    I replaced my blade with a Dewalt Carbide Edge blade and fit just fine. Some other blades didn't even fit.

      How do you like the Dewalt Carbides? I almost picked some up.

    I highly recommend taking out the straight blade and installing a 'KOBALT carbon steel hook utility razor blade' for amazing cutting abilities! ✅ It's like having a pocket sized Kukri knife.

    How to resolve this is open up your sidewinder and you will see a silver plate inside take that out and you will notice it has 2 lips protruding that lock the blade.
    What you need to is file the 2 lips on the inside slightly and if you have a different blade try to insert it and if it inserts easily then you can put your sidewinder back and it will easily fit any other brands of blades

      Just bought two of these and a box of 50 Dewalt carbide blades, and THEN saw the blade issues. Hope this works, thanks!!

    Great Video: At the 6 minute mark in your video you use the slide mechanism as a sparker which over time may damage your knife. You may find that the back of your utility blade works better without wear and tear to your knife for sparking a Ferro rod. Give it a try I think you'll be pleased with the results. It still will count as another use too ;) Thanks again for the video.

    OMFG I'm super jealous of your black model.
    When I bought mine they only had blue and orange.
    So obviously I bought both...

    I bought the Slidewinder and loved it until it came time to replace the blade. Standard replacement blades DO NOT fit in mine. The ONLY blade that fits and works properly in mine is the blade it came with. I tried Milwaukee, Rapid Edge, and Dewalt replacement blades as well with zero luck

    You need to buy non coated utility blades and they will work perfectly

      I've tried a few different blades (all uncoated) none of them work. What specific one worked for you?

      Chris Tollefson it can get frustrating, hit or miss when you buy the blades. I have since moved on to the Giltek RUK V2 ($35), well worth it. No blade issues at all

    I like the Gerber Prybid a bit more, outdoor edge slidewinder is still a great utility knife though.

    coast dx 126 is a far superior mini utility blade also recommend the folding mossy oak/work pro utility blades the come in a 2 pk or 3 pk for about 15 bucks.

  • @AsifSiraj

    It has nothing today with the actual thickness of the blade. Inside the slidewinder the part that locks onto the 2 notches on the blade is just slightly to big file that down and it will accept any blade

    I had one for a while and liked it until the slide button fell apart just sitting in my pocket and it kept jamming and would not automatically retract like it was suppose too. The phillips head screwdriver metal is very soft and rounded upon tightening one screw. Great idea but it's not worth the $10 it goes for I would pass on this one if I were you.

    Try and replace the blade with a commercially available one. You will find that the slide and locking mechanism will not work with a standard blade. Really disappointing.

      I had a problem with a serrated utility blade. It would not lock open. But other standard blades work fine for me.

    • @bbrachman
      @bbrachman 5 лет назад

      @@NickCornaglia I got a replacement knife from Outdoor Edge. No replacement blade that I have will allow the mechanism to extend and lock. So, both knives suffer the same problem. The company has not responded to my email concerning this design problem. Measuring the original blade I found that their blade is 1/16" shorter and hundredths of an inch thinner. I cannot find a blade that size. No one gives those dimensions in their descriptions. I am stuck with two knives without a blades.

    • @NickCornaglia
      @NickCornaglia 5 лет назад

      @@bbrachman I have not tried but does knocking the tip off of the back edge help? Not something you want to do but maybe that will work. I also have not taken the knife apart yet to see of there is something that can be done inside to help the situation.

      @@NickCornaglia By accident, I actually found a brand and make of replacement blade that fits and works. Really. I replaced this knife with a Gil-Tek RUK and tried the blade that came in that. They work.

      Just got mine from Amazon the other day. Bought some Lenox Gold blades to give it a nice budget-friendly upgrade and they are too thick. The slide will not lock open and does not auto close as the blades are too thick for the spring and slide to over come. Disappointing. I guess my tool bag utility knife just got an upgrade and I'll try the blade pack that came with it to see if they work. Really was hopeful for this knife. Too bad. Hopefully they will hear the community and release an updated version with better blade versatility. Which to me is the heart of having something like this product.

    I bought an outdoor edge from Amazon and it is garbage. The blade is easy to open but it pops back in just by slightly touching the orange button on the tool. It is way too easy to spring closed when you're using the tool. Get a sliding TPT and you'll never have this problem again.
