I'm so glad you'll be reading "In Ascension" for book club and that you're enjoying it so far - I love that novel and reread it immediately. 💙 Great to hear your thoughts about the other books and lovely vlog too. 📚
Ah I loved watching your video on it! We have lots of viewers of yours in the SBJ Patreon community and your love of the novel definitely made many of us look forward even more to reading it for book club 💙
loved, loved this Jess! reading vlogs are some of my most, if not the most, favorite types of videos that i always look for in booktube, so this was a great treat. intrigued with all the books you're talking about here, especially The Ascension, which i had been unsure of bc it's relatively lengthy (by my own standard lol). once again, thank u so much for the vid!! 💮🍊🌹
I finished In Ascension a few days later and really enjoyed it! Full review to come but I would say it doesn't *feel* like a long book compared to some others. It can be quite a smooth, quick read!
Loved this style of video! It reminds me of the old uni days when you vloged your day of studying. Its such a great way of getting book content and daily life stuff all in one video! Please make more stuff like this! Lots of love 💕
i've been watching you since 2015, and now i'm gonna start medical school soon. i just wanted to say thank you for being so consistent throughout the years, jess! i can't wait to see where our lives will go in the next several years :)
Lovely reading vlog ! Thank you. I struggle to read outside (in the park for example). I need my quiet environment. But it seems to work with certain contents...
Loved loved loved this more chill vlog from you. It’s a sunbeamsjess vlog just in different, more cinematic font lol. Of course it being a book/reading content elevated it even further 🙌🏽
Hearing Ray Bradbury’s name was a little startling- I haven’t thought about his books since I was a kid and had a mild obsession with his writing. But I got a flash memory of riding my bike to the library every week to see whether any were available for borrowing. So yeah, The Strange and revisiting Bradbury favorites will be on my summer reading list - thanks Jess!
Yes The Strange has been most compared to The Martian Chronicles (unsurprisingly, being set on Mars...) which I haven't read yet! But just in case that happened to be a Bradbury that you particularly liked, you'll definitely enjoy The Strange.
Oh wow!! it’s so bitter sweet! i started watching you when you were a wee teen! I would miss your mums house too! I admire her interior styling and she has the best taste! her new place would look amazing i’m sure as would yours!! please do a house tour before it’s sold! 😢 ❤
Great video as always, even I felt the pressure when you had that deadline to meet 😂 can’t wait to read In Ascension too and going to look up The Strange. Thanks Jess ❤
Really enjoyed this. Was a fabulous behind the scenes/behind the reviews video. Loved, please do do more. Really keen to read In Ascension after you’ve talked about it. Wasn’t so sure before.
So glad you enjoyed!! And yes I finished In Ascension a few days later and really liked it. Might frustrate the avid sci fi fan as its more literary in style/ending but perfect for my tastes.
Oh! Have you done a video on your note-taking process recently? I’m always nosy about how people take notes and I thiiink you made a video for your uni thesis notes at some point, right? 🤔
I absolutely adore this type of video. Please keep this format going! Perfect mix of book chat, B-roll, and clips of life.
Yes, exactly! 🥰
this made me nostalgic to your vlogtobers from years ago when you were hitting deadlines for school! loved this
im so excited that you're really leaning into book content these days. this little corner of youtube needs you!
Please do more of this style of vlog in future Jess! It’s a lovely hybrid of old sunbeamsjess and new bookish content 😊

Thank you so much, so glad you enjoyed! I love making it!
The only book I read by Ann Leckie is The Raven Tower, and it ended up on my top reads of 2022.
I’ve started a “reading a book from every country” challenge but I might have to make an exception for The Strange and read another American novel.
Oo this sounds so interesting!! Will have to follow along ❤️
currently in between 3 books, reading literary criticism n writing up a research proposal yet still procrastinating everything
good luck with your proposal!!
Loved the vlog!
Yes, please to make more reading vlogs. :)

Why don't you write your reviews on the pc? Curious on how you take notes, I have a review blog as well but sometimes I feel my reviews are lacking

Loved this vlog. Could you throw the black outfit at the beginning up on ur styles tiktok please (sorry if you already have)? Thank you.
Hello! I was wondering if any of the authors are BIPOC?
Hi Jess ❤
Hi! ❤️
❤❤❤
You’re dishy ain’t ya.
Not a dig *whatsoever*, I'm just curious -- doesn't your mom need any of her furniture??
She did buy some new for the other house and much of this stuff is being sold too! But yes she is missing some stuff 😂
