Angelina’s manager from the beginning is her uncle Michael Astar. From article of Music Norway interview we learn that Michael was raised in Japan and music was always his passion. After his family moved to Norway, Michael became a hip-hop DJ. As a 16-year old he was a DJ at 21+ night clubs in Oslo, Norway, getting the gigs because he looked older and no one asked his age before being hired.
After getting tired of being a DJ, Michael started a music management company in 2013, and 3 months later, with no clients yet, Angelina signed-up to try out for Norway’s Got Talent. Angelina’s first audition when 7-years old was a cover of Billie Holiday’s song “Gloomy Sunday” that went viral when it got uploaded to RUclips. Then Angelina won Norway’s Got Talent, had other viral RUclipss, performed on Norway, US and other TV shows and her career started to take off. Eventually she had over 1 billion views of her performances on RUclips and Facebook before Angelina’s appearances on the American’s Got Talent - The Champions show. Her performances there further accelerated her career.
At this point, Angelina asked her uncle Michael if it was possible for her to move to the US to pursue her music dreams. Michael says this was a tough call, and he asked himself questions like; how on earth are you going to pull this off? What about a VISA? What about finances? Are you willing to sell everything you have and own, and also get a loan to risk everything? Michael related that “These were questions I had to ask myself, several times a day. Then, I remembered, what did my mom do when she went to Japan? She didn’t even talk Japanese or knew anyone. She did it because she risked everything for a better future.”
So, Michael flew alone to Los Angeles, studied and learned anything he could learn from the people he got to know during his time in the Industry. After gathering a bunch of people, he came back to Norway and started the process. He indicated that “A few months later, I told her, PACK YOUR BAGS! We are going next week to pursue your dream! All in baby. Her smile made it all worth the hassle.”
“We stayed patient because the way this industry works is bizarre and you have to dodge bullets right and left to get anywhere. But would I do it again? Of course! Life without challenge is boring," Michael says.
For Michael, a lot of his time involves talking with industry people, to see what’s happening out there. Having recently become a father and with COVID-19, time has become even busier and more crazy than usual. “There is a lot of stuff happening with Angelina, and it requires daily briefings with a lot of people.”
America’s Got Talent had always been interested in bringing Angelina to the show, but with their normal contract, artists are being locked into a label, management, and other things for many years. Michael says that it did not matter if you get exposure or not, it was out of the question to give away that many rights.
This kind of patience eventually paid off. Michael said that “Some time passed and they again contacted me, asking if she wanted to sing on their show. I convinced them to give me a contract where Angelina is free from any deal if she performs, she is great for their TV show and Angelina will get the exposure she needs to breakthrough, because I knew, the talent is one of the kind like no other, I just needed her to be seen and was on a daily hunt for how to get the right spot for her in the USA.”
After, Angelina’s success on America’s Got Talent, she eventually signed with Republic Records in August 2020 where Angelina was told she was Republic’s highest priority new artist. Michael says the commitment with the right interest in mind has been one of the most important things when choosing a team and partners to be part of Angelina’s team. “You also need to choose someone with the right chemistry. These are the people you have to deal with on a daily basis, you have to have a good feeling and chemistry with the team you choose.”
Although no specifics yet, Michael says that the plans for Angelina include going global.
Advice from Michael: “Go with your instinct, it never fails, crazy how nature does that. Always be humble, you get way further being a nice person, people tend to be nice back. Always read the contract. Find a good lawyer (It’s super hard to find the good one, but with dedication, you can). Don’t rely on people, you want something done? Do it yourself. If you are good at something, never do it for free (Quote from the Joker).”

Glad you came back to this. This performance was a MASTERPIECE. Perhaps your opinion may differ but, to me, it was an incredible video. The originality, the interpretation of the lyrics, the soulfulness of her voice, the a cappella beginning, the arrangement of the song, the slowed down version, her confidence, the guitar and the piano taking turns backing her up, and on and on.

