The Stonewallers are Easy Company of the 116th Infantry Regiment of the 29th Infantry Division. During D-Day, E Co. 116th went completely off course and landed in the 1st wave in the 1ID designated landings. They ended up merging into the 1ID units and fought their way off the beach and stayed attached to 1ID for a couple of weeks till they were able to link back with their main Regiment. They are called "Stonewallers" because their Regiment at the time was called the "Stonewall Brigade" for their unit history was tied to General Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson of the US Civil War. The nickname for the Regiment was the "Stonewallers". Thus their inclusion to 1ID. The Stonewallers came from research I did for Striketeam to try to add a line Infantry unit for A phase for the community on discord were complaining how 1ID only had assault units. I was asked to do some research for I am a known amateur historian in the community and served in 1ID in Iraq. The Stonewallers was a compromise for the community that MadMat liked.
7:19 - IIRC, these guys are from another Division. As in, literally, they're from another Division, but their Landing Craft just got lost and they ended up with BRO on D-Day.
One thing to note quickly about the AA tab for this one, if I recall correctly from the devblog, is that the Bofors can be called in with the M16 as the transporting vehicle.
One thing that is missed in this video is that the bofors can come in M16 transports which only cost 30pts. So discounted M16s which feels very strong. The A20 is going to be PE-2 before nerf level good. It goes 380km/h with a huge loadout. 12 rockets is a shitton. It also has very good resilience and medium agility. Almost all other very good resilience have Worst agility which means this is super tanky. And because its rockets it will spend less time over enemy AA as it fires and returns earlier hence this will almost never be shot down by AA. So unless its an error this plane will be a meanace
Realistically unless some stuff really happens between now and the release of this DLC, this division probably won't make the cut into tournament play outside of comfort picks or an obscene amount of bans. It will struggle with long/medium range both in inf and armor. And for close range maps there are plenty of divs that would wipe the floor with this. As atkpwr says there aren't really any good cqc troops in this and shermans don't hold up. This looks to be around 44th or Corpul 6 in power level and function.
Assault Teams are used for bridging woods to light to woods, also for fighting in towns. I think they need a review, according to the stats you can tow a gun connected to a DUKW trough deep water e.g. M3. I think the P38s may have faster deployment - so 3 call outs per phase rather than 2 (not sure) as its a lighter loadout
Atkpower bracing himself for the most OP division ever and then just flatlining in disappointment after the Recon and Infantry tabs was certainly funny to watch. BRO looks like a V for Victory deck. The A phase Assaulters aren't super scary, but should hopefully be enough to secure a flag or two early, then lock it down in B with 2k HE and AT guns. Finish it out with mountains of upvetted Rifles(late), Shermans, and Long Toms. I'm actually a little worried they are playing it too safe after MoS. While there is always a risk of putting out OP stuff, (which wouldn't be a problem if they actually patched the game at a decent clip) there is just as much of a problem with releasing divisions that no one has any reason to be excited about either. New divisions should attempt to do something new and interesting, and what we've seen thus far really doesn't.
VFV feeling is a trap due to m4a1 avail but we don’t care about tank tab it is bad Maverick and Vanguard are the way Lot of ford Gpa 100 km/h and duwkh 80 km/h Excellent infantry to trade in A and push in B M8 P-38 bomber 135 pts OP 170 pts in A The At gun free vet The cheap and cost effective AA The incredible support tab The m10 and m5 76 mm in B
@@atkpwrgaming I feel that in the long run it is better to release slightly OP divs and nerf them down quickly. So far outside of 2nd SS I don't see a reason to buy this DLC as the divs are kinda bland and not strong. I can't imagine that I am alone in feeling this way; especially since cost of living is going up. I wouldn't find it unreasonable to see that the DLC sales numbers would be sluggish on this compared to MoS that people needed to buy to remain competitive (This is it's own problem outside of the scope of this comment). Which could have two effects: 1. Eugen learns that to get sales they need to provide DLCs that people want to buy, and releasing exceedingly OP divs is a lot easier and less time consuming than releasing balanced, unique divs. 2. If sales are low for an extended period of time Eugen could stop supporting SD2 since the costs of having the dev team on it exceed the revenue. TLDR: I think releasing slightly OP divs to get sales, and then patching them to be balanced, is better for long term health of the game compared to lackluster sales of a boring but balanced DLC causing exceedingly OP future DLCs like MoS
I feel like this Div has some of the best 2K not just the large amounts of cards but each of the 2k HE units are really solid with the open top ones having double .50 cal to mess up any infantry that get caught trying to sneak up on it and the towed 105mm guns being perfect for sniping AT guns that you don't want to try engaging with the self propelled guns.
it definitely has some power in A phase for going hard on assaulting, I feel like its a pretty solid division for bite and hold playstyle with the Maverick playstyle though it could probably work for Balanced too.
@@josephmorales521 between the 2K HE and assault focused A Phase units and the high vet availability units in late phases it really would punch hard in A phase
@@dominuslogik484 it definitely seems like it punches hard in A, but a lot of the juice of the division is c. I can see people trying to play Vanguard or Maverick. I just see more balance style. You want best and cheapest. Pre-order pack with 2 divisions and then Nemesis for battles of Dunkirk, Toulon and Rimini for 2 divisions each. Good idea is to buy Steel Division Normandy 1944 base game and for that you get Back to War DLC for free on SD2.
I think I want Steel Division with all dlc. Is there an bundle with that? Not all bundles show what’s inside. Is there one with sd2 and all dlc(or many dlc)?
as I feel obliged to bring up the tiny Baltic village state again I feel like it would be nice if Eugen added 20th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS (1st Estonian) to the game which was formed in 1944 so it would be the right time period for the game.
@@atkpwrgaming made up from volunteers and conscripts with volunteers that fought in Finland during the winter war and a part of the continuation war. They had a light and heavy artillery regiment as well as a lot of combat veterans who had formerly fought in the Ukraine combat theater
Man this one just seems neutered compared to the German one. Hopefully they adjust the tab cost considering they’re completely phase locking basically every single unit in the game.
Phase-locking doesn't make much sense unless it's being done for all divisions. Previously made divisions will have a lot of advantages. Never did see the changes to the Bren gun.
most divisions have some stuff that is phase locked which as the other guy said is done for historical reasons while also being done to incentivize a unique playstyle and balance the division. as for the changes to the Bren gun the rate of fire was reduced from 252 to 240 rounds per minute and the accuracy was buffed from the orignal 10% to 15% which makes it the most accurate machinegun in the game. Bren guns on vet squads now can reach 18% accuracy which makes them function like longer range FG-42 and absolutely lethal.
Until now i dont see any reason to buy this DLC, just more of the same bland divisions. Yeah Man of Steel has some very stupid OP div but at least all of those has his own color, these Normandy divs looks like vanilla SD2 divisions IMO
