My main gripe with this ship isn't even its power, it's how braindead it is to play and what kind of gameplay it fosters. I consider the RN BB line to be poison, something that should have never been added in its current state.
I like how you showed off this fire RNG of Conqueror on youtube when the game before on twitch, your Conqueror had the fire chance of a "stock" Gearing. :D Anyway, your opinion was the reason why I didn't grind past KGV and grind other lines instead, and I have all the other 3 BBs at T10, which I all enjoy(and learning).
thats what i expected when i saw the 4*2 457mm at first but wg said fk you we do the shit we want got my conqueror a week avec the brittish release and sold the ship a week later because its so boring
It's not that WG said "F*ck you we do the shit we want". It's just that some players went full cry baby because "Muh only 8 guns ! It's shit !" And so WG just gave these mongs triple turrets. But seriously, it's so sad that in then end, this is not a line of Warspite... It would have been absolutely amazing.
Even warspite is not as good as she was before because accuracy nerf en shitty citadeloverpen mechanic so that the potato can sail broadside And they want to do urss bb next year i can already feel the bullshit coming
Since the launch of the Royal navy BB line, people just spam HE with every damn BB. Regardless of the ship they play. It really turns me away from playing PVP and just stick to Operations
Oh sweet! Im so gonna camp behind this island and give this Yamato he- *Wild Conqueror appears at 10km* "...." *Wild Conqueror fires HE salvo, does over 12,000 damage! 4 Fires started! IT WAS VERY EFFECTIVE!* "This is fine... this is fine... THIS IS FUCKING FINE!"
Play Hindy Hide behind island in beginning of game Spotted for three seconds Conqueror rains HE on me from 20km setting 3 fires Repair Spotted for one more second His next volley hits me over the island, setting 4 fires *REEEEEEEEEE*
Agree with everything said here about it. Of its qualities, low concealment, almost impossible to reach citadel and ridiculous HE... any one of those things on its own could stand out- but instead with Conq ALL of them are best in class. Then you have a 24-25km range without a spotter plane... comparable speed... Montana level AA... I mean- give me a break. I suppose if it's so fricken stupid I might as well not complain about it and should just play it more but just not interested in it.
Couldn't agree more especially about the concealment. Like wtf. It seems like some BBs are hand fed everything while the cruisers have to go out and work for ever little advantage that they can get. So many bad BB players that don't have to bother learning to work as a team and this ship certainly does not help. Good video.
It’s ridiculous. Also, any time I see this game even start about historical accuracy for justification to anything I chuckle a little. This game isn’t all that accurate in the first place, so then saying that literally does nothing.
Thats why i moved to DDs russian gunboats is the way to go. Fight fire with fire. My first targets is this ship, because of how game breaking the ship is, so i take it out first
Actually it looks like we have some Monika in WoWS, who mess with the game, producing megazaos, hiding citadels etc. One day I find Flolo "hanging" around.
A RN line that mirrored the Warspite would have been nice Flamu but we both know that that Russian BB's are going to end up being the most accurate. I just wish they would listen to the community about this ship.
I think Flamu makes some really solid points in the video, particularly about the game play. Now, I don't have an issue with there being low skill-floor ships. There are a TON of horrible players out there and frankly the game needs those players. We simply do not have the numbers to drive the bad players away. The problem I see with the Conqueror is the ceiling. If it's got such a low skill floor, it should have a low ceiling too. With the ability to set fires at the rate it does, it can have an out-size impact on the game, particularly against aggressive players such as Flamu points out. If the fire chance was significantly reduced, and the players had to rely on HE alpha alone for the majority of their damage, I think the Conqueror would be a decent addition to the game. Bad players can play it and be less of a liability, without having out-size influence.
I saw an enemy Montana shoot HE the entire game. Not a single AP volley. I called him out on it and he said “let me play my ship (I was in the Montana as well). I almost broke my keyboard over my head because of this potato.
That’s the thing! I’ve seen people that aren’t sailing RN battleships, especially around low to mid tiers, firing HE at literally anything. I don’t know if they just suck at the game or not, but I knew better before RN BBs so I think they’re just encouraging bad gameplay all around.
Well eventhough it might be frustrating. It is their choice of gameplay. WoW either has to get rid of it, which makes versing battleships angled impossible, or they would have to make it less powerful, but then no one would use it because it is that bad. You can't get rid of it and you can't nerf HE too much because it becomes unusable. And sadly enough frustration is not a real argument. HE frustrates me and it has been the bane of my excistence in some games, but not always. I am fully aware that if it wasn't there or not as powerful as it is, countering some of the ships I use is damn near impossible. So as much I dislike it in some games. It is not OP it is a small nuisance that doesn't really effect every game I play, only some. And I think with maybe some minor tweaks it can and should stay and as long as it stays around people are bound to use it so get used to it.
KingofAwesome The point is how useless the guy was and how the community suffers because of retards that use HE in ships that shouldn’t be using HE. Seriously what is the point of a Montana using HE? I’m pretty sure he had like 30k damage and was last on the leaderboard.
I do not have this ship, do not know if it has been further nerfed since this video. I usually play DDs. Regarding "brain dead" players I have a memory disability caused by head wounds suffered in real combat that ruined my military carrier. It is to difficult for me to remember the stats for the ships I play most, let alone ships I play against. I mention this to let you know there are a few of us with an impairment that heavily impacts game play.
