    Thanks for this video. Bought a 2017 q5 at auction that was doing this and shuddering when under acceleration/ load at all speeds- including highway driving. Changed the transfer clutch fluid as per your video and drives perfect now. Thanks!

    I refilled the drive oil as you suggested, and the strange noise is gone. I love you, you're awesome!

    OMG perfect timing, i have this issue with my B9 2017 Allroad and my mechanic is recommending replacing my drive shaft ($2000 plus labor) I'm going to try this first and report back here.
    Update: followed step by step and it fixed the issue, been driving a few 100 k since and still all good.

      I hope you informed the mechanic also? Because he's going to replace that drive shaft for someone else. 😮

    I had the same issue 4 months ago on a 2020 Q5 at around 85k kms. I took it to Audi dealership and they did exactly what you just did, it fixed the problem right away. However, the rumble is back after 4months and i only did 10k kms since then. Audi said that if it comes back they have to change the center differential under warranty. When you search for “quattro rumble” you will find many posts of people complaining about it. It’s unfortunate that Audi doesn’t fix the root cause of it or just add it to the list of service maintenance to be done! Thanks for the video

      Appreciate you sharing your experience on this, although the prospect if this problem comes back that soon I'll be a little nervous. How extreme were the symptoms before you decided to bring the car in? I do wonder if there's a point where it's simply too late for a fluid change.

      @@FigureItAudi when i took it to Audi dealership, the vibrations were quite noticeable. I have to add that I am in Canada and I only feel it when I am on the summer tires. When on winter tires, i don’t feel it. It is pretty weird! But I want to get it fixed before my extended warranty expires

      Thanks for checking in, and while we have you...are you able to shed light on why the security access code is NOT the default 20113 that VCDS prompts to enable basic settings and instead requires the 20103 you detailed in the post?

      I honestly have no idea. I just followed what the folks on the forum instructed me to do. Sorry I don't have more context.

    And this is why I bought a 2016 A4 B9.0 Quattro with a Torsen Centre Diff and not a face lifted B9.5 with the Quattro Ultra.

      Yup, keep an eye on it. I think the larger moral of the story is: there's no filter or fluid that shouldn't be changed at some point. I understand why a business decision by Audi would be to leave out a number of fluids from the regular maintenance schedule or simply call them "lifetime" and avoid the necessity to change them under warranty entirely. However, the side effect is obviously that the service becomes "out of sight, out of mind" for all owners, where the work now becomes reactionary instead of preventative. Which is dumb. I know an auto manufacturer would never do this but if there could be a "Things you should really consider on the tail end of your warranty period" section to at least mention the items we all know need attention but are unlikely to cause issues for the first number of years of ownership, it would save a lot of pain.

    Thank you so much. My research skill is not as good as yours. I know there are maintenance schedules for the Torsen & Haldex systems but I could not find anything on the quattro ultra system. At least now I know what to look for.

    Perfect timing! I have a 2018 A4 with 6 speed manual, just over 100k km... have been getting the "shuddering" sound from the rea axle... after researching (google) for awhile, I came to the same conclusion - hoping it's the AWD clutch fluid that needs change!
    Interesting, here in Sudbury ON, the dealer charges $120 (plus HST) for the clutch fluid... so I bought 1 'bottle', but did also order 2 more from FCP.
    Really appreciate your video, going to do this procedure next weekend, and hopefully the shudder goes away!!!

      Good luck! if you don't mind, check back and let us know if it solved the problem, especially given yours is a manual.

    speaking of leaving items out of the mx schedule...when will they put intake valve cleaning services in the mx schedule for Direct Injected cars? Services are offered by the dealer (of course they are), but the actual service is not in the mx schedule from the manufacturer...negligence or oversight? is it omitted to keep ownership costs "down" in comparison shopping tools??

    Nice job! Did you use tread locker or thread sealer for the rear diff fill and drain plug?

    • @FigureItAudi
      @FigureItAudi  Месяц назад +1

      I did - orange thread locker; holds like red, breaks like blue.

    Really nice tutorial, the only one that I know of that covers the clutch and the diff for this set up.
    I'm planning to do the same for my Audi Q5, but I'm unable to find the plugs for the clutch. Do you have an url or maybe a part code that I could use to buy those fill and drain plugs by chance? Thanks in advance!

    • @FigureItAudi
      @FigureItAudi  Месяц назад +1

      The part numbers are in the last screen of the TSB images earlier in the video but to be certain, it's always a good idea to refer to ilcats.ru with your make and model specific information against the part diagrams, or just call Audi and get the parts person to double check what it calls for.
