Thanks, Mark, for the excellent review. My wife purchased the rebel as her first bike after passing her test on one. She picked this bike mainly for the very low seat height, she being only 5' 1" tall. Mods to help her were, handlebar riser (which brings the bars up & back) adjustable leavers (she has small hands) heated grips as she suffers from Reynaud's disease (hands affected by cold) Other mods are, radiator guard (why do bike manufacturers omit a rad guard?) panniers, top box, LED driving lamps, screen & sat nav. She has now done 8,000 miles on it & loved every mile. We highly recommend the 500 Rebel & as a bonus, it's A2 licence compliant 😁
Great review Mark! I upgraded Rebel 300 to 500 it’s a nice little jump up especially since I switched 2019 to 2022 to I got the new L.E.D lights and slipper clutch as a bonus. The power upgrade was worth it! The parallel twin beats the single %100. Thought about the 1100 but I thought it might be a bit overkill for me as I’m a smaller rider.
Nice review. I love mine for all the reasons you cited. Very peppy for a 500. Cruise all day at 70mph no problem. Great mileage for times such as these.

That gap between the tank and the frame is a real eye sore. I would worry about getting beached on a speed hump or kerb with the extended wheel base and low clearance. Most of the learner bikes or even bikes costing half the price has a nicer speedo than this. Probably the Rebel 1100 has a slightly better speedo which unfortunately cannot be used on this bike. Something like the Royal Enfield gauges would look right at home here and raise it a notch or 2 in class. Such a pity. Another thing pointed out by another reviewer is that there is a particular vibration at 110 km/h, which happens to be exact speed where most highway users (in my country) travel at. 10 km/h less, or 10km/h more and the vibration disappears but that's 10km/h over the speed limit or 10 km/h slower than traffic. The standard seat out of the factory is just useless but at least, it's easily replaced. Although i am thinking of getting one, those 2 factors are holding me back and there are no ways to solve those problems - basic speedo and vibration at 110km/h.
My Speedo is unreadable in certain conditions so I had a 12 volt accessory socket fitted and bought a GPS Speedo that plugs into it.The seat is very painful.I had mine altered by SAS Auto trim for only £80 including postage (including passenger seat).I fitted mirror extenders so that I can actually see behind me and also adjustable levers.A rack and top box complete the changes.

I have a 22 rebel 500 and I have to say without a doubt it has the single worst seat ever fitted to anything ever. I'm not a big guy and it is wildly uncomfortable after 20-30 mins of riding. its a great bike other than that
I love these Honda 500s - I think any one of them would be a great choice. It seems that the Rebel 500 is still carrying a premium price here in NZ. I am looking at CB500F or CBR500R for my next bike. ( There are benefits to staying below 600cc here in NZ - thanks tax )

@@janegrieve yea it’s weird. The States has got plenty of them???
I've already reviewed the 1100 it's on my channel best regards mark

