Should bring the CWC back. There’s a difference between a good cup team and a good league team. It would return prestige to the FA Cup too.

I agree with you man , it was a great concept from a football purest view, but think now with the money in the game all the big teams in Europe have so much money and squad's they're winning a lot of doubles and trebles now , so with them being in the Champions League they can't compete in the European Cup Winners Cup,
And it will demeanor the Cup if a lot of teams in the tournament were the Domestic Cup runner's up
I think that's why in the late 1990s the tournament was done away with , too many Big teams doing doubles and trebles,
      The answer though (for me)
Champions League just the league winners from each European country
Europa league - 2nd 3rd 4th from each country's league complete, it'd be a much stronger and better and prestigious competition
Europa Conference , from 5th to 8th or 10th in the leagues compete....... I don't really care for that tournament 😂😂😂😂😂

1990 IMO with the FA Cup, however that whole run with Ferguson was amazing. Even those we lost were either close run or bad luck. 92 league, 94 League Cup, 95 league, 98 league and UCL etc etc (UCL was pain for United throughout the 90s and 2000s. It was either draconian rules in which we couldn't play our real team, away goals or straight up injustice....come the end it was the greatest team of players in my memory, Barcelona that denied us 3 champions leagues in 4 years). To this day I believe it is Ferguson's biggest regret, not securing more Champions League trophies than we should have.

It was the easiest of the 3 European trophies to win but it was always considered the 2nd most prestigious. If a team qualified for the UEFA Cup through their league position but won their domestic cup they entered the Cup Winners Cup. And the winners of the Cup Winners Cup played the European Cup winners in the Super Cup. Plus it came with the added bonus of the final being played as a one off game at a neutral venue.

This is when everything was starting to fall into place for Utd. You might actually trace it back to a day in early January 1990 when a Manchester Utd team in terrible form in the league went to the City ground needing a win in the FA Cup to keep their season alive, you might also remember a section of Utd supporters who probably still dont show their faces, Unfurled the famous banner “3 Years Of Excuses And It’s Still Crap. Ta Ra Fergie.” . No one expected Utd to go to Nottingham and get anything. Forrest were a very good side especially at home but Mark Robins got the all important goal in a 1-0 win. Then there was the famous Oldham game and Robbins goal again.
But I trace it all back to that day in January 1990 when things started to change.

Back to my childhood when Hughes, Robson, and McClair were my heroes. I thought they were the best players in the world. Never thought that we're gonna have much better players in Scholes, Giggs, Beckham, van Nistelrooy, Rooney, or van Persie. More importantly, 15 years later football in general will be having two of best players of all time: Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi, the GOAT.
