    We pulled into El Questro in 2019, convoy of three with four shredded tyres and one cracked rim - don't ask (the road wasn't graded but the council had dropped tonnes of shrapnel in prep for lambs foot rollers and then grading.
    The workshop was very helpful - they make a daily trip to the K and brought us back 12 tyres, a greasable shackle bolt and other sundries for $200 transport fee (pre-paid for tyres). They then fitted some tyres for $200 and a carton of smokes. The cracked rim was left overnight for a snapping weld and good to go.

      Wow! Amazing work from the workshop! Very very handy place to have on The Gibb for sure!
      The Gibb has definately provided us both with some memories we will never forget! 😁🤙

    Best way to deal with those corigations is around 60-70 kms an hour. Once you get the freqency right. You glide straight over like their not even their.

    It probably would pay to carry obvious spares such as u bolts?, nuts, bolts. Spare Anderson plugs . Soldering iron
    Fuses. Engine belts. I would carry a compact stick welder and a small qty of steel angle and plate etc.

    Nice to see the ladies getting involved with off road videos after all they are there too. FYI, I have done 1000's of kilometres on dirt road mainly in the 70's and 80's but last year we took our 2012 ford territory awd up the Great Central Road from Perth to Uluru towing a off road trailer (not a flash one either) we had one issue with a old tyre. I don't recommend lowering tyre pressures below the recommended operating pressure unless it is boggy. Lower pressures increase the chance of side wall damage from sharps and can greatly reduces handling when you need it most. I ran 36 psi, the same as I do for around town.
    Good video just the same.

    You are ticking off so many of those iconic Gibb things every day, what an experience to look back on 😊. So sorry about todays damage, but it’s probably a blessing that it happened at such low speed. I’ve got a question - would you rather drive on really really really really soft sand, or corrugations ?? 😂😂. Good luck for the next few days. Same thing is happening in the Flinders and north of there at the moment.

    OMG what a bugga! Luckily Kununurra is not too far away as something like that needs luck on their side. I mentioned about driving on the other side of the road to avoid the worst of the corrugations. Perhaps it was my suggestion or else others know the same trick. 😊 In anycase I hope it helped a bit. I think if I was going there I would get a rooftop sleeper for that specific trip. And I would most likely be travelling alone too which appears to be not a good plan for that area. They certainly seem to be the worst corrugations in Australia. Not even across the middle of the continent has them that bad. But I don't know about laying bitumen all the way despite what people say about it increasing tourism. They might want the extra revenue but do those places need the extra crap that goes with easily accessed tourist places.
    I hope your steak dinner was good. The rain is coming! I hope you don't end up having to leave there too soon. 🙂

    • @fivedownunder
      @fivedownunder  Год назад

      Yes I agree, those are the worst corrugations we have ever done and we have been to the Cape and have done the Oodnadatta Track aswell as other corrugated roads and nothing compares, the sheer length if the corrugated roads is the bad part.
      We are lucky that this happened closer to Kununurra, rather than in the middle of The Gibb, that would have been a disaster 😳

    'll never understand why people drag bloody overweight Mcmansions around . The twin cab manufacturers max tow weight are just bullshite. • @fivedownunder

      All good mate, each to their own, we knew there could be damage doing The Gibb but we have done the experience because we are travelling Australia and with 3 kids in tow, we'd rather do it in a caravan and not a tent etc... it works for us and that's all that matters.
      As for weights, we have done the right thing and have been weighed, hence why we chose a lighter van to suit our car.
      But yes, like I said... each to their own. We knew what could happen coming in to this... along with everyone else that does The Gibb 🤙
