It makes me happy that a bike that looks like this is a beginner one
Same bro
@Peter Rahill Def. you can usually never go wrong with a honda. I've been riding my naked 500 for 3 years now and have never had an issue, and its a whole load of fun.
I might recommend a different muffler, the standard ones are usually a bit tinny, don't get anything obnoxiously loud tho
@@Daniel-dj7fh what muffler would you recommend? I do want a loud one tho!
Honestly when I was looking for starter Bikes, I was hoping I could do one of those Harley Street 500s or 750s. But sadly they stopped making those. I’m still looking for a starter bike. So far this one looks like my best choice. Now it’s just a matter of money, getting a license, and seeing wether or not my mom will have a coronary over my sudden interest in driving a motorcycle.
@@eiji862 You could look at the honda rebel 300 or 500, they're more on the cruiser side, look super dope and hondas dont die
this bike is special. not many manufacturers make bike like this, a bike for everyone, easy to ride, comfortable and still has enough power for daily use, city or highway, and still affordable. Well done Honda.
Thinking about getting one sooner or later and I think this might be a good one for all three
@@kazglaz4986 how did it go?
LS650 Suzuki savage/Boulevard .
I still don’t understand about some rich kids who spend their parents’ money on drugs. There are lot of many interesting things to spend such as buying this bike.
Amen my friend. 👍
Agreed, guns videogames and motorcycles and such are far more entertaining. Screw wasting time getting high or drunk and destroying your body.
@@DiabloNemes Same literally haha
@@redswift31 yeah but if I die because i shoot myself, or go 100 mph on motorcycle into a car, or get shot because I 'pretended' to play gtav in real life...then I'll be wishing for drugs and alcohol lmao
For real. Your parents money is for bikes, I can buy drugs with my own money.
I never been in love with a bike before but holy shit man.. this is beautiful
And affordable
Looks brilliant in black. Unlike an HD it will be reliable, well made, feel modern and won't vibrate your knackers into submission.
You can always count on Honda to make a solid product.
I'm new to bikes, and I'm suprised that Honda is actually a reliable company for bikes. I'd thought something like Harley was more reliable
@@homiesenatep haha I've heard of several issues on Harleys like oil leaks and what not. What surprises me even more is that BMW bikes most often don't share the reliability of their cars so much for German perfection. Hondas like most Japanese manufacturers are very reliable even if they're not the most powerful they even make F1 engines so performance isn't a stranger to it
@@mohammadnashitsiddiqui2168 bmw has manufactured bikes for a long time, they’re of excellent quality. I too was surprised… way better than any of their cars.
@@homiesenatep It's obvious you're new to bikes... Honda and any of the other japanese brands are known for their reliability.. Miles ahead of American and some European bikes in reliability.
I have owned my 2017 model since new, and bought it with the notion of riding it purely just for country side riding, and I will say I have enjoyed it very much so that I ended up selling my CB600f. My only gripe was the seat comfort, which I solved by procuring the Mustang Solo seat, and I will say that it's a real improvement over the stock seat.
I heard they improved both the comfort of the seat and the suspension for the models after 2020
@@max_rove The new models are definitely an improvement;however, it’s marginal to be honest. I traded my rebel for a Softail Slim, but of course after trading in my Honda my wife wants a Rebel. So we tried out a 2021 left over and to be honest it wasn’t much different in the seating department. The suspension however is definitely an improvement over the 2017.
I ride a DRZ400S on daily basis, my buddy owns a 2021 Rebel. This bike is so smooth and balanced and super fun to ride. I can’t get over how much I enjoy riding this Honda Rebel. It think what makes it so addicting to ride is it’s light and maybe the smoothest bike I have ridden to this day. And he says it perfectly in his review, it’s way more fun than you would think it would be.
Yep, I very much felt the same. On paper it didn't excite me much but on the road it was a lot of fun. Cheers!
A big bike I can finally ride! I'm almost 5ft 2in tall and weigh 120lbs. Excellent review 👍
You don't find it too heavy?
I love the roads over the ranges he was on. Been going over them for 30years and know them well. Great fun and they've recently resurfaced them👌👍
I got this in May as they just arrived by boat in Copenhagen and I love this bike. So much fun to ride and a totally gorgeous bike :D
Just brought the exact model, dropped from an NC 750 to this CMX 500 s.
