What an incredible song and a truly beautiful voice... Her voice was meant for songs like this... I will never understand why she was so forgotten by the powers-that-be... She recorded in an era when you heard 3 notes and you knew the song... You heard 2 or 3 words and knew the singer... And none of that blasted autotune either! She left much too soon... Too soon...
Wow - I love Classic Country - where has this song been hiding? Great vocals, super background music, catchy lyrics. Thanks so much for posting Wally - Really enjoyed it.
JUST AS GOOD AS GOLD!!...Thank you soooo much for posting and sharing this #23 country hit back from the autumn of 1977...i thoroughly enjoyed it!...(and the sound quality is wonderful too!!)...take care:)
It stinks that this incredible song gets confused with the Clay Walker song with a similar title that came along 19 years later. This is a perfect blend of lyric, arrangement and performance. Sammi was an incredible singer who should have had, at least, four number 1 hits and this is one of those four.
I've played this song I don't know how many times today. Sammi Smith was the best of the best. What a gift that she left us songs like this. Thanks so much for uploading it. :)
Not really being a "fan" of hers, I almost didn't get this LP even though it was dirt cheap, now I'm glad I did as it had more than a few enjoyable tracks on it.
My ever favourite, Sammi Smith the most under rated singer ever!!!!!
Keep coming back to you W. Walter, not only is she my favourite singer, this is my favourite track :-)

I totally agree with you, but thanks to You Tube we do our best to turn other people on to her music. Thanks for commenting.

Thank you I just love her voice. GB
I think she's a real beauty, what a voice, gone way to soon.
We need more singers like her. Thanks for posting.
Her music needs to be re-issued on CD.
Wow, this song is so much more powerful when you have a broken heart.