While I agree for the most part, especially the citadell, I think that it's necessary to add another playstyle to battleships and HE coud be ballenced to work harmonic with the meta.
I think this should say *IN THE RIGHT HANDS* Its overpowered. I've killed a number of Conquerors without issues. The trick is to focus it when their heal is on cooldown
N I think that Flamu put his finger on the real problem here. It's less a question of whether the Conqueror is OP than it is that they're super unfun to play against, due to the HE spamming, super-heal, super-conceal playstyle.
Yes, if they fuck up horribly you can kill them, otherwise not a chance until the game is practically over. You could give Yamato 1 million health and since some would eventually die it would only be overpowered *IN THE RIGHT HANDS*
dude, your trick "focus it when their heal is on cooldown" can kill every ship in this game, I wonder if you can name one ship that can survive after you" focus it when their heal is on cooldown".
Hurts even more when I see a Yamato spamming HE. *REMEMBERS AEROON STREAM OF YAMATO HE SPAM ALL IN GAME ONLY GETS 150K DMG* ah fuck I hated aerroon for that that was the greatest cancer ever given to me from this game...
I was in my Colorado once when I got caught with my pants down about 12km away from an NC. He was broadside on, so I was planning on trading... until he fired HE. Then I laughed and promptly lopped 17k off of him.
Sadly many people do it now. I see battleships of all types shooting HE and it is so sad. There are so many times I should have been dead and the opposing BB shot HE, see the same on my teams too, even against full broadside targets. HE should have a role but it shouldn’t be the go to for a BB at any tier.
The only positive thing I can say about the Conqueror is that's also a potential damage farm in certain circumstances. I was in a match against one in my Yamato, I had already gotten about 110k damage and a couple of kills when he engaged me so I did the best I could do, I ran away. But by doing so I got him to pursue me to the far corner of the of the map out of position. I focused on his guns and superstructure, destroying one of his front guns forcing him to turn to bring his rear turrets into play which allowed me to get a couple of solid broadside shots into him. Eventually he was able to burn me down but not before I was able to get a 140k damage off of him as well High Caliber and Confederate use up most of his Repairs and take him so far out of position he was unable to support what was left of his team before the match ended. Though the most shocking thing was that this Conqueror was using the 457mm GUNS! The first and only time I've seen someone using them.
ejd53 nc isnt a sniper isnt a brawler ..mid range powerhouse unlike a battle brawler like german ships ..that is fun .. But this ship..just one shell is enough to light you up or kill most of your aa or secondary .. Its indestructible literaly ..so messed up !!
I would love to see a commentary on the proper use of HE and AP as a BB, particularly in the mid-tiers when you are faced with a range of possibilities. HE use as a BB does seem to have some applications when facing ships two tiers higher than your own. In my experience, counseling BB captains to only use AP can be brain dead as well. As Flamu alludes in this video, understanding the ammunition type and use is key. I know I, as a less skilled player, would love to hear his advice on it.
The Conqueror shouldn't have even been added into the game. The 1944 Lion would had been much more realistic and a much better option for the game. Put the Nelson at tier 7, stick the KGV at tier 8, remove the nonexistent ship that is the Monarch from the game entirely and stick a Vanguard at tier 9. Makes perfect sense this way, because, now you offer realistic ships that provide good but not overpowered gameplay. I don't know what the HELL Wargaming was thinking when they were coming up with the fake ass line that is British battleships. (Seriously, what the FUCK is the Monarch?)
They should give conqueror 457 mm gun the penetration of a yamato or even more with the accuracy of a Warspite and completely remove the 419 mm gun with the crazy chance of fire
2 days ago before i unlocked the Moskva and i was in battle with the Dm.Donskoi , i hate the conqueror soo much that i jsut forgot about the rest of the game and focused the one infront of me ,i spamed HE spamed AP started probadly 10 fires on him ,with each AP salvo i dealt atleast 6k (the fight with him lasted 5mins ) i landed 120shells .At the end of the game i got torped by a z-52 cuz i wasnt paying enough attention and so i flod to death ,but the most anoying this was that the conqueror survived the game with 34k HEALTH !!! Btw now that im done farming the soviets im woundering wich cruiser line should i start next americans or germans (i have minotaur).Give me your advices people cuz im having troubles deciding for meself.
MIsho jelev I have the most fun playing my Mino and DM. The lesser armor is exciting and the brawling power is awesome. I also have a strong distaste for CVs, (mostly because they're so damn powerful in skilled hands and I'm absolute shit with them) so the AA makes me smile. I got my cruisers in this order: Mino, DM, Zao, Hindi, Moskva, Henri. In order of fun I'd say: Mino, DM, Hindi, Henri, Moskva, Zao
The mino is the cruiser that has most action in its gameplay flamu said that in his coment about her , i kind of dissagree with you that Dm has brawling capacity since its a long range CL and she only has 5torps per side. But i was asking for advice over wich Cruiser line i should farm next.
Another thing about BB HE shells. If 2 of them land on the midships deck of a DD, the module damage will PERMANENTLY destroy the torpedo tubes. If 2 shells land on the area with lots of guns on a Japanese CA, it will PERMANENTLY break whatever guns it hits too. Fun gameplay mechanic, crippling the main weapons of the enemy and causing them to rage quit.
roflllllll but i see more and more conqueror´s dying much faster now. but still the HE is TO absurd OP! use IFHE skill & and +2% higher firechance skill and you can kill absolutly everything! ps: "build a new ship" comment makes me hard lough :D
When there is a naval crew shortage and you hire construction workers and arsonists, you got yourself an HMS Conqueror. A super heal and a flamethrower.