@@markpulling12 cheers man. Love your work mate 😀
I have a 22 rebel 500 and I have to say without a doubt it has the single worst seat ever fitted to anything ever. I'm not a big guy and it is wildly uncomfortable after 20-30 mins of riding. its a great bike other than that
Parallel-twin doesn't have a nice rumble... unless we compare it to a lawn mover perhaps.
A v-twin would be in perfect order for this bike.
10:10 It looks like the speedo disappeared for a bit there. Were you able to see it clearly at all times?
Hi it's an LCD display on these and although not as good as TFT ...I had no problems reading it all the time
Best regards mark
I love these Honda 500s - I think any one of them would be a great choice. It seems that the Rebel 500 is still carrying a premium price here in NZ. I am looking at CB500F or CBR500R for my next bike. ( There are benefits to staying below 600cc here in NZ - thanks tax )
Hi Dan think the F model is my favorite out of this line up
But they are the all great 👍
Cheers mark
@@markpulling12 thanks Mark - definitely eyeing up a nice red one with ABS for my next bike. The fuel economy is pretty amazing for these bikes. Love your reviews!
im in the market for a bike. This would be my first motorcycle. being 6 foot 230 lb my ONLY concern is my size. I sat on a 300 at my motorcycle training course, and peg position and seating felt small.
I am 6, 7 and I have a vulcan s. I fit fine on it. Nice bit of pep in the engine when you need it.
Hope that helps.
Hi Mark,
Thx for your rewiews, what can you tell about the seat? Is it really confortable?
Thx
Sam from Belgium
Hi Sam ...it's ok average...good for about an hour or so but it really depends on the person
A lot of owners change the seat
Best regards mark
don't like the way this tank looks. it should wrap around the frame
It is a good bike. It is a comfy bike. But as you somehow the styling isn't there.
Use a plastic wrap up wrap around the frame 😂
This or the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650? As a beginner bike?
Hi they are both about the same power ...the rebel is much lower seat ...my choice is the royal Enfield it has a nicer engine but they are both brilliant machines cheers mark
@@markpulling12 Thanks much! It's unbelievable, RE's rise in recent years
The whole leg situation seems a bit cramped there. I think the foot pegs are way too close to the seat.
Good Job for this Review.. cool!
Thanks Archie :)
likewise in the Rebel 1100 chain drive - the belt would be better, lighter, serviceless
A 16 litre tank I'd have been interested in this but I dont think tank size + price diff I'd get one over the Meteor. Lookswise also.
So for me its a non starter but a decent review n bike as always👍
My first time riding..honda cb300r or honda 500 rebel?
Either Is fine for a first bike ...just depends on what style you prefer
But both are great 👍
Best wishes mark
@@markpulling12 That Rebel would have to be the crusiest beginner bike. Not my personal taste but it has a certain character about it that flips the bird to Harley's. LOL
Subscribed!
Does this bike come with forward controls
Hi they are mid mounted :)
Cheers mark
Honda Really have the 500cc
Market Sewn up . I think Benelli
Have a 500cc ?
Cant think why Triumph dont
Make one !
Awesome bike but would like to see feet forward pegs.
Thanks Kevin yes that would be great 👍
Hi Mark, I really find your reviews informative. I've heard seat is not comfortable on long trips. What are your thoughts on this?
Hi burak ...it's ok ...not super plush ..Its ok for up to 2 hour rides then you'll need to get off ...there are lots of more comfortable upgrades available but generally s great cruiser bike
Cheers mark
Would I get 80 mpg at 80mph on the interstate?
Hi no USA gallons are smaller than UK gallons and at ,80 mph you would probably be running at about 65 mpg cheers mark
@@markpulling12 Holy cow, I never knew that…and I’m a trivia champ, lol. That’s strange, are your quarts not a quarter of a gallon? Or is a quart not 4 cups? Two pints? I’ll look this up, no need to explain, lol.
What’s the difference in an A2 and full license?
A,2 is up to 47 HP full license is no limit cheers mark
@@markpulling12 cheers mark, I mean is the full license much different to passing a2
@@lassydogpie5390 no it's much the same but you need to be over 24 years old :)
@@markpulling12 Arh got you, so basically anyone over 24 just goes for the full license
Nice one again.
Your roads must be smooth. I didn’t hear the inevitable blasphemous utterance at the spine-pothole moment.
nice one MP.
somebody buy one for me please. lol I would love one but its just affording one for me is the problem. bikes are more expensive over in Northern Ireland.
0:10 music ?
Ra. Let good times roll
Cheers mark
@@markpulling12 thank you very much sir
The headlight needs work in design.
I'm sure its a decent bike for the price but cannot get on with the looks, specifically incline to the tank and frame from the seat to the headstock, its just wrong.
Thanks for the comment Paul
Good point 👍
Thanks for the review, Mark, but can’t see the point in owning one - aside from the low seat if one is short in the leg. And it’s not a poseur bike, it is? Money better spent elsewhere.
Thanks for the comment Nigel ...it's a great bike for people that like this "look" not me personally I'd go for the F model but I'm sure the low seat will attract alot of people
Cheers mark
What exactly is a “poseur bike”?
@@TheAlibabatree someone who likes to show off :)
@@markpulling12 Then wouldn’t it be the exact opposite? I dont like the term “poseur”, but according to your definition, it would fit Harley Davidson bikes, not Hondas.
Very capable bike, but a massive styling miss for me. One of the ugliest bikes I have ever seen. Wouldn't swap my Meteor for two of them.
Thanks Nicola ...the royal Enfields are spot on with their looks 💯
Cheers mark
Totally agree ....a bike only its mother could love ! ....I have no doubt its a good reliable bike ...but its a no from me
@@willyrackham2957 Every person I’ve ever come in contact thinks its one of the best looking bikes they’ve ever seen. Maybe you have an unpopular opinion? Is it a macho Harley thing?
F
I have gator phobia, sorry.
One of the worst bikes ever made by Honda. Don't bother.
😅.
Very disappointed with honda their older cruiser models where a thing of beauty now they look awful 😖
Have Honda had a touch of the vapours ? That’s ugly man.
It's horrible lol!!!.
