- Let's build an offroad service truck!
This FSJ Jeep J10 started life as a fun truck ready for the farm... But we want more! Swapping this onto a Cummins powered 1 ton Dodge opens up a world of capabilities! Today I'm planning, ordering, cutting the frame in half and planning some more. This is a great start to building trucks in the new shop!
I hope you enjoy it.

Dirt Reynolds would love your vote, and as always, we appreciate your support! 🙏🤠 www.onxmaps.com/offroad/app/build-challenge
I vote j10. It looks rad
Half j10 bed half flat bed, seen that on newer welding rig truck. Could be cool and different
I would so go with the original bed, hate the flat bed idea.
J 10
J10 Bed
It looks good with the Jeep bed. It makes it unique. Everyone does flatbeds.
Yes, and NO bro smoke stacks!
@@MrMrsregor Stacks are for High Schoolers.🤣
I love flatbeds, but this thing looks awesome with the factory bed. I don't think anything else is gonna beat this look.
Definitely J10 bed. You can modify it if you need to. FWIW, your Lexus build was actually my favorite of any build I have ever watched. I loved how much capability you brought out, with so little actual difficulty or complication. Simplicity is genius.
Thank you bro 🙏. I'm glad you saw what I did in that old 80 series! They are such capable trucks
I had the same thought. I get it wasn’t the most flashy, but I loved all the detail work
J10 all the way..... anyone can do a flat bed.... You can do a cool J10.....
Can an old box bed be thrown in the mix? Tons of storage for tools, recovery gear, and some have welders/ air compressors with them.
J10 bed for sure but add some rub rails/ reinforced fenders so if you do slid into a tree maybe it survives
Leeeve the J 10 bed pls. I have waited over a year to watch you modify that FSJ, ur helping me recover from old age. Godspeed
Honestly that j10 bed is so iconic, i think within the modern world we live in now. There is plenty of parts to modify it to create the usability you are aiming for.
J10 bed for the win.
100 precent!
J-10 bed all the way.
J10 bed! I love builds that add capability without completely changing the vibe of the original vehicle. Your orange 80 series was a perfect example of that- I was shocked by how much suspension and tire capability you were able to engineer while keeping the general vibe of the vehicle honest!
J10 hands down is such a better look for this iconic truck and how few of them you see. J10 bed all day 100%!!!
J-10 BED!!!
Years ago I asked you for advice on welding. I'm now employed as a welder in a engineering shop. Thank you for your support! Your words have motivation and reach!
What do you weld if you don't mind me asking
@@imacaryay7628 C02 welding, mostly fixing masts & carrages for forklits
@@imacaryay7628 Probably metal I assume, but I'm not a welder
@@deletethatstuff 🙃
I love seeing the baby truck help taking parts 😂🥹
And yes, use the J10 bed
J-10 bed!! I love the oem+ look that it brings. Those who don’t know about these trucks may even think it’s factory
J10 bed for sure!
J-10 bed for sure. If you just build a flat bed, it will look like every other old farm truck. Make something unique, Jeep bed.
j10 all the way. it's nice you're making your kid's first off roader. what a good dad. tall swampers>
Love the J10 bed. Glad you gave it one more go.
I'll also add that I appreciated your real life FJ-80 build, and felt it was the perfect build for an all around truck.
J10 all the way. You can always “evolve” later with a flat bed 👍
I'm starting to think this way as well. I could always try the j10 bed first and go from there. 🤘
I did like the stubby wrecker idea, would suit that cab. Kinda like Rorys Old Blue!
I think the jeep bed makes it actually more unique. Go with the J10 bed. Can’t wait to see what this evolves into.
Definitely the J10 bed.
Nooooo! The J10 bed looks is so good! Gotta keep it.
Looks like things have changed and people want the J-10 bed, and I’m all for it! You gotta do the Jeep bed!
Jeep truck bed!!!!
Dirt Reynolds needs the J10 bed. It looks cool and flat beds are a dime a dozen. Loving this build so far!!
J10 Bed all the way. Going to be an awesome build Nate!
Dude! J-10 bed for the win! Can't beat the cool factor!
J10 bed should be the way to go !
J10 bed for sure! I used to have a 69 J20, loved that truck. Wish I had it back.
I think the lines it creates with the factory Jeep bed are outstanding. The symmetry when your eye swoops down the side from the front to the rear and even in the other direction. There is a classiness and an elegance that you will never achieve from a flat bed.
So Please Keep the Factory Bed.
