Just one more reason why Larry is the legend.
DJ was clutch too...
Facts!
DJ is clutch! Can’t sleep on him!
DJ was definitely saving the Celtics in the clutch
3:46 - That's Klay's dad, Mychal Thompson!
Bird, McHale and Ainge commonly used to bet during practice, and occasionally this spilled into games. There was one game when Ainge was bet that he couldn't get to the line 15 times, being primarily a jump shooter. He drove into the paint again and again during that game and ended up with 13 free throws (thus barely losing the bet). It is recounted by multiple sources that Bird was bet that he couldn't hit a Lefty 3-pointer, and did so in his second attempt in practice (though I have never seen filmed footage of it), thereby winning that bet. He also at least once hit an eyes-closed 3 in practice in order to win a bet. I watched Bird practice at Brandeis University late in his career (I spoke to Rick Fox regularly, who was a rookie on that team), and they (though not really Bird at that point) would often do H-O-R-S-E-like shooting displays with one another after the official practices ended.
Bird always said DJ was the best he ever played with e even went as far as to say DJ made him better.
This was a great game. Funny thing after in the Celtics locker room.... Coach K.C. Jones was not too happy with Larry Bird's left hand game. He said, " We coulda won this game in regulation, and Larry would still have scored 45 if he didn't resort to that left hand nonsense he was doing." LOL 🤣😂
😅 if you’re the coach, what can you really say to Larry… it’s Larry
How many points gig Larry Bird score left handed, Bird posted 47 points,14 rebounds, and 11 assists- the most massive of his ten triple--doubles that season, shot 21 of 34 (62 %) from the field
Love your reaction man! More Larry Legend please!
Thanks! I got you
Back in the US circa 1985, they would say 'wolverine' when a player made an outside shot. It was an homage to the film Red Dawn.
Oh ok… didn’t know that… I was so confused
Bird did say he'd shoot everything left handed EXCEPT long jumpers and dunks "at least through three quarters." Afterwards he said "well, left handed was one thing, but when the game got close I had to go back to the right." Depending on who you ask, he scored anywhere from 22 to 27 points left handed in 3 quarters.
That’s so disrespectful to the other team that it’s hilarious lmao
yo Great game. Good commentating.. I was crackin up
😅appreciate you
Marc, I love your channel. Who's your top 5 of all time?
Thanks… #1 Jordan, #2 LeBron, #3 Kareem, #4 Bird, #5 Kobe… but 4 and 5 are always changing
There's an interview somewhere wherein Dominique says that in the 60 point game against the Hawks, Bird did his jumper left-handed 3 times.
Huh?! Now I’ve never even heard of that one… that’s wild
@@MarcTheSparcTV
I’ve watched that entire game & as much as I’d love to be able to say Larry did that, I didn’t see it. That’s not to say definitively that he didn’t, I just didn’t see it. I’d believe ONE for sure….perhaps Dominique embellished a little. It is a common storytelling element 🤷♀️
@@irishgrl I still have my Larry Bird DVD with 3 of his greatest games, 1986 Gm6 Finals, Duel with Nique & 60pt game vs Hawks, and I don't remember seeing Bird shoot jumpers with his left hand.
55 is Kiki Vandeweghe was a UCLA Legend
Larry said left handed except for jump shots
Still a crazy game… the fact that it was close and he was still using his left was wild
Jerome Kersey was in a couple dunk contests, never won
Nice! I used to dominate on the little nerf hoop in dunk contest against my cousins lol
@@MarcTheSparcTV I was too poor for the nerf hoop, my brothers and I used a metal hanger that we curved into a circle.......NO net!!!!!!!!!
Bird did not play the entire game left handed.
He played it when he could and scored 22 points left handed and 47 points overall.
Bird also had a triple double 14 rebounds, 11 assists and 47 points.
It also was an overtime game the Celtics won by 1 point.
Yeah it’s crazy that he was still shooting left handed with the game so close
@@MarcTheSparcTV
Bill Walton states that Larry played left handed for 3 quarters then switched to the right in the 4th. He also said Larry had 27 left handed points…Larry himself said when it got close he went back to right handed. As was already mentioned, Coach KC Jones was annoyed with Larry for causing the game to go into overtime with his shenanigans. Still, like you said…it was Larry. Whaddya gonna do?
he didn't play the whole game left handed and he almost lost the game and he IS left handed, he eats and writes left handed
not whole game just most of it lefty
Yeah a smooth 25 points lefty