I agree with everything this guy says.
Reason for the change, at 5"4 and short legged, i struggled with the 750, almost scared on a slippery road.
This Bike solves the issue.
Only downfall is a small pillion seat with pegs that bring your knees up high.
Great honest review!
I did a test ride in the same bike model two days ago and completely agree with you. Under 60m/100kms /h is quite smooth and enjoyable, steers very easily and brakes in a dim. Over 60... well not so much. Rear suspension is non existent in bumps (I got a funny seat jump in my first bump at 40m/h) and left foot engine cover is a little to much intrusive.
Perfect bike if you want to start riding in a cruiser.
@Wagner PD Great for your 250cc bike. What I mean with my comment is that this bike is great for cruising around 60mph but over 70mph (and The Rebel can easily reach 90mph) ergonomics are not so friendly.
Finally! my dream motorcycle has finally reviewed❤
check MT07 with akrapovic decat that is bike and that sound porn :D i wana too buy honda rebel but for sound better brakes engine 700 because i dont wana change bike every year i buyed brand new and i dont regret it
The Harley iron 883 is better
The 883 is also 2k more

@@Sss12698 2k more is 2k more. 🖕🏾to you too.
My dad just picked up his brand new bike . He is gonna have so much fun in Jamaica😍
I own a 8 years old CB 500X and reliable can't eben start to describe it. Its simple, I mver had a single engine problem and while it is well maintained I am not the most meticulous rider of the bunch. It went touring for several hours at 150kph several times, I do push it on the mountains weekly and it never let me down.
So yep, these 500cc engines from Honda are great indeed and plenty enough for light touring and weekend trips but also very comfortable in the city or as an everyday bike.
As a side note I do live in SEA and even in the stupidly hot summer the engine stays pretty cool not burning your legs while riding which is a big issue for many bigger bikes I tried here over the years.
SEA like Seattle? or South East Asia? I live in Seattle and I’m thinking about buying this or the 1100
@@jonanddy No, SEA like South East Asia. The Honda will be cheaper to maintain than the Triumph. IN SEA (not Seattle again :D) the choice was easier as Triumph shopps are few and far between while Hoinda ones are everywhere.
It looks fantastic blacked out. I love all black bikes and cars and I’m glad to see manufacturers seeing the trend and offering it up. But I’d say after tastes change we’re gonna see a lot of black bikes that aren’t in fashion up for sale. But then again I guess no manufacturers have had a problem selling chrome parts to owners.
This is my dream bike, at some point in my life i'd probably like to own one of these.
Your dream will prolly ome true sinds its really affordable for what you get
Im 5’3 and here i was thinking im too short to ever ride any cool bikes but THIS might be the one omg this excites and motivates me so much!! Love the video too thank you man!!
Let me know if you get one ☝️
Christian Rodriguez might be a while but once i do im definitely going to start making my own videos about cars and bikes!
Don't let being a short rider discourage you - I really think there's motorcycles made for all types of people (I'm a short rider). With that being said - my dream short rider bike is probably the Triumph Bonneville Bobber haha. Ride safe.
Im 5'4 and I feel the same way. I feel so excited to save up and one day buy this beauty
@@Path_to_becoming_HIM there's one in eyeing in my area I'm thinking of picking up
Just bought one. Early July delivery. I'm getting excited already. Nice review
It's beautiful... I'm doing my cbt and saving up for this very bike
Good luck with your CBT. This is a good bike to start on. 👍
I ended up going with this bike and love it!! I got my Learners here in Australia about a year ago and jumped straight into dirt bikes. The bf made me go buy a road bike for confidence when going for my full licence and I haven't looked back. Great bike for my short self!
I’m not particularly a fan of choppers but this is actually a very nice looking bike. I also hear there is a 1,000cc version with DCT on the way.
1100
Can't wait for the Rebel 1100 review.
I've been riding a 500f for 3 years now and i really think it's right about at the optimal horsepower range to be quick enough and have fun without being too fast
You can adjust the rear shocks with 5 settings!
I"m getting one for the following reasons: low seat, foot pegs mid range where I can stand up if I wanna ride standing, Honda reliability, perfect overall size and weight, slipper clutch with light pull
You are definitely my favorite bike reviewer. Thank you for the video!
