  • For every boxing fan, Iron Mike’s career evokes a vivid range of memories - victories, knockouts, scandals, and defeats, but most importantly - greatness. Since the peak of Iron Mike's career, more than one generation of heavyweight boxers has changed. But none of them managed to outshine Tyson. Iron Mike won the lion's share of his matches in the early years of his career when he crushed opponents one after another and accumulated early victories. But like most boxers, he also had defeats. In this issue, we will show you all the defeats of the legendary Mike Tyson.

Your analysis of this fight is completely inaccurate. Mike's best rounds were the 6th and 7th, aside from that bullshit knockdown, and that's exactly when Evander head butted him, cutting Mike. Evander cheats his ass off in every fight, and he was never the draw Mike was when he fought.

Mike Tyson is the GOAT, he's the only reason I watched Boxing, never watched after him, as most of the fights without him were boring.

That fight showed what an underachiever Douglas really was. He had everything needed to end up an ATG, except the will and motivation to train hard. The one time he put it all together, he was incredible.
6’4, 230, 83in reach, a pole axe of a jab, solid right hand, good sense of timing and range, fairly quick hands for his size. He had so much to work with.

He was average compared to many other fighters of that generation, he fought the best fight of his career against Tyson due to losing his mother in the build up to the fight, so literally didn’t care & just laid it all on Tyson, who juxtaposed barely trained & didn’t even have a cut man in his corner he thought it’d be so easy…

If only Tyson stayed away from the party lifestyle and Don King we would have the greatest boxer that ever did it.
Tyson ones said to the reporter that "People disrespect me but your children and grandchildren will still talk about Mike Tyson" and that was so true.

It seemed when Tyson would face the great fighters who werent afraid of him he would crumble mentally late in the fight. This is why i cant put him in the top 5. Hes a great fighter, and his legend is warranted. But, he couldnt beat any of the top tier fighters of the era

Douglas had the longest reach and height advantage. its why he didnt flinch when offensive. Holyfield also had height, but kept closing and headbutting.

You will always be the the king of the 1980s I wonder what Tyson would look like fighting in today's Heavyweight division. What would he have done fighting Tyson Fury or Wilder or even Usyk. Hey a guy can dream can't he?

Its near impossible to stay undefeated as a heavyweight but at least Mike Tyson fought the best out there at the time and took a loss, his legacy lives on because of that, Mayweather ruined the sport with his cherry picking...as a fan I want to see fights like Holyfield v Tyson not Mayweather v bum...the division was not that strong when Tyson turned up but he fought everyone and deserved undisputed.

At 2:26 was when Mike's eye had a thumb jammed in it, causing it to swell up huge. You can see Mike reach up to his eye and keep it covered for a few seconds.

    “The great Mike Tyson.”
Nope. Great was what he could have been. Actual greatness belongs to the fighters who had more than incredible talent. The greats were also wise, discerning, disciplined and incredibly focused. Tyson will forever stand on the doorstep of greatness because of his woeful decision making. By the way, a boxing count isn’t 10 seconds like on a watch. Otherwise they would use actual watches and not referee counts. It is the referees discretion based in several factors. Douglas got up according to the speed of the refs count. Tyson got his ass whipped by Douglas and his worshippers are deluded half wits.

There was always something fishy about that fight and the ref's bias towards Holyfield. Not right what Tyson did but it was out of pure frustration.

  • @Bhodisatvas

The world of boxing could have been so so different if Tyson went straight to his corner after the Douglas knockdown and the ref got to count to 10.

Douglas was fine. He was clearly watching the count and was getting up when needed. He beat the f#ck out of Mike all night.
