    My friend is letting me borrow it this morning. He put mishas signature bare knuckles in so let’s see how that goes 🙏

    That tone!

    They're the same guitar. The TRB bit just specifies it's colour (Transparent Red Burst).

    Nice review! i'm really looking into getting this guitar. The only thing i'm concerned about is how well does it hold tuning due to no locking tremelo.

    25.5 is fine for an 8 string as long as you use a higher gauge.
    Example: On my SC208, which was my first 8 string . . I have it strung with Ernie Ball Slinky 8's, their F# is a 0.74 and this works fine and has good tension, whereas you wouldnt use that set on a 27" scale guitar unless you liked heavier gauge strings.
    The differences in scale length arent really about string tension though, its about intonation.

      What I should have said in the video is "in my opinion 25.5" doesn't work". Yes, you need a thicker gauge for it to be workable with, and some players prefer that scale. Playing a 25.5" 8 string just feels really weird to me. Having a neck that wide with a 25.5" length feels out of balance for me.

    Go with what feels right for you, scale wise. I personally don't like Schecter guitars in general. As for tension, if you had the gauge of strings I use, but on a 26.5" scale, the strings would be slightly less taut compared to the 27". Hope that helps.

    Not as floppy as you'd think to be fair. For what I do with my band, I tune the lowest string to G, which is spot on for what I'm looking for. For F# it is a little loose but it's workable, it more of a case of not being too aggressive with the picking.

    Hey I know this is super old but do thicker gauge strings fit in the tuning peg holes? I know I've encountered some guitars where that was surprisingly a problem. I'm thinking 74 gauge on the low E, do you think that would work? Thanks! And nice vid! :)

    What's the difference between the S8QM and the S8QM-TRB?

    Michael Baddeley what did you end up changing your pickups to? i have this same guitar but in the grey.
    i changed mine out to seymour duncan nazgul 8 and sentient 8... the nazgul is really really hot for a passive (they also have an active version) and my sentient sits really low for some reason... just curious as to what you went with and how it sounds

      I've not actually changed them yet, but I will be changing them for BKP Aftermaths, as I feel they compliment my tone best, and have the percussive character I'm looking for, without it being too hot.

    What do you think about 26.5 inches for an 8-string guitar? I read schecter uses that scale a lot. Technically speaking, wouldn't this same gauge mounted on the ibanez be tighter with that 0.5" less? This tension thing kind of confuses me! I'd really hate that "out of tune flappiness" while riffing.

    Would you recommend the S series over the RG? I'm a little worried about th less tone factor with the S.

    • @MitchyTheKiller
      @MitchyTheKiller  10 лет назад +1

      I like both, depends on what you're looking for in terms of feel. The S series are more ergonomic, and are more comfortable to play, yet the RG feels more like a guitar than the S does. With the RG series having thicker and heavier bodies, they have better balance when you play standing up. either way, I recommend either. Always try before you buy as well.

    I have one of these and I don't know if the rose wood fret board is treated or not, do you know if it is? Also you sir have really nice taste in guitars =^u^=

    Oddly the thing I noticed is that you have the original Sonic plushie

    I avoid signature models in general. As much as they are awesome, most are worth stupid amounts, and they're built specifically to that particular players specs. As for putting a floating bridge on an 8-string, just no. Unless your looking to retune your lowest strings on a regular basis, stick with a fixed bridge. The one on this does hold well in my opinion.

    To be honest, I couldn't tell you. I would imagine it is, but that just going by how it looks and feels.

    I'm just waiting for Ibanez to slap a ZR trem on this model and then I'll be buying one. Patience...

    Was this purely to insult me? The tone might not shine through as well, as the audio was recorded with the camera. Not the best mic to demonstrate with, granted. Still, no need for hateful comments like that mate.

    I have an s621qm how much different would it feel to its 6 string counterpart?

    • @MitchyTheKiller
      @MitchyTheKiller  7 лет назад

      With it being an 8 string, it feels a lot different to a 6, with there being a longer scale and the extra 2 strings. I'd recommend trying out an 8 string first before you buy one just to gauge how one feels for you.

    does this s8 fits to the m20sibanez hardcase?
    newbie here, sorry for asking?

      I don't think it is to be honest. You'd be better off looking at either the W101RG or the MP100C.

      I actually can't remember where I got it from... It was a UK based retailer though (as I'm from England). Type it in on Google, you should get some results. Remember to use the TRB at the end as well, narrow down your options.

    0.65!!! jesus christ that must be flappy as hell. I've got a first year Omen 8 (also 26.5) and I use an 0.80 for F# for a slightly tight string
