      Hi, the original engine had about 123,000 miles which equals approximately 193,000 km however there were signs that it has had a new intake manifold at some point and I think the blocked exhaust gas channels have a lot to do with poor maintenance, looking at the amount of carbon build up in the engine in general I don't think the oil was changed that often

    Will it work properly if the flaps are open all the time ?

    • @vauxrez8831

      The twinport system on these engines is designed to improve lower speed torque and fuel economy, Vauxhall/Opel/GM fitted the system for a reason so although the engine will run without the valves/flaps fitted I wouldn't recommend removing them, it will effect the performance of the engine as it will have been mapped to include the changes in airflow caused by the twinport system, also if you removed the control valve and position sensor you will more than likely get the engine management light on all the time

      Hi, thanks for your comment, I think my email address is available through my RUclips channel however I am not a qualified mechanic and don't work in the motor trade, just a keen, and fairly experienced DIYer 😊, I'm always happy to help if I can but I can only really discuss and comment on problems I have encountered or fixed myself, Sorry

    I have done the exact samr thing as in your video but still have no low end torque ...cound the actuator be broken?

    • @vauxrez8831
      @vauxrez8831  10 месяцев назад +1

      its possible, I didn't have any real drop in performance, just the rattle/knock which as you will see in later videos, turned out to be a lot worse

      @@vauxrez8831 i now don't think its the actuator fault as i feel a surge of power when reaching 3000 rpm. Which indicates the actuator and the system is working....so I'll look somewhere else. I suspect the throttle position sensor. (I'm writing this for anyone who still has a hard time finding the problem)

    What is the bearing dimensions and code you use?

      Unfortunately the seller I bought the bearings from is no longer listed on eBay, however the type/size of bearing I used was MR85ZZ 5MM X 8MM X 2.5MM
      Below is a link to a different seller who has this size listed, I hope this helps

    This is such a useful video, I've got this exact engine and I've been spending months trying to trawl around it to find what's wrong with it. Thanks a lot for this.
    Edit: I was wondering if you have a link for a supplier that supplies the swirl flap arm

    • @vauxrez8831
      @vauxrez8831  4 года назад

      Hi, thanks for your comment, unfortunately I didn't replace the arm so I'm not sure where you would get one from as I'm pretty sure Vauxhall/Opel only supply the complete manifold, you could try a breakers yard but they will probably want to sell you the complete unit too

    Vectra 1.6 from 1997 was the best engine without that shitty twinport :(
    So much sensors and other junk on that engine that fails for only 5 horsepower more...
    I removed Egr valve and the twinport nd it runs better than new.
    Even more milage per liter.
