Nope. By design, it looks old, but that is intentional - it has to survive an EMP/HEMP blast of at least 100,000v/M. More old school knobs and switches won't burn during an EMP, while micro-electronic switches will (I'm guessing, but probably any wire will burn over 22 AWG).

at 509th Bomb Wing, Pease, AFB, Portsmouth, NH, we had the FB-111's
come in to be stationed at that base.
The Wing Commander flew by with the
afterburner on, and in the hardened

"To err is human, To forgive is Devine,

I'm in no way knocking it's superior capabilities of withstanding EMP weapons.. It's concerning that a little EF-1 Tornado took our Doomsday Plane out of commission for three months.. What happens if it's a nuclear fallout blast of 200mph winds or higher? It might not be a bad idea to keep the same technologies, but do a redesign of the craft itself, maybe something that's lower to the ground, and maybe that is more stealth in design, and when parked on the ground can retract it's wheels, so is set firmly on the ground..
Let that EF-1 Tornado be a learning experience on what needs to be improved, and not just a bad experience..
Thanks for your hard work and keeping America safe.

      "Nuclear fallout blast"
No offense but I don't think you know what any of these words mean based on the way you're using them.
Nothing that can fly can be made to survive a blast overpressure in excess of a couple psi, it's simply impossible. There's a reason why we operate more than one of these.

@@slightlyirradiatedmuffin3257 That does not change the fact that $8 million dollars in repairs had to be made to one of the aircraft for damage that it sustained which could have been prevented if it were in a hanger.
They _did_ spend that money on those repairs, and those repairs could have been avoided by putting it in a hanger.
I don't get what your point is. It's not like if, given the option, they wouldn't put the thing in a hanger. They simply just don't have one there large enough to hold it. So .. build one.
I'm not talking about national security, and I never mentioned or implied that. I'm talking about basic common sense and fiscal responsibility.
