Periodontal disease is caused by anaerobic bacteria forming plaque in the periodontal pockets which colonizes and forms biofilm. When perio disease is not controlled, it leads to other systemic issues such as heart disease, adverse pregnancy outcomes, diabetes, amongst other issues. An at-home adjunctive solution is needed to treat the disease. The 1.7% Hydrogen Peroxide Gel breaks up biofilm, kills bacteria, and keeps the bacteria from recolonizing, preventing further infection.