Tbh from a everyday use standpoint, the flat bed is the best choice. But for some reason I still vote for the jeep bed, just looks sick!
Keep the J10 Bed, that looks SO COOL with the J10 Bed
The Intro is Classic!! J10 for sure!! HAPPY BeLAted Birthday!!
I am so glad you are doing very successful! I remember when you started out and quit your pluming job to do this channel. I love watching your videos and they help me a lot. Especially the videos on teaching about axles ratio etc. Again, I am very happy for your success!!!!
Johnny D
I would love to see the jeep bed with service boxes under the bed sides. It would be the best of both worlds.
I voted flatbed last time, but the dually tuck with that 14 bolt axle on the j10 bed is insane. I vote j10 bed now
IMO if you really wanted to go over the top I would think about turning it into a crew cab. It may be a bit much on the time/budget for the competition but they look sooooo sick as a crew cab and you have more room for activities. I’m the fan of a flatbed or utility type bed but I could go either way. The shop is looking great too by the way!
I love the look of the jeep truck! I think leaving the jeep truck bed on and utilizing it is going to look so cool and unique.
J10 bed, slider-nerf bars that tie into fabricated flares into a rear bumper. Tree/rock proof with similar body lines of the truck. I think it would be sweet and still be custom.
Stick with the J10 bed. Keep classic!
Dirt Reynolds will look the best with the J10 bed- That’s my vote 👊👊
You do you. Make it the way it makes you smile. we are fans of your built
JEEP BED!!! Looks so much better after you have set it on top. Using Moab Motorsports Blue is a great modified functional bed!!
I like factory bed!
J-10 bed for sure!!! Can’t wait to see the rest of the build.
I loved that Land Cruiser and the build philosophy behind it, voted for it nearly every day.
Loving this build. Would be cool to see the jeep bed used to make a welder style flat bed, Use the bottom of the jeep bed to match the cab.
Sorry to hear about the Taco. Keep moving forward! Love ya Brother.
Thank homie, I appreciate it 🙏
J10 bed!!! Looks sick
J-10 bed!!!
J10 bed definitely
Looks crazy good!
Happy to be back to the main build series type videos! Love it!
J10 bed, keep body together as much as possible!
It's gonna be awesome no matter which bed you go with but I personally LOVE the jeep bed on it. It's not mine though and you need to build it the way YOU want it!
Stoked to see this project underway!
Seriously hope you can make the jeep bed work!
Hope everybody is safe from the wreck, that sh!t sucks.
Diggin' the new shop, Nate, good on you!
(Also diggin' the father-son time in the shop, always wanted more of that with Pop, but he worked 3 jobs, so.....)
J10 bed for sure it keeps the classic look. I agree with others here to modify the bed as needed but it’s just a cool truck you don’t see much anymore.
dude it would look SO SICK with the j10 bed, if you can make it work for what you are trying to accomplish with gear then do it! that looks sooooo sick
You could always do a pipeliner style flatbed where you do a custom flatbed but use the Jeep bed sheet metal to make it kind of a factory+ look and you could make the upper walls of the Jeep bed fit in to stake pockets on the flatbed so you could retain the factoryish looks. My vote is for an Australian style flatbed, but I understand why you want to keep the original bed. I think a pipeliner style bed would probably be the happy medium.
And as a side note: I loved the LandCruiser build. It was cool to see a very capable rig that didn’t cost an unrealistic amount of $$$$$
Thank you for your knowledge and appreciate that you’d take something that has history and build yourself a truck that’s most likely better than what has been produced out of the big three manufacturers. I’m an old gear head from the rolling 60s, and love building stuff out of someone’s throw always. My son and I pretty much built up an early Ford Excursion and totally went through this glorified F250,which took some time. However, I have a much sot after vehicle that is a great rig seats 8 in solid comfort or pulls and easy 11 thousand pounds in style. It’s a beautiful old truck with a new edge on its life. Keep it moving in your inventing adventures in vehicles.
J-10 bed for sure!
J10 💯!
The original bed looks badass, ima sucker for duallys as well & I can’t wait to see this beast 🔥🔥🔥🤙🏽🙏🏽
Go legit ham on this one. Do a custom bed that integrate the J10 bedsides, slice them horizontally and build internal hinges so you can fold the top half down as work tables/bed access when you're doing trail repairs or cooking lunch.
You have the skills to make that J 10 bed work and it will be sick !!! Anyone can slap on a flatbed … I myself love watching the fabrication and the work arounds to make things fit and work together. Love the series and the content …. Whatever you decide it will be awesome ! Thank you!
J-10 Bed!