Nerf the range to about 20km'ish and nerf concealment to around 15km. Still gives you good concealment for BB, but not better than cruisers. This would force the players to be more aggressive and utilise the concealment better. The problem with the Conq' is that if you spam HE, whilst you can rack up decent damage numbers, it's carry potential is very low.
I once citadeled a Conqueror at 10km with Großer Kürfurst, I was surprised, to say the least. But with a Conquerer that close, sailing broadside for as long as they did, I was dealing 20k+ damage-per-salvo, so it only saved me one.
Dedicated incendiary shells is fine, but is a bit stupid with high alpha too. A dedicated module wrecking HE shell could be fine too; Be the CV's best friend by dropping the AA from a Montana and letting planes do the HP damage. My fix to the guns would be to give the AP low alpha but with a moderate fire chance, while the HE gets massively reduced alpha but even higher fire chance. My fix to the rest of the ship would be to shift more of the HP into the sections, and reduce the damage percentage of pens that is repairable. Additionally embrace the potato layout, by making it handle like a potato. Reduce it's speed to 25 knots, while increasing the turning radius and rudder shift. Even with good concealment the enemy should always have a good idea where it is, while the rudder mod might also be considered over concealment. Reduced turret traverse would reward opponents who are aware of when they are being targeted. The idea is to have a hard point in the fleet that is incredibly difficult for battleships to deal with, but is very slow to react and vulnerable to everything else. A cruiser at close range does not have to worry about secondaries, and could out traverse the turrets, while it's raw damage output is low enough that getting to those ranges is possible if you come from a surprising angle. While I think this could be interesting in the hands of a good player, unfortunately I don't think this would help the game either. You would end up with conquerors sitting at the back setting fires to BBs even more, while the enemy BBs do something useful like killing the cruisers and taking points. I could see it ending up with very high damage numbers, but a very low win rate.
how I see a possible nerf to this: 1) raise the citadel to the waterline like montana for example. The ship has a relatively low profile and either you over pen it's tiny superstructure, shatter or miss completely. I never had any shot higher than 15 k on that ship, even with the super yamato shells and 2,1 sigma, conqs give constant broadsides and you get like 10k at best most of the times on them.. Kurfurst you can get nice 20k volleys on them even if you can't citadel. Funny though I got more cit hits on the germans at long range via plunging fire vs only one cit (yeah only happened once vs the conq). That coupled with the low ship profile and super heal is just absurd!! 2)reduce the speed at which the heal is happening. ok it may have a super heal and be like the RN own flavor but it's just ridiculous to heal that much in such a short time! Give it 35-40 seconds duration coupled with lower hp healed per second. Very very frustrating to get a good salvo and get a conq at 5 k health and 30 secs after till you reload it has 40k again wtf?? 3) it may keep the super HE fire chance although I'd bring that down to 45% for the 420's 4)give it at least 12,5k concealment wtf?? Bottom line: It would be a tier X bb with lower HP but better heal, theoretically having the best hp pool after the heals consumed Would have insane HE potential but would be easier to punish if showing broadside AP would be devastating against cruisers with the fast fuse arm Would still have the better concealment than any tier X BB AA is strong aswell.. Even with all these changes it would be a very competitive ship For example I find the Nelson a very well balanced ship. It has all 3 turrets upfront, no 3 turret isn't stupid like the izumo's and can turn left to right properly, has the typical RN fire chance and the amazing heal BUT it also has that huge citadel above the water that you can punish if given the chance... That's about it
Truthfully, this is the Tier X BB that I don’t want. Montana, Yamato, Kurfurst, even France; yes. This...no. BB HE just doesn’t feel as satisfying or fun as AP. With 458mm guns and Warspite-style AP, plus a more vulnerable citadel, Conqueror could be great. As it is, I just don’t want her or Lion. Even if you get a brilliant game in these ships, it still feels unsatisfying since they’re so OP and not fun. The super HE arguably makes sense for KGV given its small guns, but otherwise...urgh. I don’t like it. Hell, I find myself using AP in my QE more than HE.
I feel pretty much the same, every BB tree, while being more or less interesting to me, has something worthwhile to bring to the table. The HE emphasis on the RN BBs however just takes almost all the fun out of playing a BB in the first place. I got Orion and played a couple games with the HE and it was fun in its ridiculousness the first few battles but quickly got very stale and brain-numbing, I really couldn't fathom putting up with the same kind of stupidity in T10..
There not OP though ... it's all a balancing factor even WG have said that we will not change this, having this strength is key - how to counter a Conq play at its own game, mange HP, there's way to beat it. If u have got to T10 and consider this ship OP well lol
@@lukepresenter5873 Montana vs Conqueror. Conqueror wins. Conqueror vs Kurfurst. Conqueror wins. Conqueror vs Yamato. Conqueror wins. Conqueror vs any DD. Conqueror wins. Conqueror vs Midway/Hakuryu. MAYBE the CV wins. It's bad game design when a ship can't be beaten by any other ship except a carrier. Mind you, Conqueror has very good AA, so it's still not that easy. Every other BB has a weakness. Even Kurfurst. I don't get how they made Republique such a good, well balanced ship, yet Conqueror is still like this.
