Hey Tony, if you forget to take it off at a car wash, will that affect anything? I plan to just use a touchless car wash, and don't want to have to unscrew the security bolt every time I wash it, especially in winter.

A little expensive but well worth it IMO, it’s really sturdy and good quality. I live in NYC so we need a front plate but it just ruins the look of the car to me so I keep this in my frunk and just pop it on whenever I have to leave my car parked somewhere. In the very rare occasion I get pulled over for not having it on I’ll just tell them I had a photo shoot with my car and forgot to put it back on and just pop it back on right there lol nice that it has a security screw to keep it in place if you plan on leaving it on long term
I have this install on my M3 and this is the best license plate mount for the M3. I have looked at a few others and they all were more figgity and difficult to mount. This is pricey BUT it is worth it mainly on its design. Very smart design. You you like your license plate on the side of the car, this should work too. The only nitpick I would give this is that its made with 3D printed plastic (VERY HIGH QUALITY THOUGH). I wish is was aluminum.

I’m Just Moved To Hawaii. Hawaii Is A State That Requires Two Licenses Plates. So This Product Is Perfect For My Model 3 Performance. Thx For Making This Video.
One downside I can think of with the Quick Bandit is many people use a grill mesh to prevent bugs and other debris from getting into the grill. You can't have both the Quick Bandit and a grill mesh. Perhaps Tony Pham can design a grill mesh that can coexist with the Quick Bandit, or a Quick Bandit front license plate mount and grill mesh combo.

At $139 this thing is awfully expensive. Don’t get me wrong the craftsmanship looks incredible but I think I’ll “stick” with my tesla provided license plate holder.
Texas requires a front plate as well but I've been w/o one for over a year and no ticket yet (knock on wood). Heating up the surface was not a bad idea but maybe you could have used WD40 or Goof-Off to achieve the same results without having to scrub the remaining residue. Great video as always.
Yeah, DPS seems to be more sensitive on highways to front plate requirement than local PDs on local drives…had my plate on the dash but was warned that it needs to be more visible.
Even when I lived in California for about 30 years, I don’t believe that I’ve ever seen a corvette with a front license plate mounted. So then why mount one on the M3? I owned several cars while living there and I never mounted the front plate. Cops never really bothered me about it. Now living in Phoenix thankfully it’s not required. But even if it was, don’t think that I would install it. As a side note, always seems strange to me that this is supposed to be the United States but yet what you can do legally in one state will get you arrested in another. Seems more like the dividend states to me and even more so with the orange twitler in the White House.
Why? Because the Model 3 front end is too plain, unlike the Model S & X. And cities are directing police to enforce front plate laws more frequently now because it's revenue. But I do agree with you that the laws should be the same in all the states, I never understood why it's different.

Thank you so much for this video and for the discount code, I’ve been searching online for another options because it’s been two months since I got my model Y & I just receive the my license plate a few weeks and I’ve been very hesitant to put the front license holder that came with the car because of the 3M tape that comes with it and also the issue of not being able to remove it when washing the car. So thank you again for this video, I just placed the order. Now I’m just hoping it doesn’t take them weeks to send it.
Only downside I see is that you need the Allen wrench every time you wash your car. But the pro’s outweigh that for sure. Thanks! Will be buying when I get my MYP.
Just ordered this product due in part to your video. Like CA it is WA State law to have a front plate and $136 fine if you're ticketed. For long highway speed trips I may just remove it and put it into the frunk. The drag may not even make a difference, but we'll see. Your videos are top-notch.
Fellow CA native here; I don’t have the front license plate on mine. Whenever I park in neighborhoods that are known for ticketing for no front license plates I just place it in the window and put it away when I leave.

If you bought the product I might be more inclined to believe this review, or maybe even if you had to return it after the review. But getting free stuff for a review, makes it hard not to be biased. But, the SnapPlate is better. And I find it interesting that the Quick Bandit came out after SnapPlate came up with an easy solution put on/take off solution. The 3M tape won't ruin your paint. But normally you would use a fishing line to slowly saw through the tape, then use WD40 (not a heat gun), to remove the tape that's still stuck on the car. WD40 won't harm your paint either and it only takes seconds to remove the tape residue. A thief doesn't need that tool to remove the Quick Bandit. All they need is a pocket knife. And I'd worry about this product damaging the front end if someone backs into you, because as you said this product is solid. You'd want it to break to absorb the impact to protect the front end and that's what the SnapPlate does.
I know I won’t be able to convince you otherwise but I understand where you’re coming from. You don’t know me from Adam but I take pride in the fact that I give unbiased reviews despite the fact I get them for free. I give honest reviews and give my honest opinion. Watch my other reviews and you’ll see that I always point out things I don’t like because nothing is perfect. If you like the snap plate then good for you. I’m glad you are happy with your purchase but that doesn’t mean there aren’t other comparable products out there.

