Honestly, semi-auto/full-auto weapons are some impressive feats of engineering. For all those moving parts to work so well as it is feels like a miracle already.

@@EsOoBaCtvp In addition to that, though, I'm going to go out on a limb and say the G3 is more robust design that will continue working long after the FAL in the places where such rifles are still likely to see use. I mean, even the Israelis found the FAL wanting in desert conditions, and I'm sure they took care of them.

@@Intotheabyss1967 , i know what i am talking about and you too, but you are saying that out of unability to acknowledge Kalashnikov's success. I know that you are too degenerated to change yoir opinion even after fully legitimate arguments, but i will say one more time that Ak and Stg are using completely different locking principles (Ak is much closer to Garand and Stg is closer to SKS) while FAL not only uses the same locking principle but its parts are almost identical dimensionally to these of SVT-40. I know it's too difficult for you to understand, but there's still hope. Also i recommend watching Forgotten weapons video on that subject.

I think what you're asking for is the rod that pushes the bolt assembly back. That's the piston from the gas system. If you're talking about the "Stick" thing hanging on the side of the rifle that is the carrying handle,

    • @davidb6730