A thoughtful commentary and quite insightful. You identified the essence of this performance. This was tone and interpretation singing. Something of a "Less is more" vis-a-vis the Dimashes and the pop diva set. But, it really isn't less, as the look on your face showed. It was a lot. This is also what Angelina is mainly about. The idea is to bring out the best in the composition being performed and adjust one's technique in service to that goal. It succeeds when the listener is emotionally transported by the message of the song. Contrast this approach to singers who use a song to show off, to overwhelm the audience with vocal pyrotechnics regardless of the appropriateness to the composition. Recall your pointing out how sparse accompaniment was, and that it provided the perfect compliment to the vocal. Craftsmanship. That's also part of the concept. This approach aligns with popular vocalists before Rock 'N Roll took over the scene. Ella Fitzgerald, often cited as the greatest singer of her generation, was a tone and interpretation singer. I can't recall her ever "diva-ing" up a performance. In fact for centuries, divas worked in opera houses. That was until until the 1960s. And, the first pop diva that I recall is Barbara Streisand. Now, popular music seems to have devolved into who can achieve the highest belt and stuff a piece with the most melismas. Even in this performance, Angelina had delve into those techniques in order to show up well in the voting. But given that, Angelina was anything but tasteless in the manner she did it. She crafted a journey that gave the trill seekers what they wanted while still delivering the highest order of craftsmanship. Genius.

There is a whole story behind how Angelina came to AGT The Champions, from the first "flirtations" of Simon's company, for years, to having her in the American version, after she demonstrated her talent by winning at the age of 7- 8 years the Norwegian version of the show. After many negotiations, Simon ended up giving in to the requirement of a contract that would tie Angelina, in exchange for having her in the final version of The Champions and Angelina, by not signing the mooring contract, would give up a large part of his chances of winning the contest, but it would win the massive exposure it achieved in North America.
One detail that speaks of Angelina's courage and self-confidence is that by saying that she "had been waiting 10 years" to sing in front of Simon, she differs from most other talents. When you know how deep and rich your talent is, you do not evade the great criticism, but on the contrary, you look to those "harsh and critical" voices to put yourself to the test.

That's weird how she's not huge everywhere already with that type of talent, maybe a choice from her entourage to keep her from too much exposure.
They are definitely easing her into the "fame" world -- and though she is "niche", I suspect she can already sell out huge venues in the States (when she goes for it).

Regarding your recent reaction to Bohemian Rhapsody Did you notice during her performance they highlighted audience members in the front row. That is Angelina's Family. From left to right Her uncle and manager Michael Astar, her little sister Juliet, her mother and her grandmother. Notice her little sister crossing her fingers as the performance starts and later her mother wipe tears from her eyes. Sounds like you have done some research. Also remember she said she had waited 10 years to sing for Simon. When she was 3 years old she was begging her mother to go on 'that Simon show'.

Daniel, Happy Birthday a bit early and you made my day with your reaction, as I was having a tough day. Angelina has always created her own arrangements, seemingly from birth, and her arrangement and performance of Bohemian Rhapsody was so good that the surviving members of Queen posted the video on their Twitter. Certainly, the biggest exposure Angelina has received so far in her career, yet still remains virtually unknown to the general public. I bought a license plate with AJASTAR (her full given name Angelina Jordan Astar) on it months ago and not one person so far has recognized it. Of course, all that will change once her family tells Republic Records they are ready for her to be promoted. The world is so very lucky to have such a smart and loving family nurturing Angelina's incredible talent. If you want an equally-stunning performance, I suggest Angelina's cover of Lana Del Rey's "Born To Die."
If you want one that is widely considered Angelina's best performance, that would be "I'm still holding out for you" (not her original song, but also not a cover: She performed it at the request of the authors of the song, because they were hoping she would buy the rights. She didn't, but someone kept a recording and released it a few years later, without anyone's permission. Both Angelina and the copyright holders have since decided they're OK with the recording being on RUclips, and with reactors reacting to it.)