I think it would be interesting to do a Kawasaki Vulcan S review in the future just as a comparison.
See Mark Pullings YT review/test.
Just completed my basic riding course in Calgary Alberta Canada (Too Cool Motorcycle School)! Looking forward to getting my own bike :) the road ride I did today was absolutely amazing and I'm so excited to get out on the road again
Have fun!
Man you have done a great job, it was really a treat for my eyes.
Thanks Bhaskar, appreciate it and glad you enjoyed the video!
I have the 2019 model it looks like they change the styling of the blinkers and the front headlight.
Could you tell me where are you working at?
I've been looking at this as my first bike, the ABS version, thank you for the review.
You earned a like just for the "That's what she said" remark.
just released in our country malaysia yesterday. that's why i'm here :D

My bro got this Rebel 2020 3 months after I got my CB 650 R last X mas and we’ve been riding and meet ups more frequently
The Rebel is one of the easiest bike to ride, especially for shorter riders or beginners.
My bro improved A LOT from riding the Rebel for 4-5 months compared to riding his older CB / CBR 300
The new assist slipper clutch pull is a heaven when featuring it in traffic for long time.
The only thing I’d change right off stocks are the seats - makes a world of difference
I made up my mind. I'm going to buy this as my first bike. And its learners approved here in Australia. Nice.
did u end up getting it?
I am tossing up between this and the K Vulcan
@@gameswithklobo9363 apparently didn't. My budget is for ktm. lol! But Vulcan probably is better. And already thinking that would be my upgrade.
I can't wait to own my own cruiser bike like this one, only thing that doesn't appeal to me is that it's all black, I think I'll get some chrome detailing on mine I like a mix of classic and modern ☺️
Sat on the 300 version in a Chiang Rai dealer yesterday. Too low for me, feet too far forward. I can imagine it being really uncomfortable. This 500 looks better than the old model. With the seat building up a fair bit and the pegs further back, it would make a good bike. I wish they'd use this engine to make a CB500R. The Rebel 500 is about 5,000 GBP in Thailand.
Good review.
I think CB500R is next year. 👍
Pretty sold on getting a Honda when I pass my license, will have to decide between the Rebel and the CBR when the time comes
Get a CBR to start, they are cheaper and you won’t cry as much if you drop it
hello there, my personal opinion about honda rebel 500 2020 after 3 months with it:
-is very responsive, very smooth and feels like it will last forever.
-the stock seats(both of them) are very very useless. honestly after 40 minutes on it, every single time my butt hurts.my girlfriend same story on the rear seat. i ordered a Mustang seat from USA and cant wait to recieve it .
-very easy to drive,
-has a lot of power, dont get confused , is not a 125cc, not a 1200cc either , but has a lot of power to make you get out of any situations of the highway.
-is a lifetime motorcycle if you want it. is not so heavy , and if you are like me 1.70 cm tall, is a perfect bike.
-in my opinion is the best option on market to have fun, look incredible, feel confident, and to learn how to not die on motorcycle .
this bike invites me every day to go out and explore the world . and if you customize it in an unique mode, you will love it.take care
This exact bike is learners approved here in australia and for special edition led included is 8.99k aud :)
I'm 34 just started riding currently on a Lexmoto Michigan get some experience before doing my A license really nice bike only thing I don't like about cruiser's (and I prefer cruiser) is way they corner can't really throw into corner as can with sports bike but with this turning circle seems really good
I love this so much! Totally my next bike when I get into the 500s
Just picked up the 2021 500 ABS SE and I'm loving it! I think I'll hit some twisties today!

Getting my motorcycle license by the end of spring and def getting this bike as my first bike!
how’s it going
That side ignition was on a lot of old Hondas, certainly my 1979 175 had it.
10/19/20: I’m 17 and Im getting into motorcycles. So far the 500 looks like the bike for me and I am definitely planning on saving up some money for one. If I end up getting it I’ll be sure to stop by and leaving a note
Good for you Bryan. 👍
@@jollygreengiant9490 can’t argue with that advice. Hopefully he takes it on board.
And we'll wait
I'm thinking of booking my a2 and this is what I'm aiming for! I reckon perfect for my height and a good transition from the Van Van!
Good choice!