At the time, only Torklift & The Bandit was available for Model 3. Kudos to SnapPlate on the innovative design! Quick Bandit is CNC machined vs 3D printed & an entirely different method of mounting to the upper & lower part of bumper structure instead of clamping on to the grill.
I'm ordering this right now even though my estimated delivery is still 2-4 weeks away. I want to have it at delivery, so they never put the tape one on to begin with (that way I don't have to deal with goo-gone'ing it off). I do live in a state that requires a front license plate. I just hope it works with my license plate cover, although I see no reason why it wouldn't. I am going to wait to order my air intake cover...I know my car will be a 2021 refresh, and I found a place that has the new cover for that, but I want to physically look at the car to make sure I'm ordering the right thing first.

I live in Chicago and I have to parallel park sometimes. Many drivers here are careless and bump into the front and back of my car (not a Tesla), gouging the bumpers with their license plate screws. That bracket would be bent in a New York minute. Pushing on that thing with your hand is way different than a car backing into you. I would need something sturdy on the front that would not transmit the force to the grille or front bumper.
Exactly, you could stick a piece of foam behind it or get the SnapPlate, which is designed to break from absorbing the impact thus saving your front end from damage.
It's not bad. I still like my magnetic mount from Ottosteer a bit better. Mine uses felt on the back of the factory bracket and fits snugly against the car when I have it on. But rarely do....even in California.

Is there a Y model Bandit that has a “snap-off” or other theft resistant screw. Our Bandit was stolen ( no other way it disappeared) last night, without damage to the grill, that we can detect. State of Illinois required front plate. Now we need a new Bandit bracket (and a new set of plates!). Please advise theft-proofing ideas..like glue in the T-style screw head?). Thanks
I live in California also. It can take many years to get a fix it ticket for this and it usually only happens when your getting a ticket for another reason. And like you any plate is an ugly eyesore.
I was pulled over the first day I had the car for not having a license plate on the front despite the fact I had temporary plates. I’m not giving the police any reasons to pull me over. 🚔
My Model 3 came with adhesive front plate mount. Nowhere near air intake. I live in Ohio, and they just passed legislation removing requirement for front plate beginning July 1. I was able to remove the mount without leaving any blemish on the finish. Good riddance! Unfortunately, On July 1 they began the requirement to pay an annual EV tax of $200 to make up for us not paying gasoline tax. Boo!
Next time take some fishing line and run it behind the plate on the adhesive. Gentler and less risky to the plate. Most California Tesla owners do not use a front plate, despite the “law”.
About a year ago (before our Tesla) we got stopped by the California Highway Patrol for not having a front license plate. So it is risky to not have one.
@@susanjohnston4066 Agreed. I was ticketed on an old Prius for no front plate. But it seems that the police look they other way on Teslas, as I have seen very few of them with a front plate, and I personally know of no Tesla driver in California who has been ticketed for no front plate.

Great question! My very first prototypes were designed directly in front of the 70-square inch grill. Sure it will work, but to avoid any issues in the long run, the design is been positioned closely to OEM mount.

I just took it off and used a hair dryer to heat up what was left behind on the car and peeled it off. I also had a recommendation to use “Goo Gone.” Either way it will require a little work to get it off. However, once it’s done, you won’t regret getting the quick bandit. It appears that you did your review immediately after installing the product; but, without any real world testing! I want to know if you notice any rattling sounds or range degradation, especially at highway speeds?!

I have a question related to the front of the Tesla Model 3 as well, it's about the light inside the Frunk. Do you know for sure if it goes off after you close the hood? Do you know how long it takes before it turns off? I put my iPhone in the frunk to video to see when the light time out, but even after over 6 minutes, the light still remains on. I appreciate very much any info you may have on this light. I'd like to know so that I can decide if I need to contact Tesla to correct this or not because I don't want the battery to drain unnecessarily due to this light staying on all the time. Thank you!
Is the light a green color or more like a regular light color (soft yellow). The green color is a glow in the dark feature so it can be seen from the inside.

i just been driving 2 years without front plate on my red tesla in cali i havent gotten any tickets and i dont like plates in center of cars so i bought the tow hook plate but its not on car if i get a fix it ticket i will attatch my tow hook plate get inspected then remove it im not having a plate on my car even if it becomes a hastle
Anyone took their Model Y through an automatic car wash with this bracket? Seeing how close it is to the bumper, the brushes could push it against the bumper or even rip it off the grill?
I order one last month, when i drove though car wash twice both the license plate come off my car, I text the company to find the solution but no respond very bad customer service.

