They should start giving youth that come from poverty and low income lifestyles to discuss things such as this. I like these people, but for a more realistic and relatable conversation. It’s ok to get people that are not famous or rich.
i agree with you, daliah. many people stemming from poverty have a different perspective to offer due to their experience of oppression and hardship. first hand experience of problems these very folk talking on this video are advocating for.

Many poor people don't have this perspective that's right because many are mentally oppressed and feel like things will never change. The catalyst for freedom includes those who already have it acknowledging the injustices of the world and speaking out and fighting along side the marginalized.

Tiana Morris but to have an honest conversation about issues, you need people who see different angles of a situation. You learn more from those who are different from you not ones who are the same as you. And it seems like they are all on the same side here just talking. The world will begin to change when we all join the conversation for change not just one group of people. It would have made the conversation more interesting tbh.

I appreciate the fact that if you don't have anything to contribute to a given subject or topic, may it be because of your lack of experience or knowledge or you just don't want to contribute, that it's ok to just sit there and agree. It's those who come from lower income who continuously are suppressed. Having someone from lower income and also having an advocate discuss these issues would be more reality than fantasy. We ARE changing and HAVE changed the past century. Let's continue to do so.

To be honest yes it is unfair having people who don’t face these insignificances talking about them when they can’t understand them in real depth. But at the same time we should be grateful that they are using their platforms and “fame” as a way to bring change etc. So many famous people don’t use their platforms to help others. So many people get rich and get attention and forget about the rest of society yet these teenagers are actually taking time out to widen their knowledge and empathise with others. when in all reality they don’t have to do so. They could easily sit back and live life,spend ,money daily etc etc. I feel like it’s easy for us all to complain but instead of complaining why don’t we go out their as people who do face these problems and talk about them ourselves. It takes hard work and dedication but instead of protesting against them why not work hard and learn from them as well. We all need to work together that’s one of the main problems in society.

Honestly, I do feel like most of the people on that stage probably never went through the things that they are preaching about and I also think that there should have been more diversity in viewpoints so that we could probably meet common ground on issues but I must say that this event was clearly meant to be a peaceful discussion from well known people to get awareness for the people who actually are going through these things. I wish people in the comment section would stop being petty and state their actual thoughts on the conversation instead talking about everything else that doesn’t matter.

The thing that our generation has done is that we allowed these certain individuals to represent us as a whole. We need all the support we can get, but not everybody is meant to be a leader. Our society and culture as a whole has created this epidemic of blind conceited “intellectuals.” The ones who lead us out of oppression back then weren’t born with a silver spoon in their mouth. They had to struggle right along with us! And it made them fight harder. They weren’t accepting the norm and they weren’t trying to feed us their agendas. They guided us, they taught us, they fought for us. We can’t grow if everybody agrees with each other. Ideas have to be challenged! Action speaks louder than words! And no matter how many big words they spit to us, we need to see the work and the fruit of it. In my community we haven’t seen it! I think they’re all talk no action! What they advocate for is not long lasting! They’re not listening to the people and how they feel or the questions they have, they’re listening to themselves. We need to stop pushing these “celebrities” to speak for us and do it ourselves. They can donate and protest, but a lot of these “kids” need to stay in their lane! We need to look at the OGs and learn from them!!!

Yes, they are young, but they are well informed, proactive and with very positive messages for the future. They are a good representation for their peer group. To me, they really show that the lazy millennium stigma is not entirely true.

What disappoints me about my generation's media leader's is the negligence attitude of push back and opposing opinions. If we completely ignore them or disengage in conversation with those people we will only continue to drive away from one another. The goal is a better world for us all, and their needs to be a constant unconditional trying of at best understanding and at least compromise. I am excited and pleased by the new topic of conversation the new generation of youth has, I hope that one it broadens and two we are less praised on how "mature " we our focus is in comparison to previous generations. Congratulations isn't bad but assuming so little of our consciousness is a bit insulting. Almost like, "Wow you speak so well for a black girl." . Don't assume anything, let alone limits.