I fought a Conqueror yesterday with my Missouri. Can't rush her, she was as fast as me. Spam HE, Spam HE, Spam HE. FIRE FIRE FIRE FIRE FIRE. -> Fun and engaging mechanics. She goes broadside? Impossible to citadel.
we can buff the chances a BB gets fire, and not talking about flags, but giving BB their own protection parameters of counter fire without flags or consumables. E.g. Conqueror has 48% for fires(if i didn't hear wrongly) but let us say the Yamato by her self has -15% less chance to get fire, meaning that tot he 48% is subtracted 15%. we do that and with the consumables and flags, we can somehow manage the fire cancer. and lower its deck armor, easy cit hits
What? No Flamu, Deep Water Torp isn't a stupid decision, it's actually one of the most briliant idea I have ever seen, because without them nobody will even bother to touch the Pan Asian DD line. ;)
I guess it's hard for WOS developers to create a reasonable ship if the ship never got built in the first place. The big advantage to putting a historical ship in the game is that you know exactly what the ship was like, where as "paper designs" were more wishful thinking and less practical. Now, when do we get the USS Brooklyn?
Me, about a week ago, derping around in Kii. 8x457mm shells incoming on my port side at ~40 degrees. ... Mid-range AA goes down to 80, I lose half my secondary battery, 3 fires. I run Axillary mod.1 and Fire Prevention. Is Balans.
Completely agree on the conqueror!! Not so much about the DW torps, but luckily there are many different opinions :) Always nice to watch your vids Flamu
High damage without taking any risks while sniping back there as a battleship, just like Khabarovsk when it was unleashed in test server with stealth fire at 16km away as a destroyer
I agree with everything about the Conquereor. It just sucks to encounter it in any other BB, to the point that you almost feel there is no purpose even trying to win against it in a one on one situation. I kind of like deepwater torpedoes though, but I wish Vigilance gave a much highter detection range buff against them.
This video was actually hilarious to watch. Had to pause every few seconds, “print a new ship” god dammit flamu. But yeah, you pretty much hit it on the nose with this vid, I’ve seen other potato BBs firing HE at broadsides. Actually a little happy about this new meta, makes my Colorado grind a lot nicer. BB HE does less to me than BB AP.
same w my cruisers. whenever I engage a BB i always start in a kiting position to dodge their shots. BUT the moment I see baBBy fire a full HE salvo "OK I CAN GO BROADSIDE ON THIS BB FOR LOLS XD"
I have to agree. While I don't think the Conqueror is the I Win button some people think it is, it is indeed annoying that this ship does not have any real significant weaknesses aside from skillful DDs since it has a very weak torpedo belt and no plane or hydro to spot torpedoes. But that zombie heal without a vulnerable citadel to counter it is sad. Nelson has these strong HE guns and a zombie heal ... but it also has a VERY easy to hit citadel. Whereas Lion and Conqueror has a virtually impossible to hit citadel. Now I'm not advocating for huge above the water citadels like Yamato at tier 10 as those are no fun and take absolutely zero skill to delete (sorry, man ... huge above the water citadels does not make one a skillful player. A small blind child can one shot those if they show ANY broadside). In my opinion, non-turtleback ships should have waterline citadels like on the Montana. You can take strong citadel damage without losing two thirds of your life and be completely unable to heal it back. As you said ... huge range and by far the best concealment. Low HP seems bad, but it also means it takes less fire damage as fire damage is % based. And it's concealment allows it to disengage at will. And it's also BETTER against cruisers than other battleships because it's shallow pen AP won't overpen cruisers and can more reliably blap them. This ship is just annoying and, as you say, really not fun to play against.
When I see a conqueror sitting in the back I usually flank it to where his guns are not aimed at me while concealed and open fire when Im close shooting above the waterline, gives me 15-20k dmg each salvo in the missouri or montana but getting into that position is easier said than done
I dig the fun-argument. Whenever a Conq is in the enemy-team, your BBs stay waaaaaay back and camp, while cruisers can not really do anything. And the worst thing is, that its spreading: More and more BBs - speacially on higher tiers - drive their camp-lines and leave the cruisers and destroyers to, well handle the rest and then, when the game goes south, they have the nerv - Oooooooh, the impertinent stupidity - to call the rest of the team newbs or worse. It makes the whole game un-fun to play and i am so often close to blowing a blood vessel, that it is getting to a point of being potentially unhealthy (at least for me).
I am having a discussion with my brother over the special WoWS commanders. Can you do a video showing what you use for commander skills for each of the special commanders such as Dunkirk, Yamamoto, John Doe (Seagull), Honoré; and which ships they should be played on? A top three ships for each commander like your rank battle choice selection listing of past. I think this would be an interesting video. In addition thank you for your past videos. They have been insightful.