Great reaction. If you want to see another great re-interpretation of an iconic song, you should check out her recent Jazz cover of Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean". It is an awesome re-make of a fantastic and iconic song. Done as only Angelina can do. She also did a great job on the Beatles cover of "Yesterday" a couple weeks ago.

I'm sure someone has pointed this out, but I didn't see it just scanning through the comments here, so…
Angelina did have something specific in mind when she was reowrking this song into the arrangement you just heard (I mean, apart from fitting in the tight time limits imposed by the show): in a pre-show interview, she said the song she was going to sing (the identity of which was a secret at that point) reminded her of her grandfather, who had passed away about a year and a half earlier. It turns out, her other grandfather was fighting cancer at the time and would die about a month after her performance. I think she had both grandfathers in mind when she was arranging her version of the song. If you notice, apart from her short opening and closing verses (extracted from the opening and closing verses of the original), the main part of the song is only the verse about dying and leaving people behind.
Have you heard her "cover" of Amy Winehouse's "Back to Black"? If not, you should react to it. (It's easy to find on her Official channel.) I put "cover" in quotes because Angelina completely rewrote the lyrics (from scratch, in one day), so she could sing the song as a 10-year-old. It's quite interesting, because while her song is not quite as dark as Amy's, it's still a song about, let's say, obsessive love. (Angelina's opening lines: "I have gone mad by your love / Crazy, sick, and mad / I laugh, I cry, I love". - Damn! Now, _that's_ how to start a song!) Sadly, Angelina’s paternal grandfather died in March 2018 and her maternal grandfather died in November 2019. Angelina’s maternal grandmother Mery Zamani has had tremendous influence on Angelina and her career as she introduced Angelina to Jazz at early age. Mery is famous Iranian contemporary writer, poet and painter who was also child prodigy herself being on Radio Iran's Children program at age 4 and began writing poetry and painting by age of 9. Later Mery was trained in art at Tokyo Academy in Japan where she met her husband, who was Japanese, during her master degree's training in Japan. I’ve liked your reviews in the past, but you really don’t know Angelina. Angelina doesn’t go over the top. She is an exquisite singer-the best I’ve ever heard, and I go back a long way. Angelina makes everything she sings her own, as everyone will tell you. She has no hesitation taking on iconic songs, like Bohemian Rhapsody, and giving us her own arrangements. She is a very humble person, but she is completely aware of her vocal ability. Her cover of Goodbye, Yellow Brick Road on this same show demonstrates again how she can mesmerize and audience with her delivery and her voice. She does not stay inside the lines for many of her covers. Her very recent release of Billie Jean takes it literally where it’s never been before, and she gets it just right. Just start listening. Angelina is the total package: musicality, arranging, incredible voice, and a captivating intimate delivery that makes you feel she’s not performing, but singing to you.

First thing you have to remember is artists are given like 2 minutes to do their thing on this nonsense show so Angelina did this arrangement to fit this ridiculous time frame. My second observation is that, though there are wonderful singers out there, you mentioned a couple, Angelina is a music Artist, which IMHO there are very very few these days, a lot of people can "sing" but few "artists" can interpret the music and make you feel it, and she is one of the very few out there now. Also, thank you for supporting the young barefoot Angel on your channel by promoting her artistry, very classy of you young man. I am sure Angelina's millions of fans appreciate it too. No problem with the copyright, Angelina's team would not sign the standard contract for this show, resulting in the performance not owned by Freemantle, also it's not on Angelina's channel. Simon Cowell would have known of Angelina long before this show, she certainty added to the profile of the show, got the golden buzzer to progress directly to the final, could not possibly win as she did not comply with the contractual requirement. These competition songs are really short. You can get more bang for your buck if you listen to the 4 song compilation of her performance on Norway's Got Talent at age 7/8. Bonus: at the end you see her win it. Video is10 1/2 long.
