Putting to the repair test this 2015 Bosch Professional GSB 18V 2-Li drill, was the intent.
The spare part if you order from the Bosch spares online sales is 2.609.199.626 and in Spain I paid 28,92 euros plus shipping.

This DC motor is manufactured by Johnson Electric. There is a spec sheet you can download after registering at the www.johnsonelectric.com site. Their model number is HC683LG V060121.
A reader asked me is you can just change the brushes. It seems that they sell brush rings (plastic ring with the brushes set) on aliexpress, but in that case you would need to overcome 8 factory crimps made directly on the tubular housing of the motor. As I have not tried this since I wanted to keep the motor housing in good condition, I cannot relate how easy it is.

The brushes are a bit awkward to locate & change. However not much more than a complete motor replacement which here was unnecessary. Not mentioned the numerous star drive screws that assemble the two halves - again awkward to remove! Then the problem of getting motor gearbox & brush mount plate in line & in the exact correct position. No way to be sure of extent of brushwear & the brush springs are a pig to reassemble. All in all not an easy fix & my drill only 6 tears old & used only as a DIY tool. I am not happy with Bosch!

Unfortunately most products nowadays are not designed for maintenance, or testability. It seems that in cars this has become ridiculous for example for alternator brush changes (not readily accessible, some models without spares available).

Thank you for useful video. And I have a question. I want to replace only brushes on the same model(gsb 18-2 li). Is there any possibility? I saw you had found “No easy access to brushes, but I wondered.

Thanks for your comment. From Bosch online spares store I got a new original DC motor. They are made by Johnson Electric, and the type is Hc683LG. I did not try to open it further because to access the brushes you have to overcome 8 factory crimps made in the circular housing. However, it seems that you can purchase a set of brush rings as I found this reference in AliExpress. es.aliexpress.com/item/32966632321.html
Let us know how the repair goes for you. I also noted that they sell third party DC motor at about half the price of the Bosch spares.

LEMD49 Wow, I really appreciate your detail and great anawer. Maybe I ‘d better buy a new DC motor like you did in order to save my time. Thanks again.

@@hanbyullee Yes that was what I thought too. To extend the life of the whole machine was worth paying more for the whole sub-assembly, than ending up with a sloppy outcome. (Just a youtuber cutting the motor open with a radial, not sure how the closed up job ended up.) 🤣

I see at the switch at one site 3 wires: red, black ( probably +,- ) and a blue wire. what is the function of this blue wire??

Hi, I did not trace that part of the circuit since I only replaced the motor from the existing 2 wires leading to it. I checked again the Bosch spares website and could not find a wiring diagram. However, I see from the exploded view that that subassembly is sold as a whole unit "electronic module 18V" with p/n 1 607 233 544 and is priced at 71.55 euros. Which part of your drill has failed?

In any case for analog speed control 3 wires are required. The image of this post (for another Bosch machine may give you some hints). www.bosch-professional.com/gb/en/community/category/rh540m-sds-max-tool-wiring-specifics/13436103-t#/main