I am new to WoWs, I've had the game for 1 month.I am having fun playing it but there are three things I find 'wrong' with it that could do with some improvement......i) Ships having UNLIMITED torpedoes. Once I got to tier IV + there are matches where the game should have been re-named World Of Torpedoes. It get's really really silly with the amount of torpedoes used during matches.Having an actual supply of torpedoes would force players, particularly the destroyer players to operate tactically and not 'gamey' as they currently do.I have been in tier V and VI matches where I have seen 2 or more battleships plus cruisers ALL running away from ONE destroyer. Yes the cruisers should be able to deal with 1 DD but DD's can continuously spam torps and unless they are seen and killed, NOTHING can be done about it.And it gets ridiculous at times. ii) The near complete lack of teamwork during the random battles. Every now and then you will get a good team by luck, but it doesn't happen often.Wargaming could do a lot to encourage and promote team play which would make the battles a whole lot better. iii) Communications or lack thereof. On the 'EU' server players understand multiple languages and this massively effects the lack of teamwork I outlined above. No one understands anyone else and the 'F' hotkeys you can use to indicate things are nowhere near good enough for effective comms. In Europe if people speak a second language it's nearly always English.Having English speaking servers would improve communications massively, teamwork would actually...well, work ....and the battles WILL be MUCH MORE enjoyable. ;-) The best games I have had are when comms are good and people actually work together. eg; Cruisers actually escorting the battleships and supporting the destroyers etc. Recently I have been having more fun with WoWs but that's because I now play with one or two people that actually play as a TEAM and they know what they are doing. The near complete lack of teamwork nearly turned me off the game until this happened. A last thing that I think would be a good idea would be battles where factions are organized as they were historically such as Axis vs Allies (German, Japanese and Italian ships vs British, Commonwealth and US ships etc)You could have up to tier IV ships for 'WWI' kind of battles and say tier V + ships for 'WWII' battles as one example. And give these battles an 'ammo supply', especially of torpedoes. Overall WoWs can be an enjoyable game. It's easy to get into and the basic mechanics are simple which is great.A LOT more can be done to promote teamwork however and I do hope this is addressed as it will add longevity to the game for me and for new players I am sure. ' si vis pacem para bellum' ;-)
I play mainly British ships. I get burned by everything... it sucks. I'm close to getting the Conqueror and I see it as pay back for all the games where I got focused by ever DD and cruiser shooting HE from beyond my gun range (16.3 in Warspite). But when I get the conqueror I'll play it the same way I play all my battle ships, AP at long range, AP on broadside targets and HE on everything else. Thats just me though and I do agree having potatos spamming HE in all ships in all games ruins the game.
As I listen to this familiar rant .. erm .. critique .. it occurs to me that, with a twist in perspective, it is a perfect advertisement .. "Buy Today's New, Improved Conqueror, Designed For Today's Contemporary Player, Who Will Enjoy Time Saved From Learning Obscure Technical Details To, Instead, Jump Directly Into Battle!" LOL I can almost see WG chortling with glee .. ty for posting! : )
I totally agree with you on this but i don't see any of you guys comment about the silly DD gameplay in this game, we have unnatural and against all physics Destroyers that spam 8--9-12-16 torpedos from 10 klms away every 1, 1.5 mins undetected and even when detected they can easily eat a full broad side shot from 9 16" guns and live to tell the story!
Unfun to play against is an understatement, can’t count how many times I have had a Conqueror burn me to death. Had one game where I was against a triple CQ division all the BBs on my team were dead in 5 mins so was any CA that got too close, so OP.
Okay I’ll admit that this ship is unfun to fight against, but I don’t care this is me getting revenge on the players with the stuff I had to endure getting to it, everyone will suffer and I’m enjoying every single moment of it. I don’t care how brain dead I am being and I don’t care how annoyed your getting at me for HE spamming you into a pile of scrap metal, your gonna be conquered wether you like it or not.
the game is just getting more and more casual, the new carrier update is like these battleships no need for real management, just infinite planes and just play a stupid app game to drop stuff takes out any tactical use the carrier had to just tunnel vision The game is just appealing to the lowest common denominator
The amount of times I have made a mistake and end up facing 2 BB who are in two different arcs, I think I am dead only to find them both firing HE and after sinking them sailing away and thanking them in chat for firing HE. When they do it to my Nelson I must admit I laugh :)
Because everything else had a citadel and Yamato nuked any ship in sight like it was built for... Then citadel proof germans came, then usn citadel lowering and now this...
Don't forget the absolutely massive weakpoint in the Yamato and Musashi's bow now. Which makes literally no sense. I know this is basically a fantasy game, but even if the citadel COULD be easily penned from the front (it couldn't) the citadel would be sectioned off and battened down to prevent a chain reaction. Note that I say this as someone that is nowhere close, nor will I ever be close, to owning the Yamato or Musashi, and yet I can see these flaws. I feel bad for all the people that wasted hours of their lives grinding for a Yamato class only for it to be nerfed to the sea floor.
Mechanics wise... The frontal and rear angled citadels are inclined 45 wish degrees... As long as you shoot the bow of a Yamato class 45 degrees, essentially below 60 degrees, autobounce won't occur and you can penetrate the bow - after which the shell would penetrate the angled citadel near broadside... Bow tanking never existed in real life... If we treat WOWs like WOT - Yamato would be treated like an IS-6 - by which you go full bow on - to maximise that angled citadel. But this is WOWs where we bow tank all day... so that so called angled citadel serves more of a weak point that a strength... Honestly the only strength I can think of this angled citadel - is if you are full broadside to an enemy - and they fire - and you break hard - so that the shells only hit the angled citadel and bounce...
I think everyone seems to miss the point with the Conqueror.... if you have a conq on both teams you are effectively equal at the start of the match so to say that its in some way breaking the game isn't 100% correct, because if there is a conq on each team then it is equal but saying that we know MM doesn't always give a conq on each side. I don't really have a problem with a certain ship being more effective at something as long as it is equaled on both teams at the start of the match (aka better MM). I think different game styles is good for the game... even if it's not exactly a pretty way to play. And the reason they didn't go the route of the Warspite is because they will be saving that accurate game style for the made up fantasy Russian BBs.
