she was born in Belgium, lived there and in Nederlands (where her mother was from) during WWII. Then moved to Britain (where her father was from), then lived in EEUU and finally she lived and died at Switzerland, she even adopted the nationality.
For certain periods of time she lived and worked in the U.S. while filming. There's a video on Utube of her home in NYC. She also remarried to an Italian doctor and lived in Rome for several years raising their son, Luca Dotti. He, I believe lives in Rome still, possibly the same home he was raised in with his half brother whose name escapes me.
