they release..
it is honestly jarring pretending like putting a solar power movement in a watch makes any real tangible difference
Chromatic edification? All in favour of that!