I got my Conquerer awhile ago, figuring "oh it CANT be as OP as all these people saying it is say" halfway into my first game, I realized how wrong i was, as i lit a Yamato up in 3 places, while doing 12k dmg in a single salvo... "balance"
Yep, Agree with you Flamu I think WG should at Least raise the citadel so the gameplay should be changed. And make thier concealment worse than cruiser. Its not normal, conqueror has better armor than Cruiser (especially HIV) but more stealthier than Cruiser
i have the conqueror and i play it from time to time. feels dirty, but also is a lot of fun to just wipe the battlefield from time to time ..... how often i sit there with a grin on my face- and yes it is a broken ship- but it is soooo much fun for 1,perhaps 2 games , before i have to shower ......
The British B.B. bring me to stop play Wow after 2 years ... I don’t found more fun in this game !!before it was a super game but after the British B.B. it’s only a HE fire spam with noon player who buy a tier 10
(FUCK THE CONQUEROR!) The thing damn near outspots my Prinz Eugen and I have a full stealth build on her, its absurd! Though imo, NC has better concealment than Prinz as well.... REEE THE CREEPS!
Simple, make a limit on the number of fires, total, that a ship takes. What is left to burn on deck after 4 fires? Fires treat every ship like a carrier with fully loaded decks.
I actually made it to Conqueror. I hated it. It was stupid and dirty, so I sold it and switched to using Montana instead. Getting massive damage salvos with Monty AP is far more satisfying than turning off your brain and clicking with Conqueror. I tried to justify it for a while by claiming that if no one played CQ then they'd never change it because "muh lack data", but I couldn't do it. Too damn dirty.
I had a Tirpitz trying to HE me. I think that set-fire rate is a mere 20%. As for the Royal Navy battleships, they need to nerf the fire chance, nerf it.
Watching this two years after release... they didn't change it Despite me grinding it, i'm not sure if i gona keep it Considering Warspite - i would like to try a BB with good accuracy but bad grouping and decent shells, good concealment but bad armor with enhanced heal, and decent maneuverability with bad turret traverse Sounds familiar?
I'd say nerf concealment and range and it might be in a better spot... not sure if it will ever be balanced, but that way it isn't that camping in the back kind of ship that still is effective as hell
My main gripe with this ship isn't even its power, it's how braindead it is to play and what kind of gameplay it fosters. I consider the RN BB line to be poison, something that should have never been added in its current state.
Flamu the conquer should at least have the cit of the Nelson.
"print a new ship" made me chuckle.....still hate playing against Conq
It's the Romulan Cloaking device type play, flame-throwing, and almost no citadel.
I like how you showed off this fire RNG of Conqueror on youtube when the game before on twitch, your Conqueror had the fire chance of a "stock" Gearing. :D
Anyway, your opinion was the reason why I didn't grind past KGV and grind other lines instead, and I have all the other 3 BBs at T10, which I all enjoy(and learning).
Chupacabra2k10 only good part is I don't see them much
Ran into a 3 Conq division, got burnt to death in 3 minutes
Kelvin Foo u should have brought some meat to grill
Only 3 minutes? I'd figure like 1 1/2 most lol
What took them so long?
One Missouri, done sous vide...
Fun and engaging, right ? :D
" ... print a new ship ... ' LOL!
Ive been saying the Conquror should have just been a T10 Warspite. People would have been 100% fine with it.
thats what i expected when i saw the 4*2 457mm at first but wg said fk you we do the shit we want
got my conqueror a week avec the brittish release and sold the ship a week later because its so boring
Yuzorah and now we can’t find the fuck go back button. 8 guns would be balanced cos of all those alpha
Even warspite is not as good as she was before because accuracy nerf en shitty citadeloverpen mechanic so that the potato can sail broadside
And they want to do urss bb next year i can already feel the bullshit coming
What accuracy nerf did they do on the Warspite? Never heard of it
you mean mega zao? 😀
Comes with Create new Zao consumable.
Since the launch of the Royal navy BB line, people just spam HE with every damn BB. Regardless of the ship they play.
It really turns me away from playing PVP and just stick to Operations
Timmy Turner noticed this a lot, regardless of nation, and regardless of tier, though it does happen at low tiers more to be fair.
Jpdillon most low tier players use HE because they arent familiar yet with the difference
Oh sweet! Im so gonna camp behind this island and give this Yamato he-
*Wild Conqueror appears at 10km*
"...."
*Wild Conqueror fires HE salvo, does over 12,000 damage! 4 Fires started! IT WAS VERY EFFECTIVE!*
"This is fine... this is fine... THIS IS FUCKING FINE!"
Phoenix Yakumo the. You use repair then The next salvo he sets 5 fires on you with another 10,000 damage...
Play Hindy
Hide behind island in beginning of game
Spotted for three seconds
Conqueror rains HE on me from 20km setting 3 fires
Repair
Spotted for one more second
His next volley hits me over the island, setting 4 fires
*REEEEEEEEEE*
Plays Yamato.
Gets paired against a 3-man Conq division
Uninstalls after being burned to death from 20km away.
mariofan1ish o god RIP
Show of hands, people. Who thinks giving the Conqueror the 419mm triple guns was a mistake?
*Raises hand*
Good video.
Seth and Camille It still baffles me that literally every BB out - spots my Moskva and my poor Hindi can barely sneak
My first targets is this ship, because of how game breaking the ship is, so i take it out first
this ship is ridiculous.....