OG Bed +1 Flatbed is the easy way👍👍👍
Yes! The time has come! It’s been like 3 or 4 years since we’ve seen this baby!
I think it’s looks awesome. Ultimately, it’s your truck so do what you want. If it were me, I’d do a flatbed for what you’re wanting to do. I’d hate to destroy the bed on a tree or rock. I’ll watch either build. I always learn so much watching your channel. Keep up the great work!
I still say use the bed to make a flatbed hybrid ‼️🫡🏴☠️. Can’t wait to see more.
Im so pumped for this! Still think you need to do something Tremors related with her.
Ooooo tremors! Back to Perfection
Dude, I would love to work in a tremors vibe somehow. My dad took my brother and I to see tremors when it first came out. We saw it on a military base in Greece (we were stationed there), and we were WAY too young to understand what was going on! I remember being scared to let my feet touch the floor in the movie theater 😆. Good old fashioned 80s memories...
If he did that, would have to change the name to something Bacon. I vote Tremors build too.
@@DirtLifestyleyoure going to break an axle pulling crap like that valentine.
@@DirtLifestyle You could take the logo that's on the door of the tremors truck and hide it somewhere either on the dash or the flatbed or something, so it pays homage, but isn't a clone maybe?
Love the name nobody's more of a badass than Burt Reynolds. J10 bed definitely nobody does that
Factory J10 bed with custom dually fenders gets my vote!! Love how the truck is looking
Keep the bed! Or build a flatbed & work the bedsides & tailgate into the build. Bleepin Comanche type beat.
J10 bed, please.
J10 looks the part can’t wait to see it all done
I'm loving the J10 bed...
It will be totally unique with the dualies...🏆
Please, please, please choose this...👍🤩✨
No to the flatbed.
I must have missed it, what happened to the Tacoma? 2:18 shows front right damage.
Didn’t miss anything he hasn’t posted about it yet or maybe isn’t going to not sure
He posted it on his Facebook page. Hit a large elk.
oh dang ya I don’t use Facebook that would explain it lol ya there is some big elk here in the pasific northwest
If I hear back from insurance soon I will have bonus video about this 😎
Yay can’t wait to
The Jeep bed looks awesome. I hope you continue on that path. Either way, loving the series & looking forward to more. Thanks
I vote j10 bed but come up with a quick change system so you can do a flat bed later and go back and forth. Best of both.
Loving the lighting in the new shed. Seems so bright and natural.
I would vote J10 bed too. Like everyone is saying they are just iconic. At the end of the day though you have to do what will fit for your build. Gotta be happy with what you have done. Of course you can always change it later.
Still voting for the J10 factory bed being slightly modified. Love the stock-body look with a vehicle that's not at all stock. It already looks great sitting on there
J10 bed would be I would go....look sweet
Don't worry about looks, concentrate on functionality and the looks will take care of itself.
Absolutely J10 bed, and now that it’s cut and can visualize it with the narrower rear axle, it would look bad ass!! Either way, awesome build idea, can’t wait to see what’s decided!!
J-10 bed all the way!
J10 bed for sure. You have it already and it’ll look great.
I really like the way you include your son!!!!
Definitely should do the j10 bed!
The truck bed is the way to go, Way cooler build.
J10 bed. Your enthusiasm is great.
1. LOVE the Dirt Reynolds, freakin' hysterical. 2. J10 bed! (sorry, I don't even remember what I voted for in the previous video. 3. KEEP IT UP! Whether it's wheelin', or building a shop or a truck, we love what you do!
J10 bed with duallies.... Dirt reynolds will be bad ass.
J10 bed would be sick. I hear you on practicality of a flat bed but it’s a Jeep at heart. Run it
Hmmm. How about a custom Canadian style flatbed with removable J10 side sheet metal?
I loved the Lexus that you and Dave put a ton of work and details into!
This is the content that i love. Lookin forward to this series.
Build is going to be sweet!! Happy Birthday and Glad to see your son out in the shop! My two boys were always helping and learning in the shop
J10 bed has my vote. Also, I loved the “stock on steroids” theme of last year.
100% Jeep Bed. Do that for a while for coolness and you can always build a flat bed in the future. Because based upon your previous vis (using the camping trailer as my example, you will get hung up in the details of the features on the beds design, vs. Just getting this to an operational vehicle. This will allow. You to get it on the road and design (in your head) what you would want on your flat bed. Plus you. An do the flat bed on the side as a parallel project while using this truck.
Please make this with the J10 bed! That would be so over the top!!!
