"That was with the noise suppressor on, bro"
"That's awesome"

YES!!!! This is exactly what I've been wanting pickup manufacturers to do! Now I can actually see what different pickups sound like through MY gear, not a $10k studio setup. Thank you!
That smile grin at the end ahah
Mindblowing stuff...
“The next artist I’ll let speak for himself”
....Proceeds to speak about him....
Brilliant, Ken.
Why don’t people listen to themselves?
He literally is interviewed, did you watch the video?
I wish I could watch Tosin play guitar all damn day
This is just the video on Tosin's channel but with a long introduction...
maco de blacko It would surprise me greatly if Tosin was doing new sales videos with that Ibanez prototype ...
Exactly... still doesn’t clarify things
Yeah this is old footage, in the original he a/b's the Fishman with other pickups
What needs clarification? What would you like to know?
@@kensusi7312 and they dont even ask you lol. I just picked up a set of these. If you reply, I'll let you know what I think after I install them.
That grin at the end !!!!! Priceless
cool so see he still rocking the various ibanez's even with his abasi line these days
One of the greatest players in the world today, plays unreal chord progressions and sweeping lead lines that bring tears to you eyes! Touches the eighth string...”faaaart faaart flub flub faaaart”.
Sounds great, but I was hoping for an explanation of how specifically the Tosin set differs from the other models and what their particular strengths might be. I think most of what's said about the pickups in this video supposedly applies to all Fluence sets, right?
I got these pickups in my 7 string and they were really hard to get working correctly. Have the 5 way super switch with a push pull that seems to work on the 1-3-5 positions. 2-4 are amazing and glassy sounding. I was very satisfied with them when I first got them. Now that I’ve put some hours into them I can tell you that these are truly amazing pickups. The low end doesn’t boom anymore and the tones are so rich and full. Sometimes I just want to play power chords all day just to hear the bite these deliver. I plug into a 5150 III 50w with a Zakk Wylde overdrive. I don’t even need the overdrive pedal anymore! My only complaint is how difficult they were to get setup. I still have a little bit of buzz in the 4 position switch. I don’t know why but everything else is dead silent. It’s like they have a noise gate on them. Anyway, I recommend these pickups. When you drop tune they really get in their comfy range. I think I’m going to get Fluence pickups in my G&L . Perhaps the Koch...
awesome. would love to hear some
dl 7 can you send me your email?
Fluence: what tone spectrum are you looking for in a pickup?
Tosin: yes
Such a vivid yet gentle tone. Tastes like vanilla.
8:15 I thought my computer was broken
Tosin is AMAZING!!! You rock man. love all your stuff.
there is an error at 6:31 the name song is "Nephele" and not "The glass bridge"
I think the one after that was The glass bridge?
Ezzywezzybear O yes it is
outstanding definition and clarity.
that little riff from "on impulse" gets me so excited every time I hear it. fuuuuuuuuhckkk
I own, have owned or tried quite a few pickups in my 20 years of playing guitar. I currently own Fishman Moderns, Dimarzio D-Activators, Lundgren M7, Dimarzio X2N, Dimarzio Liquifire & Crunchlab, Dimarzio Fusion Edge, EMG 808s and the list goes on. The Fishman Abasi pups smoke all of these pickups. Easily.
I expected these pickups to scream, but what you may not be aware of is how clean they can get. These require a 5-way switch and the 2&4 positions sound beautiful. I would have never imagined I could get such beautiful clean tones out of an active pickup.
If you're like me and you want all the advantages of an active, but don't wanna lose those clean tones then these are for you.
Cheers
I already fell in love with the Modern set on a Strandberg 7 string I tried at a store, and from my first impression these are even better than those!
His face at the end was like hehehhee
"I can do this all day"
Lovely white 8 string Fluences! Would love to get a hold of a production version of them!
That ending, tho...
nope
I just bought these! Just do it!
Your playing ability is awesome! I forgot I was watching a introduction of the pickups video as I was zoned out on your playing. Wow!
I’d really like to see a demo of Fishman pickups in a solo instrumental guitar setting. Something where you get to hear more of the lead sound of the guitar and not just riffing or shredding. I play a lot of lead guitar in a blues, rock and metal setting and I am very intrigued by these pickups and what they offer.
Islandsoundzz I can send you some sounds.
send me
I can’t figure out how to send u the video. You have any tips?
ayyyye, it's brother ken....