Thanks for mentioning mileage ,it helps alot , please review the Street Triple R and S 2020 😄🚴🌾🏍️
At the moment I'm not sure when I'll be able to get any more Triumph tests. They've gone a bit quiet! :(
Great Video, well sorted and easy to digest.
I love the camera's you mounted on the bike, the angles and footage are great and really add to the experience.
Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it. 👍
I’ve been looking at Indian scout bobber sixty’s for my first bike, but seeing this it’s changed my mind a bit. Very good looking bike and like half the price of the Indian. I do have the thought in the back of my mind of will I get bored of it too quickly though, whereas I don’t feel that way with the scout…
Great review thank you. Was looking to buy one as my first bike and after watching your review you've helped me decide. Cheers
Best review of the Rebel 500 I've seen. Well done. God bless.
Thank you!
I've had a fondness for the ol' honda rebel since my very first street bike was an '84 rebel 250. I rode it for several hours with it only firing on one of its cylinders (a spark plug wire wasn't fully seated). I expected it to be pretty slow, and it was while it was only performing as a one cylinder, lol. Once I seated that spark plug wire, wow what a difference. It was still no speed demon by any means, but it was a great beginner bike. I absolutely love the way this generation of rebels look. If mine looked like this, and was a 500, I might have kept it for a second bike.
I tell you what this is a cracking looking bike. As soon as Honda make a bigger one that us 6ft plus people can sit on without looking stupid, I'll have one.
That's the point of a cruiser
I wouldn’t care about looking stupid as long as it were comfortable. I’m 6’3.
I heard a 6'4" dude say he put a forward control kit on one of these bikes and it made it perfectly comfortable for him.
There are rumors of a rebel 1200 or 1100 in the works
A 1200 Rebel would be really fucking cool
Bought a used 19 plate from my local Fowlers today! All thanks to this review 👍
Love your reviews mate, so easy to watch😌👍👍👍 My friend is getting this one next week and I am driving it home for him. Can’t wait!😍

Great, honest review. I'm contemplating between the Rebel 500 and the BMW 310GS. I prefer the look and versatility of the BMW over this. But I'm concerned about the BMW's reliability. I don't know if the faulty alternator flaw has been fixed on the newer models. I'm a beginner rider. This would be my first purchase. Any suggestions or things to take into consideration? TIA
Gonna buy this for my first bike most likely. I’d like to instal a gear counter though
Me too, although I'd rather have a tachometer than a gear counter, but that's me.
My dream bike, the color and great too.
A nice review Dan. I just sold my MT-07 to intending to get an MT-09 but I found being all of 5'7'' I didn't feel confident sitting on it and tippy toeing. Not sure whether I'd be disappointed going to a 500 cc bike.....I might wait
I've watched the review on the Kawasaki Vulcan 650...nice but too expensive for this pensioner!
I wish to have it but is expensive. $ 6998 US . For me this motorcycle is a dream.
Just put a deposit on the S edition here in Australia! Now just waiting for it to arrive because of all these Covid delays... So excited, can't wait! The price difference was $9700 (5400 pounds) for standard edition or $10030 (5600 pounds) for S edition. I thought a couple of hundred extra was definitely worthwhile :)
Thanks for your review!
Nice! Hope you enjoy!
Fantastic review Dan. I'm also 5'8 and I would love this bike!
Important note - The spongyness you experienced in the front brake lever is caused due to a pocket of air in the brake system. Bleed your breaks and that lever should firm right up (this applies for any motorcycle, and car - spongy breaks = trapped pocket of air)
Lol, no it's a brand new press bike. Just needed bedding in.
@@Englishbikerdan It's a common error that's been reported on many rebel 500's where there's air in the brake system, so don't ''lol no'' me.
Also, i've been a mechanic for around 15 years now, If your breaks feel spongey - There's something wrong with em. And that is most likely an airpocket since the spongey feel comes from the airbubble being compressed, And liquids doesn't compress :)
@@dacel88my triumph has spongey brakes and I've had new disk ,pads, master cylinder, bled a few times
Still absolutely trash.
No idea what it is and neither do the mechanics.
Thanks for the review, imho only a few shots of you actually sitting on the bike are missing, it would give a better idea about dimensions
Thanks for the feedback, I actually meant to but was so preoccupied with remembering the things I wanted to say about the bike that I forgot some shots.
