I working in a glass and aluminum parking booth all day. Then I go home to my building which also has a parking garage, and hang out with my buddy that works in a booth there for few hours. I must be crazy.
Yea right i valet in bk ny when i was younger say 19. Our lot was 5 blocks away. We had cars waiting to get in the club for 6 blocks say 200 cars on friday night. And sat. When we ran out of spots. We parked on streets and wrote the info where the car is on the ticket. You jave to be very quick and calculated. 5 guys park 200 cars in an hour is like watching valet ballet. Until theres accidents lmao . We had a valet slam a brand new acura 3.5 type s. In blue. Into fire hydrant. Water everywhere. He skidded the car on turn. The stories a can tell yall. Are mind boggling.
Not to sound like that person but this looks like a job that gets depressing over the years..have to constantly be nice to customers regardless? Yeah no.
Location: Detroit, company: park rite, rating: 1 I'll be showing this to my co-workers for reference, i tend to get frowned upon from my valet coworkers for completing these steps successfully. Even tho Ive shared these steps with them i see this is what they don't want to do. It frustrates me because my supervisors is just as bad. Horse play lolly gagging no sense of urgency or hospitality. Hopefully i still have a job with the company because the supervisor called the police on me for telling the full shift these things and all they responded with is i listen to the supervisor not me. The supervisor told me to leave and i refused because i need to work. Why am i being targeted for successfully completing the job and encouraging my peers to do the same? I'm just saying the company i been working at, for 50 days don't enforce all of these and it reflects in the tips.
I love this job valet parking because I'm a hotel driver in my country Philippines. And I work also before as a valet parking driver because nationality eavery you always talking to all people arriving in the hotel I like it thxs
You call security. You let the guest know that you will be releasing the car (as it is illegal to hold someones property) and you inform the guest that if they choose to drive away security will be notifying local police with description of car and plates.
In my company under no exception would we give the keys back to a drunk car owner, most of the time we would call them an Uber or Lyft and we would write a report at the end of the day saying how much I spent on an Uber and said reason for using an Uber, and then we would get reimbursed plus an extra 5 dollars.
Until you get a customer that says: “who the hell said open my door?” 🤣
😣this happen to me

HAHAH yeah this is how it goes on video, not IRL.
30-40 cars an hour? No way. Being generous with 30 cars, thats only 120 seconds to Greet, take luggage, and find a spot to park?
Joe Manfredi yup that’s why you have a full staff. So it all gets done in 5-10 minutes mostly due to the luggage runs.
Julian Sowards if it’s easy to find spots it can always be done
Yes I work at ohare chicago and it’s crazy no time to relax
30 to 40 cars an hour is very true. I work at a dealership and we get 30 cars/1 hour in rush time

Hi Zak... I have a question if the owner of the car wants his car back but you can tell that he’s drunk what do you do?
Good question did you get an answer for this?
The at my valet job we can say no to obviously drunk people
