You probably dont give a shit but does anybody know of a trick to log back into an Instagram account..? I was stupid forgot the login password. I would love any tricks you can give me!
I have just bought that exact bike a few points to add, the front binnacle does a great job of covering the cables and wiring harnesses making the front end much tidier. The CMXS also includes the blacked out front fork covers, the exhaust although looking like a turd does have a nice rasp when you give it a quick twist in commuting traffic. The LED headlight is very bright however it's interesting on dark roads, there is no transition at the edge of the light beam, it's either super bright or unlit. It is a bike that adapts to an amazing range of riders, I'm about 1.65 M but only 27 inch inseam, I'm also 60 years old developing arthritic hands and knees, this thing is just so easy to step over and the controls specially the clutch are so light and progressive to use that even on the most painful of days it's still a dream to ride. The power is more than adequate for any legally posted speed limit, then some. Perfect for a relaxed hills ride taking in the sights and a coffee stop with your mates, you won't get left behind.
@@davidowen4350 the bike weight is fine, very light and stable. If you are a heavier rider you will not enjoy it the seat doesnt have enough padding and suspension is jarry and continually hitting bottom
@@rayg9069 Thanks for that info. 14 miles to a litre town roughly about 70 to the gallon. It seems to do worse on a run which is the opposite to most bikes, usually they do better on a run unless you hammer them but around town they do less. I am tempted but I'm finding it hard to find any bike that offers the same as my NTV700 or even close with a similar performance. I don't need such a big bike but I do like to ride on motorways from time to time, I find my NTV so good but around town is a bit big. I thought about the CB500 x but that bike is so tall I want something I can just slump onto when I finish work and relax all the way home on, this kinda fitted the bill but that 11 ltr tank is tiny, I would end up going to the petrol station way too many times to make such a bike viable for me.

Another great review. I saw your first test of the 2017 model and decided I would buy one. I have now nearly saved enough now to buy the 2020 model where they seem to have listened to users and made the improvements. I think the exhaust looks and sound is ok on the Rebel.
I bought the CMX 300 Rebel for my 18 year old daughter to learn to ride on a few months ago. She passed the MSF class and I got her a motorcycle. Yep, she's spoiled. Thing is, I like riding it, too. Even the small-engine version is nice. I have my sights set on a new motorcycle for me, too. I'm considering the Rebel 500, the Shadow 750 Aero, or the Rebel 1100 for me. Our local motorcycle shop does not allow test rides, so I'm watching video reviews.
Nice review. Have a 2017 Rebel. Had a Harley rider get on it and go for a quick spin. He loved it. Liked the light weight and responsiveness in corners. Just a fun, good looking bike that will get you where you need to go and keep you looking good without breaking your bank account!
Totally agree. My Mrs. took that very bike for a test ride, the first of several planned, and bought one on the spot! She absolutely loves it. The only gripe I have is the pegs get in the way when I'm backing it out of the shed, that's probably only cos I'm used to the forward controls on my bike. Sadly, due to the whole social distancing malarkey, I didn't get a cuddle from Ian!
Im in the same boat. Fell in love with this bike but have been putting off buying one as im 6"2. Havent been able to find a review from someone the same hight until now. Will soon have one of my own thanks to this video. Awsome content
Thanks for the reviews on these middleweight Honda bikes. A lot of reviewers either don't bother with these or they rush through them. The only other thing I would like to know is service costs/intervals, cheers:)
Cost will probably vary with location. But intervals are 1000km / 600miles run in service, then after that every 12000km / 8000miles. Oil change once a year if you run it less than 12k a year, brake fluids every 2 years, radiator coolant every 3 years.
I'm 58 and haven't ridden a bike in 30+ years. I'm 5' 8" and only 11 stone so this would be perfect for me. The problem is that I don't have a garage and I'm 3k short of purchase price. But god I want one!!
It's a good bike for getting back into riding, a couple of hours trotting about in parking lots and quiet streets, and you get right back into it. I bought one just for that reason, and I am loving it. A good all weather cover, disc lock and chain works well if you have no garage. Of course if you live in a high crime area, that might not be enough.
