I searched for "Peps persson hög standard" on youtube and got a bunch of performances, live ones and studio versions. And a few other of his songs. Peps was definitely famous in Sweden, and especially in the 70s, which were his heyday.
He's famous for bringing reggae and blues to Sweden and this is one of his blues songs, if you want to hear reggae I recommend his most famous song "oh boy"
Peps was world famous here in Sweden...;) There has never been anyone like him in this country - his musical career spanned 5 decades. I had the pleasure of watching him in a concert 50 years ago - that was a good show.
Peps is a musical legend here locally. He sings in a strong Scanian accent (south Sweden) so many Swedes don't understand him so well. But he was a true original and extremely musically taleneted, it was as if music was flowing in his veins. He was very cool in the real sense, relaxed and easy. But he was a perfectionist about music so not many live versions exist and he didn't record any live albums, but he was absolutely best and amazing to see live with all improvisations.
Peps is(or was. R.I.P.) one of the biggest influensers of Blues & Raggae in Sweden^^ -You should react to his most popular song: "Ohboy" !! ❤😃 -it was released in 1994 but became a huge hit in 2007-2009 ^^ ALSO: Another great, great GREAT raggae artist is "Kapten Röd"!!❤❤❤❤ His lyrics are amazing...!!^^ Song tip: * "1 000 000 Nollor" * "Trasig" * "Stjärnorna finns här" & * Över min döda kropp"
Haha, sorry we forgot Peps Persson. But I would also recommend that you check out Miss Li - Här kommer natten (Here comes the night/The night is coming). The context is that it's a tv-show where different artists interpret each others songs. So she is doing a cover on Pugh Rogefelds (R.I.P) song. It's amazing. (at 6.03 - yes I think it's him in the beginning because the guy is talking about the band and how they like intimate shows where they get closer to the audience)
Hög standard. Vad fan är hög standard? Vad hjälper det med hus och villa? När du mår så jävla illa? Pepps and his Band of Blood completely rocks, and Pepps brought Reggie to Sweden. Oh boy, vilket vackert väder, such a good song.
Peps was a old friend of mine but passed away recently. He was from the south is Sweden where the dialect is kind of different and suits blues and reggae music better. Here is a real reggae song on Skånska (the dialect down here!) The song: Oboy RIP Peps and Bosse (the drummer) PS: Sujy is lovely with lipstick! 🌹 ruclips.net/video/H0R9kGv2Ykk/видео.htmlsi=FrBJ9wyduKPaQrPY
Peps Persson, born 20 December 1946 in Klippans parish in Kristianstad county, died 27 June 2021 in Vittsjö district in skåne county. You hear a lot of his Skånska dialect
The first song that came into my head when you called for good music that no one would guess was Swedish is Hoffmaestro - Highway man. ruclips.net/video/pHo97vRiS5w/видео.htmlsi=WSg8SsjZxpxPDdzc
I really love Peos Persson but he comes from the south of Sweden. Im living just 300 km from there and I have to try very hard to hear wath he say becouse he has so diffrent dialect of the swedish language.
I don't know who speaks in the beginning or where the video comes from. It seems he was talking about the performance and how "they" (the audience maybe?) don't know what song it is or what it's about but that doesn't matter because it's about the music and the feeling it conveys and how it may give "them" a different music experience than what "they" (again the audience perhaps?) is used to. So it's possible the guy talking was one of the musicians. Peps was a very well known singer in Sweden but I think his kind of music don't have a very large audience. I think of blues when I think of him. I think his most well known songs (Like Oh Boy!) are perhaps more to the reggae style? I am not sure. I don't always know how to seperate the genres when they can sound very similar to me. And again you've found an artist from my part of Sweden, Skåne (=Scania) and he sings in our dialect. In fact he lived where I work and you could often see him at ICA (the mini market store). I really like that you find artists that catch your eye (or ear) and look them up and that it's not just the big very well known ones but the smaller ones as well. Makes for more unusual reactions.
If you want Swedish Reggae I can suggest ELiiphant.:dancehall pop Kapten Röd Syster sol General Knas Svenska akademin Governor Andy All reggae . that give you start to a deep rabbit hole of Swedish reggae ;)
