Yes, if only I could put life on hold for a few days I could make some plans. Anyhow here's a brief description: The inside of the frame measures 20" x 20" with the screws spaced 1" apart for 18 total per side. There's two sets of 18 screws on one side of the frame opposite each other (top & bottom), and another two sets on the other side, opposite each other (left & right). Get some Kanthal A1 Resistance Wire AWG 28 Gauge (5.27 ohm/ft), 100 ft. Start on one corner - twist the wire several times around the first screw, go to the other side, twist around that screw several times, go to adjacent screw, twist several times, go back to the other side, twist several times, go to the adjacent screw, twist several times, and keep doing this for the first nine screws on each side. Terminate the first length of wire on the last nineth screw (18 in total counting both sides). We'll call this the first quadrant. Repeat for the next set of 18 screws on the same side (second quadrant). Make two more quadrants on the other side. Now you have four lengths of wire making up four quadrants of 18 screws each). Join the beginning of each quadrant into one connection (four wires into one) and the end of each quadrant into another connection (four into one). Basically, the quadrants are hooked in parallel, not series. Now apply 120 VAC to the two connections and there you go. The reason there's four quadrants is if it was just one single strand of wire from end to end on both sides it wouldn't get hot enough (because of the resistance of the wire). I haven't tried yet, but if the wire was 1/4 the resistance rating it would probably work with one single strand. In fact there is a 22 gauge wire at 1.31 ohms/ft that would probably work for that. Be careful and have fun.

You need springs on the end of the wires sir. You must pull out the slack.

    • @ebayarbitrage

That's a great point but that would be dozens of springs. The weight of the styro being melted straightens them out, so long as the top layer of wires doesn't contact the bottom layer.