I want it! :D
To have it, maybe, but to play against it?
It *punishes* good BB drivers by skill-lessly punishing WHAT BBS SHOULD DO, which is push (properly).
U too
MEGA ZAO
Ahh dammit. I was hoping you were messing around with the 457 guns
Just Monika Wait this ship has 457mm guns?
Yep. Has a broken fire chance of like 65% But most people don't use it cause you only get 8 guns compared to the 12 with the stock guns
And the fact that why you do need the 65% fire change in the 457 gun when your 415 one is very, very good. ;)
Actually it looks like we have some Monika in WoWS, who mess with the game, producing megazaos, hiding citadels etc. One day I find Flolo "hanging" around.
Delete Conqueror.chr please
A RN line that mirrored the Warspite would have been nice Flamu but we both know that that Russian BB's are going to end up being the most accurate. I just wish they would listen to the community about this ship.
I have nothing to add.... completely agrer on everything
marcelogenesis23 I agrer as well
Nakz S who dors not agrer
@@JN-ug5ky plis staph
James Chen yeah i can't do that cause my keyboard is my computer 💻 ...
That’s the thing! I’ve seen people that aren’t sailing RN battleships, especially around low to mid tiers, firing HE at literally anything. I don’t know if they just suck at the game or not, but I knew better before RN BBs so I think they’re just encouraging bad gameplay all around.
"HE is a viable way of doing damage as a Montana" - Potato
"YOU ARE FAKE NEWS" - Me
Well eventhough it might be frustrating.
I’m pretty sure he had like 30k damage and was last on the leaderboard.
the return of the mega zao
Well you know what they say, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.
Shrekha are u talking to me?
Totally agree!!!! This ship is over powered. Even in Yamato, I lose in a 1v 1 battle! He set 3 fire and run away!!!
I mention this to let you know there are a few of us with an impairment that heavily impacts game play.
its funny how a battleship of such proportions has the same detection range as Yorck for example
Playing Conqueror is fun.. playing against it is a NIGHTMARE
Then it's just a question of 'how the hell do you get their heal on cooldown without focusing them?'
You do know that the point of this game is "team work". You don't work with your team and you're fucked.
It hurts my soul when I see NC shooting HE at me.
Hurts even more when I see a Yamato spamming HE.
*REMEMBERS AEROON STREAM OF YAMATO HE SPAM ALL IN GAME ONLY GETS 150K DMG*
ah fuck I hated aerroon for that that was the greatest cancer ever given to me from this game...
I was in my Colorado once when I got caught with my pants down about 12km away from an NC. He was broadside on, so I was planning on trading... until he fired HE. Then I laughed and promptly lopped 17k off of him.
A Bismarck ! shooting HE...
Sadly many people do it now. I see battleships of all types shooting HE and it is so sad. There are so many times I should have been dead and the opposing BB shot HE, see the same on my teams too, even against full broadside targets. HE should have a role but it shouldn’t be the go to for a BB at any tier.
You only spam HE when your secondaries aren't in range
"Requires so little skill". I need this ship
To be fair, there are plenty of Bismarks, NCs, Montanas, etc., that stay in the spawn and snipe. It just seems to be a characteristic of BB players.
ejd53 but Conq is using HE. it doesn't give a damn about angle thier HE raw damage and fire chance is so stupid. Thats why people hate it so much.
ejd53 nc isnt a sniper isnt a brawler ..mid range powerhouse unlike a battle brawler like german ships ..that is fun ..
But this ship..just one shell is enough to light you up or kill most of your aa or secondary ..
Its indestructible literaly ..so messed up !!
Ofc there are. But at least their ships don't actively encourage bad gameplay.
HE Spamming isn't simply a Conqueror trait. It's pretty much the entire RN BB line.
SimonVau I would argue that long range sniping by German BBs with inaccurate guns is bad game play.
What about the Rodney?
Tempest You Us the rodney is a nelson class
Robert goodman, and the warspite is a queen Elizabeth class, so your point is what exactly?
Monarch is what the KGV class would have been without treaty limitations
Vanguard tier 9? Sure. 4x2 15 inch guns with Hood shells sounds perfect for tier IX /s
In order of fun I'd say: Mino, DM, Hindi, Henri, Moskva, Zao
go for the american and keep the cleveland so when the US cruiser split comes you will get to T8 on the other branch
The mino is the cruiser that has most action in its gameplay flamu said that in his coment about her , i kind of dissagree with you that Dm has brawling capacity since its a long range CL and she only has 5torps per side. But i was asking for advice over wich Cruiser line i should farm next.
Thank you ill keep that in mind
MIsho jelev Des Moines (DM) has no torps and floaty archs with a short stock range
Fun gameplay mechanic, crippling the main weapons of the enemy and causing them to rage quit.
roflllllll
but i see more and more conqueror´s dying much faster now.
but still the HE is TO absurd OP!
use IFHE skill & and +2% higher firechance skill and you can kill absolutly everything!
ps: "build a new ship" comment makes me hard lough :D
Yep. He also forgot to mention those who play cruiser with HE and shoot behind island without being spotted.
"Royal Battleships" i think this is enough to explain and answer everything
Ah the Conqueror... She conquers and colonises everything in sight.
I could see it ending up with very high damage numbers, but a very low win rate.
i play this ship as ap only since i dont want to take a shower after every game, its that filthy
how I see a possible nerf to this:
1) raise the citadel to the waterline like montana for example.