D-D-D-Djent + Shred= 👍👌🎸DSHRED🎸👌👍
Tosin Abasi=The KING of Dshred
WOW! 🎸😲EXCELLENT VIRTUOSO
A couple days ago I bought a pawn shop Jackson 7 string. At some point someone decided to rewire the tone pot as the neck humbuckers volume- they chowdered the soldering job and when I tested the guitar it gave back a horrible hum and squeal.
Within a couple hours I was on Sweetwater ordering the Javier Reyes pickups. I’m super excited specifically for the versatility in tone.
Abasi’s are significantly better IMO.
Loving the tones but overall it's just his demo with the non-fishman sections cut out. Would have at least expected some kind of interview/conversation about the Tosin sigs
One question. What surgery is required for my thumbs to be shaped like Tosin's?
Lmao. I'm thinking a few hundred thousand hours of practice and being double jointed. Either that, or robo thumbs....
My wife has thumbs like that and they freak me out
@@blackkramer tell her to start thumpin'
The one that removes the bone
Oh shit I didn't realize until I saw this comment that he has hitchhiker thumb like me. Unfortunately, mine did not come with his skill.
Mad sustain btw
yo Ken I recently bought a prototype pair of EMG 57/66 that were given to you back in 2012. i found out they were yours though some email enquiries with EMG. weird right?
Why is he so godlike, WHY!
el mejor para mi lejos!!!
I have the 6 string set of these and Im a fan. However, I still think it’s unclear what the differences are between these different sets and I don’t think these video comparisons would help as the players are all using different gear.
wait a sec is that Ken Susi?
Is he, like, the brand manager at Fishman now? I know he's got their pickups...but i didn't know this!
Yeah, has been for years.
The big issue I have with the Tosin series pickups is they don't come in passive sized housings for the 7 string and 8 string models. I have a 7 string Ibby that came with passives that I would LOVE to put the Tosin signatures in, but nope.... :(
A luthier will be able to expand the spaces for the pickups for the active housing
Mitchell Djunaedi That’s ...ahem...not a very good solution. It requires permanently modifying the guitar. Just release the damned things in a passive housing size 🤔. I think I’m gonna get the moderns instead. Or the open core classics. But I really do like the sound of the Tosins.
@@5urg3x just because it is a permanent solution doesn't make it bad however I see your point.
When was this filmed? Tosin is still rocking his late Ibanez model with his earlier sig chilling on the couch
That look on Tosin face made me pick up my guitars 🤣😎🎸🍺🍺
EPIC!!!
Isn't 6:31 Tooth and Claw from Joy of Motion?
6:31 song is nephele, and pickup is in first position not fourth
A very nice smile.
didn't Tosin quit ibanez? Why is he holding one o.o
Tosin's portion is literally just an older video that he has uploaded on his own channel right now. It was published in February of 2017, well before he departed from Ibanez.
And he does get to keep the guitar lmao, if you watch the original, you'll see some other brands too
Oh well. You gotta do what you gotta do. It's only Ibanez's fault, so they can't really get upset on him :D
@@SleepBlackheart it wouldve been too expensive to mass produce his new signature, so tosin left and made his own company
that was with the noise suppressor on bro
That sustain I thought the video was jacked up.
Now just show Fluence pickups to Meshuggah guys and I will buy their signature. I hope Frederick will love them. I want my tone to be THALL AF. And I want a new Meshuggah album made using Fluence pickups.
love
is this guy reading from a screen lol? every video he throws those Pauses in between words lmao
He probably reads each line multiple times so they can take the best versions.
Ricardo Figueroa hes a tard.. be p.c dawg
Yes. You can see his eyes fixated on a point that isn’t the camera.
he's receiving the words from himself in the future.
No script... Good try though!
How does this go up against Deathbuckers?
I wanted to hear what they sound with some chunky palm muting and and alteri picking stuff. How do they sound as far as DEATH METAL type rhythm stuff? The Lead and Clean sounded outstanding?
this is old because he's using is own brand guitars now!
6:32 looks like the pickup switch is in the 2nd position, not the 4th?
How does he bend his right thumb back that far!?
Just nitpicking but had one of the song titles wrong. It said glass house when it was nephele.😉
uploaded at the moment and Tosin still holding Ibanez signature in the video???
Thanks for the explanation.
Do you guys think that these or classic open cores would do better for a beefy jazz tone?
