As a Packer fan, I've loved how Pat and the boys have handled this. Attacking Pat for reacting to a big story doesn't help anyone, and hopefully no one ever listens to Schefter again. He knew what he was doing. Dan Patrick almost sounded disgusted after he admitted there was no source that day.

He didn't though. He took lots of little pieces of information he had, and assembled them to try and figure out what they meant. Maybe he got it wrong, but he didn't do anything nefarious. As far as it being reported on right before the draft, he straight up said chatter about it had increased so he decided he couldn't hold off on reporting it any longer because someone else would. Being first counts for a lot in journalism. And is it so surprising chatter about Rodgers maybe moving would increase around draft day, especially if it was real?

As a Viking fan (yes there are a few of us) who followed the Favre drama unbelievably intensely back from 07 to 09, it was incredible how wrong or deceitful these “reporters” can be without anyone holding them accountable. If I was a pro athlete I would never talk to or even acknowledge the media. Marshawn had it right.

@@randombutrelevant I think the anger, whatever anger there is, was due to the fact that Green Bay is in a position to win now, and they used their first round pick to draft someone who doesn't help them now. The window for success is rarely open for more than a couple of seasons, and Aaron and the Packers know this, but as an organization they seemed to not care that they are in that window right now. Had they spent that draft pick on a key position player who could help the team now, instead of someone who spent the year on the bench, maybe they would have beaten Tampa and gone to and possibly won another Superbowl.

One is an ordely accounting of facts before a certain select group of judges, whether in an employment, education, or criminal proceeding. Cancel culture is typically a swarm of Twitter users making a mass of reports based on incomplete or faulty info in an effort to achieve their desired outcome before the established accountability process can even occur.

I feel like you guys misinterpreted the interview. The lies were from all of the news outlets saying Rodgers released it himself on draft day, that Rodgers called himself Michael Jordan, etc.
People assumed that Schefter was relaying breaking news; that Aaron Rodgers told Schefter he wanted out on draft day. That's not what happened at all. Schefter followed the story for months, most likely spoke to many close sources to the Packers and Rodgers and made the story based on facts. Then he released the story on draft day; the story is still very true, the assumptions people made were not. He never lied about anything.

Actually, real journalists (not talking head editorialists that you get on some networks) are held to a code of ethics, which is kind of why this is a big deal. If Schefter did not have sources to verify his story, I'd fully expect him to be forced to issue an apology or even be suspended.

I just feel in my layman's opinion that if you're gonna be Passan/Woj/Rapaport level that you have to consistently have reputable sources giving you info. If all of a sudden an up-and-coming reporter reveals they were BS-ing a couple of big stories and popped off as a result of getting lucky they'd probably lose some credibility. I just think the higher end should be held to the same standards, if not more so. Again, I'm happy to be proven wrong here.

Aaron did say something at the Kentucky derby about how he didnt like this got out means something is going on. How long would Roger's wanna hang out if this didnt break? We won't know. But with Aaron's contract, cap space, and his replacement already there...the packers trading aaron would give green bay an opportunity to stock up on draft picks. Wait any longer, his trade value will decrease as the time left to play window closes. After all, it's all a business and you build teams through the draft.

Yeah. I understand what you’re saying but here’s the thing. If someone says that they want to stay in the organization that drafted them for their entire career, then I would assume that they are telling the truth. But if somehow, things don’t work out (like the contract negotiation) then I can’t blame them if they leave. I personally think that Rodgers wants to stay (like how he said so on the show with Pat and the crew) but if the Packers can’t negotiate a deal with Rodgers, then it’s likely that Rodgers is going somewhere else. I am ok with this because it’s not like he wanted to get out of the Packers organization for so many years like how the media is protrayjng it. But what has led up to this conversation involving his department is actually a lack of respect and support for Aaron Rodgers over the years from the front office. I think Rodgers is unduly criticized for a lot of reasons.

I’m surprised there hasnt been more mistakes or made up speculation passed off as real news multiple times in the past. When it comes to baseball FAs signing I remember seeing reporters getting wrong information from sources just making it up but this is a lot different

@@wanghiskhan7345 since we are on the outside, we dont know for sure what's going on. I've been on football teams before, and we had internal issues but we were a really good team outside looking in. Won 3 out of last 4 championships. So, as fans, we dont really know all factors involved but based off being traded enough info is there to say there was problems enough to draft a qb, and shop Wentz around for draft stock to an old coach on a another team.

It’s a tough situation. My household will never be the same my dad is a lifelong packer and he’s old I’m young and I am too but I’m a massive Aaron Rodgers fan so I was defending Rodgers and my dad was defending the packers lol

What gets to me the most about this is how Schefter described it--"an accumulation." No one told him that Rodgers wanted out. He looked at all these stories he'd gathered over several months, and jumped to the conclusion that these meant Rodgers wanted out, and then took it upon himself to announce as much to the world at the worst possible time for both sides.
The whole thing was manufactured.
Thank you Pat for standing in the fire and seeking out the truth I've been saying this since Adam released this story Ofcourse they've had problems but releases this on draft day was not a Rodgers move. I hope when the dust settles and the organization does what their supposed to do that Rodgers can speak his truth since he's been dragged by all these so called Packers fans without knowing the full story.