Man, awesome video.
I am considering getting this one as my first bike and your review was pretty decent/useful. Thx!
I'm in doubt if I get this one or the HD Iron 883. But I guess I'd need to try to see which is more comfortable for me.
edit: also, I'm also not a tall guy (1.70m), so I guess that for a first bike I need something that gives me some comfort + feel safe (put feet on the ground)
I am sold. I’m going to get one of these next summer. I’d do it now except It would just sit all winter. May as well wait at this point. Moving from a 250 rebel, but this seems perfect as an upgrade. Thanks for the video man. All black looks awesome too. Be safe out there.
from owning the 250 you think this 500 would be a good beginner bike?
@@igotauzi 500 is even manageable as a beginner bike depending on the person. i myself weigh 170 and am 5’11 and i went straight for a used 2018 rebel 500. it’s not necessarily hard to learn how to handle the bike as long as you have an understanding of throttle control. if you drive reckless and chase speed, don’t jump up because you’ll just put yourself in a bad situation. take your time, understand throttle, and don’t get gear happy is my best advice to anyone not able to or willing to start at low cc
Working on saving up for one rn, gonna be my first bike
I own a 2019. You get used to the wide footing and the engine block poking out really quickly. I feel super akward on Skinnier bikes now
Yeah I thought I'd probably get used to it had I owned one. But it's something I noticed when riding so thought it should be mentioned.
When I see bikes like this I wish I wasn’t 6’3.
Wait I’m 6’1 and was planing to get this, nooooo why
Isnt the 500f bigger tho?
Ikr mate im also 6'3 what cruiser would you suggest instead?
@Vibhu Bharadwaj Not exactly but sort of, i guess... 3 years exp, over about 12000 mileage, rode up to 700 cc but MT25 owner. I finally realized neither supersport nor naked is my cup of tea (also not my fit lol), enduro is too ill-shaped to my taste so considering cruisers.
Loved the idea of the rebel, waited for the 2020 model with the upgrades. Buddy has the 2019 model. He has issues with the twisties as the bike has trouble leaning without scraping. To be expected with this style of of bike. Killed my enthusiasm for it. Cb500x is fantastic though
Have to admit that was something I felt when riding. I didn't scrape but I didn't lean as much due to that concern. Same with all cruisers though.
Very detailed review and ride. Might go buy one soon.
I love this bike and I would bet that this bike is a great bike for allround the town and small touring
As owner of '71 cb500 and '78 cb550, they are a fun around town bike. "Flickable" and nimble; light and easy to handle. Only snobs will poo poo them.
Damn right!
Great video, i hope to have one of these myself soon one day!

please review suzuki sv650 2019 or later, compared to honda cb650r :)
In short, CB 650 R is winner of 2019 650 cc class, it’s just that good (i have test ridden all other 650’s, i know)
@@magmafist thank you, I only wonder if suspension and transmission is good enough on sv650
The CB650R has a more premium look and feel over the others, for what we pay in the UK it's a bargain. In other coutries, not so much. All the 650cc class are pretty good, pros and cons to each. My favourite that isn't the CB would be the Z650 just because it surprised me at how good it is on the road. I'd have to ride the SV650 again to really remember what it's like.
@@davidk2967 stock suspension? CB 650 R is the best (but not enough for pure track day) I tested on both track and road, still a little bouncy on track, but stiff on road
any other 650 (MT 07, Z 650, SV 650) are OK for road, but quite bouncy in track (even on stiffest preload setting)
I actually wanted MT 07, but considering more $ on OHLIN front fork spring + suspension upgrades ... that's another like US $ 9xx
MT 07's CP 2 engine is the MOST fun
yeah, I like it it looks great. However like every other *motorcycle* it is almost completely useless (no space for bags or helmets, no 12v for GPS, no USB, etc.). So I would still go with the *scooter*, I'm saving for the Tricity 300. Sure it does not sound as nice, it is not as cool, doesn't turn heads, but you can't beat practicality. However, if I have space for 2 motorcycles then this would definitely be in a garage! Beautiful bike!
Very well presented. My next bike after owning a cb125f
dude i wish i was into cruisers, i woulda loved this bike
The main thing I got from this video is the rear is quite stiff. “That’s what she said.”