Ken Susi plays guitahhh
6:31. Pickup selector looks like it's at first position but caption says fourth. Mistake?
How calld this song\track on 1:44?
I cant open the sound clips... the files are corrupted or sth
Ken, is there any difference aside from size between the 6, 7, and 8 string Tosin Abasi sets?
On a wound pickup, there definitely would be some degree of difference. But on these there is none due to how the voicings are "programmed" in rather than physically wound into shape.
Definitely Nephele and not The Glass Bridge. Good job Fishman editor
The video was uploaded by Tosin on his channel, so... blame Tosin?
abasi's sound is in the axfx. he sounds the same with any kind of pickups.
are these alnico or ceramic?
The Fluence sound like a ceramic magnet pickup.
this tosin fishman available with chrome burshed?
can the Fluence Modern Alnico bridge play modern death metal like The Haunted and Feared stuff (active mode)? and a bit of Periphery maybe (passive mode)?!
Yes
Ola is using our pickups in the haunted
Cant wait for the day when I can call "23 and Me" and say,
"yeah ill pay $12K for Tosin's DNA"
Those single coil tone are bit scratchy and bright for my taste.Other then that sounds great.
I don't know if it's the pick-ups or simply Tosin's effect chain but that lead tone sounds way to compressed.
he started own guitar brand and this shape belongs to him
Little bit of both. He has/had a video on his channel comparing these to some other brand pickups like dimarzio. These sound a bit more compressed with a much tighter, less thumpy low end. The reasoning for this is so he has extreme clarity on that low string, although it's not my cup of tea.
Its the amp, not the pick ups
YHWH revength right they should've shown amp setup and settings as well
they should have recorded DI
still using Ibanez?
umm he is using ibanez guitar ? i thought he started his own compnay ? can anyone update me ..
SCRollNinja this is from an older video. He designed this guitar while still being endorsed by ibanez, so they built it for him. Now he has his own company.
SCRollNinja true the video might have been recorded before he started his company
8:08 my computer froze...
I'm only here for my nigga.
What song was at 3:20?
I know most people talk about how good a guitarist he is and all but
what water is this man drinking
Smart Water
Dude how did I not know that Ken was the brand manager of Fishman Pickups holy shit
Use emg...goodddd....now use fishmen...gooddd.....next year use sd...goodddd....
Tosin went from EMG to DiMarzio to Seymour Duncan to Fishman pickups. I wonder what’s next.
So, awesome! Better than Vai!!
bro I live in europe how do I get these
Thomann.
Sounds like a guitar to me
agree
Yeah it may sound normal and all but it all depends on what the guitar player likes the most and all that jazz.
I dont really get it when someone talks shit about music like this not just about animals as leaders..yes it is heavy maybe even too saturated from a sound point of view but thats how it is, this guitar work alone is really interesting, just respect this. It is cool to do the pentatonic stuff, it is cool to play like lou reed, it is cool to write these intricate sound maze
THAT SUSTAIN
Be a lot cooler if he played with no effect. hard to tell if thats not just the pedal sounding so good. not to say, this dude is the best guitar player in the world alive right now.
song at 2:00 ?
Fergus Clayton backpfeifengesicht
so harsh sounding
same
Wait you guys create pickups and you consider "live play" as an actual category ? That´s a really nice way to say "yeah we´re gonna make em active and compress the living sh*t outta the DI to make up for our clients occasional fuck ups" lmao
Tosin talking about dynamic differences within these pickups is an insult every sound mind listening. Half of this video are playthroughs with obviously inconstistent picking/thumping and the pickups make every note sound the same.
3:29 I don´t know if that 8th string is fret buzzing or straight up clipping to make my speakers fart but yess that´s what good pickups sound like.
7:37 Oh yesss back at it with Cafo, the "Let´s try to sweep so fast no one gives a shit about my fuckups"-hymn, now with an extra touch of "you don´t care about my mistakes if my tone is mushed"-cream provided by fishman pickups.
Clean tones sound so bad to my ears...
That CAFO tone was pure garbage.
Not one groove, no soul. Like if a robot made music.
I wish I could get into these pickups but they just have an almost “plastic” sound to them, not a single set so far has sounded good, and yes I’ve listened through a good stereo system and other such devices. I don’t get the hype, to each their own I guess but I will stick with my Seymour Duncan’s.
Nice try Seymour Duncan employee
when youre tired of shitty bassists in your band XD
To much Talk! Get on with it!