Pretty good ad for the OEM adhesive mount if you ask me. Stays on, comes off with no damage, costs nothing.

I was pulled over the first day I had the car for not having a license plate on the front despite the fact I had temporary plates. I’m not giving the police any reasons to pull me over. 🚔

My Model 3 came with adhesive front plate mount. Nowhere near air intake. I live in Ohio, and they just passed legislation removing requirement for front plate beginning July 1. I was able to remove the mount without leaving any blemish on the finish. Good riddance! Unfortunately, On July 1 they began the requirement to pay an annual EV tax of $200 to make up for us not paying gasoline tax. Boo!

There are many options available depending on style & preference, all designed to avoid getting a fix it ticket. SnapPlate is a good option!
Next time take some fishing line and run it behind the plate on the adhesive. Gentler and less risky to the plate.
Most California Tesla owners do not use a front plate, despite the “law”.
About a year ago (before our Tesla) we got stopped by the California Highway Patrol for not having a front license plate. So it is risky to not have one.
@@susanjohnston4066 Agreed. I was ticketed on an old Prius for no front plate. But it seems that the police look they other way on Teslas, as I have seen very few of them with a front plate, and I personally know of no Tesla driver in California who has been ticketed for no front plate.
If someone backs into it and hits the bottom portion of the frame will it push through the grill?
It def needs a rubber bump stop behind the plate.
Just a suggestion - WD40 is much better and quicker at removing tape/glue etc.
Yep, WD40 is the faster and safer way to remove 3M tape from auto paint.
Here in Ohio they just got rid of the front plate, fight for that where you are!
For many, goal is not to have a front plate, but then bad if something happens & no front plate in Sentry mode / Dashcam

Nice review, interesting design. Wondering if you notice any vibration or wind noise at high speed? Will the plate end up slapping against the bumper?
I haven’t noticed any wind noise and even though you can push it to the bumper it won’t bump up against it during high speeds.
Has been tested by several owners at over 130mph without any issues

I’m curious to understand how any number plate would seriously impact battery cooling? In Australia, at least, the front number plate is not set so low.
Great question! My very first prototypes were designed directly in front of the 70-square inch grill. Sure it will work, but to avoid any issues in the long run, the design is been positioned closely to OEM mount.
It wouldn't impact cooling because the actual opening in the grill is on the passenger side.
Ok now that you have it secured head out to the campground again.

I just took it off and used a hair dryer to heat up what was left behind on the car and peeled it off. I also had a recommendation to use “Goo Gone.” Either way it will require a little work to get it off. However, once it’s done, you won’t regret getting the quick bandit. I have a question related to the front of the Tesla Model 3 as well, it's about the light inside the Frunk. Do you know for sure if it goes off after you close the hood? Do you know how long it takes before it turns off? I put my iPhone in the frunk to video to see when the light time out, but even after over 6 minutes, the light still remains on. I appreciate very much any info you may have on this light. I'd like to know so that I can decide if I need to contact Tesla to correct this or not because I don't want the battery to drain unnecessarily due to this light staying on all the time. Thank you!
Is the light a green color or more like a regular light color (soft yellow). The green color is a glow in the dark feature so it can be seen from the inside.
@@FrugalTeslaGuy Thank you for the reply Mike. The light is soft yellow, it is not the glow-in-the-dark kind, that is why I worry that it may continuously draw power from the battery although it may be negligible.

i just been driving 2 years without front plate on my red tesla in cali i havent gotten any tickets and i dont like plates in center of cars so i bought the tow hook plate but its not on car if i get a fix it ticket i will attatch my tow hook plate get inspected then remove it im not having a plate on my car even if it becomes a hastle

There would be more damage to the front of the car than the grill it’s attached to. There is enough flex to it to prevent it from damaging the grill.

I order one last month, when i drove though car wash twice both the license plate come off my car, I text the company to find the solution but no respond very bad customer service.

I am sorry to say you are putting a lot of effort in to a very simple process. In the UK most number plates are screwed to the car.

Unless the thief has a standard set of Allen wrenches, they can't steal you plate. Lol smh
Don’t think they’d be stealing the plate, more so the plate holder. Also, as you can tell, its easy to steal anyone’s license plate.
It appears to be a less common Torx screw.
I am in CA , don’t have front license plate ,,, it’s a fix it ticket if I do get one , few bucks ,,,, fyi will not buy product , waste of money

I’m assuming you’re referring to auto park? It doesn’t stick out much farther than the one one Tesla provides and I haven’t had any problems.
I haven’t had any problems with mine. I still have plenty of distance when the car says to stop.