I have one, they are so light and forgiving to ride I'm 59 only 5' 7" with a 27" inseam, flat foot both sides with bent knees, controls are super light and the bike is well balanced at low speed. Sell the wife or kids, it's worth it :-)
What a fantastic review! I'm sold! I mainly wanted to know if you get wind-blasted and sounds like that cowl helps eliminate that? Is the cowl stock...I think you said it was? I'm 5'9" so it should fit me well. I thought you did a wonderful job explaining what this bike is all about. Would you do long distance tours on it? I can only have one bike!
I sat on a Rebel 300 at a dealer, and I didn't care for the ergos. The 500 is the same. I may try it again as I like the 500cc engine. I ride a Yamaha Super Tenere now and I sit much higher. Gonna check out the CB500 X/F asap too. I want a smaller bike for around town...👍😺
Excellent review. Very thorough, indeed. I missed it when it came out. I have a question: Is the rear mudguard steel or plastic? If it's steel, a good luggage option would be to stick a big magnetic tank bag on it.
I had a 2018 Rebel...but the single cylinder 300 version. I thought the bike was going to vibrate apart at high rpm. It felt like I was riding a power sander, or the paint mixing machine at the hardware store. Also the seat felt like I was sitting on a 2X4. So after only 30 minutes of riding, I hurt 'down there', and my hands were numb. It was my first motorcycle and I bought it because it was said to be a good first bike. I learned on it. Not only how to ride, but what I like and don't like. And I discovered I'm just not a cruiser guy. It handled well, I'll give it that....and that's probably what I needed in a first bike. But because of the vibrations, it had to go. Was considering a Honda CB500X, but none in my area. Ended up with a Kawasaki Versys 650. I'd like to hear Mr. Fish's review of the Versys 650. Especially considering how much he loves the CB500X.
I own a Royal Enfield 350 single and have just bought the 500 Rebel, you don't know what vibration is until you ride a Enfield ;-) Cruisers are not for everyone just as Super Sports don't do a thing for me, what ever works for you is the main thing. I doesn't matter what you ride as long as you enjoy the ride.
Thanks, entertaining and informative vid. Nice area to ride too, around Ewhurst? I'm a Brit in the 'States and always try and work out where someone is riding... Best, Pete.
Would it kill you to show a bit of emotion and let us know how you really feel about a bike? :^D In the States, the smaller version seems to be used a fair amount at riding schools. The looks don't move me, I'd like to see a UJM version without that huge drop in the frame where the seat is. But then I have a 36"+ inseam - much more suited to the adventure bikes than cruisers.
I second this, Ronald. Seriously, all the other reviewers either trashed the bike or where just like "this is so much fun!!" and Fishy here is just... "itsabikealright."

@@Mrfish2015 Ahh right, wow 😂 I managed to do the trip to Yorkshire and back on a CBR125R so I should be alright, most of it I think is mental rather than the bike
Having the same dimensions as yourself (186 cm, inseam 35), it would interest me to know if touring hours a day is physically well feasable. 500 km+ a day are no exception. What do you think?
I think your legs might get a bit cramped, but looking at the bike Honda have designed it almost as if they will be offering forward set controls at some time, if they don't it would be straight forward for someone with a welder to make a set of adapters to move the controls forward
For someone who commutes to work about 120 miles per week, would it be friendly on the fuel? I've become so used to sticking £6's worth of fuel in my 125 😂
Purely cosmetic . Yes, they prevent flying stones hitting the forks and chipping the chrome. Although I've never had an issue with that. As for rust I find they cause it. Moisture gets in behind them and you can't see the damage its doing. I slide mine up and clean dry and protect the slider.
Great I should of got that over the NC750X 3 years back it’s so comfortable and got a bit more poke even if it’s the same engine and a good Exhaust sound
It's a 190 kg with 45 HP what are you trying to dodge, exocets? It's plenty of power for most situations unless you are into PBs through technical twisties, but then you wouldn't be on a cruiser bike. I think Honda are working on an 1100 version with the Africa twin motor ;-)
i would like some one to tell me what to have if i want to buy that at honda dealer... can i buy it withow a motocycle license? or any at all..... pls if u know fell free to comment
There are many options out there, if you want to stay street legal (in Europe at least) then I think the only option currently is the Arrow Rebel exhaust. At least that is the only one I have found. If you do not care about being street legal, or live outside Europe / California, there are tons of options.