3) it may keep the super HE fire chance although I'd bring that down to 45% for the 420's
4)give it at least 12,5k concealment wtf??
Bottom line:
It would be a tier X bb with lower HP but better heal, theoretically having the best hp pool after the heals consumed
Would have insane HE potential but would be easier to punish if showing broadside
AP would be devastating against cruisers with the fast fuse arm
Would still have the better concealment than any tier X BB
AA is strong aswell.. Even with all these changes it would be a very competitive ship
For example I find the Nelson a very well balanced ship. It has all 3 turrets upfront, no 3 turret isn't stupid like the izumo's and can turn left to right properly, has the typical RN fire chance and the amazing heal BUT it also has that huge citadel above the water that you can punish if given the chance...
That's about it
Thanks for the insightful commentary Flamu. And it sounds like you're getting ill. Get some rest and be well.
My reasoning for not getting Conq was more of an aesthetic issue since the British BB superstructure is rather bland. Therefore I stop at KGV.
I am sorry. Conqueror, not OP. Conqueror, not OP! That's like saying a Shimakaze vs Harugumo in a gunfight is fair.
the british BB line is CANCER for this game, wish i could give this video a couple thousand more likes!
I agree with this; I'm from NA and I've been seeing a lot of BBs, especially at high tiers, loading only HE. Especially premium BBs
The big advantage to putting a historical ship in the game is that you know exactly
what the ship was like, where as "paper designs" were more wishful thinking and less practical.
Is Balans.
with the armor on that ship and the concealment im not gonna be in the back, im gonna be screwing people up close
The fact so many potatoes started using HE on BB and attempt to argue how effective they are with HE gives me headache
Completely agree on the conqueror!!
Not so much about the DW torps, but luckily there are many different opinions :)
Always nice to watch your vids Flamu
"print a new ship"
“When I press my ‘I win’ button-“
This is old conquerer in the vid btw it has nerfs now so its fine it cant even run the 457mm guns anymore
It's still OP...
As always an informative video. Thank you for posting.
@Flamu For the last 3 points, if you don't have dunkirk (sadly), would you still advise jack of all trade + EL, or rather basics of survavibility ?
Thank you Flamu for the next ship i will grind. let the cancer commence!!!
the game is just getting more and more casual, the new carrier update is like these battleships
no need for real management, just infinite planes and just play a stupid app game to drop stuff
takes out any tactical use the carrier had to just tunnel vision
The game is just appealing to the lowest common denominator
The amount of times I have made a mistake and end up facing 2 BB who are in two different arcs, I think I am dead only to find them both firing HE and after sinking them sailing away and thanking them in chat for firing HE. When they do it to my Nelson I must admit I laugh :)
I remember Yamatos used to be very real threats that were hard to take down. Now they seem like glass cannons compared to things like the conquerer.
I like how even the game itself admits that the 457mm guns are a downgrade
I got my Conquerer awhile ago, figuring "oh it CANT be as OP as all these people saying it is say"
halfway into my first game, I realized how wrong i was, as i lit a Yamato up in 3 places, while doing 12k dmg in a single salvo...
"balance"
I miss the time where the Yamato is the most feared ship at T10
@Flamu What changes would you make to balance Conq? (Genuine question)
You sold me, I now want a Conqueror. :D
Gonna grind it. Tired of the overpen and deflect bullshit all the time with ap
Yep, Agree with you Flamu
I think WG should at Least raise the citadel so the gameplay should be changed.
Talos same here bro playing since 2015 after uk bb n ca i play only 4 or 3 battle ... There is no more fun
Then maki it fun
So 1 ship ruins the whole game, really?.....rofl
I disagree. It's still fun. So what if you're against it...just learn to play better :)
Had a game this week where an Allied Amagi was firing HE exclusively, even against cruisers >.
Only counter is cvs which are going to be rework to be more (fun and action based)
(FUCK THE CONQUEROR!)
The thing damn near outspots my Prinz Eugen and I have a full stealth build on her, its absurd! Though imo, NC has better concealment than Prinz as well.... REEE THE CREEPS!
And even the CVs can't sink that ship without wasting 4-6 squadrons or even more! The AA is just ridiculous.
Simple, make a limit on the number of fires, total, that a ship takes. What is left to burn on deck after 4 fires? Fires treat every ship like a carrier with fully loaded decks.
you had me at triple cit on the yamato. tyvm, grinding it asap lol
Well of course.
Saying this ship is Still dumb is like saying the Ocean is still Salty
>Ocean is still Salty
Just like my ass every time WG introducing new stuff last 1.5years (at least).
wow. seems like i chose the wrong line to grind. this sounds like my type of ship.
Why dont you grind to the Khaba as well while your at it.
I had a Tirpitz trying to HE me. I think that set-fire rate is a mere 20%. As for the Royal Navy battleships, they need to nerf the fire chance, nerf it.
You speak straight out of my mind
Watching this two years after release... they didn't change it
Despite me grinding it, i'm not sure if i gona keep it
Considering Warspite - i would like to try a BB with good accuracy but bad grouping and decent shells, good concealment but bad armor with enhanced heal, and decent maneuverability with bad turret traverse
Sounds familiar?
I'd say nerf concealment and range and it might be in a better spot... not sure if it will ever be balanced, but that way it isn't that camping in the back kind of ship that still is effective as hell
