Starting off as an agent is always the best way to go; Most likely you already have most of the tools you need such as Internet, computer, phone, etc. Get training and learn everything working under a brokerage for awhile, then when you feel comfortable enough, become a broker yourself (or even a LEGAL dispatcher)!
Yes I tend to agree but I wouldn’t wish dispatching on my worst enemy. My information is always going to come from the perspective of someone who doesn’t allow agents that have a desire to run their own shops. We create an environment that agents tend not to want to leave. What I’m seeing is that even most brokerages don’t know what they are doing at a level that they can develop agents. They just offer 70/30 splits, truck along for a few years then either switch all their agents to a full salary and axe their commission or go out of business. In most cases the agents learn more from successful agents in their program than they do from whatever “support” a brokerage provides to develop accounts
As long as you can establish a corporate entity and digital bank account in the US for payments this is possible. I would recommend starting by advertising yourself as willing to assist freight brokers with tracking and operations. Use that experience to elevate yourself and try to expand on that with an agent opportunity within that brokerage. Alternately you can seek the same kind of experience with an international freight forwarder operating into Pakistan. There are other ways to get into the international logistics trade
Thanks a lot! Opening a digital account in the US as a non resident in not possible. I have some experience of working in a call center that is functioning under an umbrella of a freight broker in the US. Here, salaries are too low. What I conclude from your precious advice is I need to own an LLC in the US What is the meaning of 'starting by advertising yourself as willing to assist freight brokers with tracking'? Please help me understand this! I'lol be thankful to you.
This Kind of reminds me of the times when most barbers wanted to have their own shops. If you can make a good living independently, while allowing someone with more expertise to carry the name, why rush into unnecessary responsibilities?
Yes exactly. You have to do the math for yourself whether all of the trouble is worth the extra percentage you would be earning. Unless you are playing the long game and sticking with this for at least a decade…being an agent will produce more results in the short term.
@@freightskills I too have a more detailed question that I feel may be better suited as an email, but I don't see that info listed on the video. Is there a way I could get that so that I can ask my question & get it answered by you directly? I see you have a FB group, but I don't know if I want to post it there & get 20 different answers from your community.

Can I start as an agent then transition into being a broker?
Can you join my fb group and ask this? This is a good question. Short answer yes.
@@freightskills I sent a request to join.
How can I become a freight agent or take a freight agency underneath a freight broker in the US. I live in Pakistan.

I'm a W-2 but still interesting stuff.
Both structures have pros and cons sometimes w2 is the way to go
Hi there! Can we talk a bit about the prospects for transitioning from agent to broker?
Hey my email is always open or I encourage you to ask in the Facebook group!