It's the kind of bike where you spend ages finding a beautiful spot with a view, hop off for a break... and just end up staring at the bike.

How i wish honda add the rev guage in the future, thats might be awesome!
It does look sharp. Good bike for us pigmies. I would like to see a bigger tinted wind screen. Keep more bugs off the face.
Do you prefer the Honda cb300r or the Rebel 500? Which one is the most fun?

P.s. Thanks for the excellent review!
Hope they bring out a 1000 as reported .
That would be cool
i want one of these.
I'm looking at downsizing from my CBF600 to one of these, does it have enough power for brisk overtakes in nationals on weekend jaunts?
Hi I'm torn between the 250 Rally and the rebel I'm 6ft and 14st but I have a bad back what are your thoughts ?
nice bike,nice video !!!
Having the same dimensions as yourself (186 cm, inseam 35), it would interest me to know if touring hours a day is physically well feasable. 500 km+ a day are no exception. What do you think?
Might need a bit of tweaking but don’t see a problem
I think your legs might get a bit cramped, but looking at the bike Honda have designed it almost as if they will be offering forward set controls at some time, if they don't it would be straight forward for someone with a welder to make a set of adapters to move the controls forward
Sold..
I have to ride one but ..what I saw I would agree
For someone who commutes to work about 120 miles per week, would it be friendly on the fuel? I've become so used to sticking £6's worth of fuel in my 125 😂
The 500 range is quite good on fuel , but not 125 good lol
What is the difference between this one and the standard rebel 500
_Do fork gaiters serve any purpose other than aesthetic?_
_like suspension benifits or rust prevention?_
Purely cosmetic . Yes, they prevent flying stones hitting the forks and chipping the chrome. Although I've never had an issue with that. As for rust I find they cause it. Moisture gets in behind them and you can't see the damage its doing. I slide mine up and clean dry and protect the slider.
gorgeous track!
was forced to "like" and "subscribe" when the bonnie tyler hit came on...
Lol , thank you
Got one last year can't fault it
Nice bike and great review
Nice review 👍🏻
Cheers bud , how’s the xadv going ?
Great I should of got that over the NC750X 3 years back it’s so comfortable and got a bit more poke even if it’s the same engine and a good Exhaust sound
Where is this place mate?
How’s the passenger seat comfort?
I do like the look of it but I like a bike with punch not silly but enough to get out of the way 😉
I get you
It's a 190 kg with 45 HP what are you trying to dodge, exocets? It's plenty of power for most situations unless you are into PBs through technical twisties, but then you wouldn't be on a cruiser bike.
I think Honda are working on an 1100 version with the Africa twin motor ;-)
i thought the only changes were the dial?
i would like some one to tell me what to have if i want to buy that at honda dealer... can i buy it withow a motocycle license? or any at all..... pls if u know fell free to comment
Well done !goos job.
As a new rider, not sure i want a brand new bike like this given I am bound to drop it? thoughts anyone?
What's the range on the tank Mr fish 😉
Depends how you ride but the specs are in the description box
Make a nice bike to buy the Mrs. Just need to find a Mrs first...
Mark Mundy: Cannot comment on the motorbike but stay single if you want to remain sane and happy.
Definitely. I've got the 2020 model and I love it 🙂
@@johntheaccountant5594 to be fair, I've been down that path twice so I should know when I'm better off!
So you are a slow learner? i.e. you have been married twice and looking for a third?
@@johntheaccountant5594 No cure for stupid?
if you are 194 cm what do you recommend?
i want those headlights cowl? where i can get one.
It's a bog-standard Honda piece of accessory :D the SKU is 08R70-K87-A30
Nice
I'll have to disagree. I think the bike is Fugley. I will say it looks highly customisable.
.........but Mr Fish.........is it "flickable" ? :P
Maybe
also, if you wanted to change the exhaust, how do you know which one to get?
There are many options out there, if you want to stay street legal (in Europe at least) then I think the only option currently is the Arrow Rebel exhaust. At least that is the only one I have found. If you do not care about being street legal, or live outside Europe / California, there are tons of options.
It must suck living in California.
What a cesspit!
