None of these are auto tuned. It’s just studio recording verses normal recording.
There was no autotune in the 90's in Indian film songs. Kumar Sanu is such a legendary singer. He never used autotune in the 90's

Tuning voices is one of the tricks of the trade used by mixing engineers, who are one kind of Sound Engineers; there are many kind of Sound Engineers: it is a broad term, like Doctor/Engineer etc..there are many kinds of Sound Engineers working in various industries..
80% of India doesn't know the difference. Autotune has become the general definition for any altering to acapella
I attended live concert of Kumar Shanu da in 2017 and the voice is same as 90s... I was astonished....

they are not autotuned...there is some confusion between acapella and studio versions. these singers can sing at the drop of hat and they still come to reality singing competitions and sing in a moments notice - never autotune

Feel so blessed that these guys were my first exposure to bollywood and my entire childhood. Also Korbin is right, I'm not sure how many of these were actually autotuning vs fine tuning just to make it sound more like a song.
Sonu nigam and Ali zafar for me are the most versatile singers for me in recent times. they can play with their pitch magically

The song showed for Kumar Sanu actually sang by Amit Kundu, another legendary singer. Kumar Sanu sang the same song but was picturised on Said Ali Khan. The song picturised on Sunny was sang by Amit Kumar.
Listen to Anuradha Paudwal who is senior most of this gen. She is 68 and sounded flawless at Indian Idol 2021 episode. She sang a 32 year old song (Dil hai k manta nahi) and it was like replaying her own tape.

I think it's not auto tuned.. it sounds more like their voice and their voice in a studio
Nowadays a lot of digital sounds are been used which are so accurately pitched so the spectrum of accuracy has became shorter for the singer. Hence their voice needed to be autotuned to match with the digital sounds to cover the human errors.
Whereas in old songs, there were live recordings with live instruments that are played and no digital sounds. Hence the tuning of these instruments are not very accurate due to human errors or othwr environmental factors. Hence the spectrum of accuracy is broadened for the singers in that time. Hence no need of autotune was required for them..

None of these are really autotuned. I think the only different is that one is just the voice raw while the other has music, recorded in studio. Im not sure that autotune existed in the 90s.....and these guys def dont need it.

Talk about belting of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and KK, if you listen you can observe former goes thin and shrill and completely goes into head voice while latter remains in mix of chest and head voice with the sound still going strong and thick with bass. Hope I made sense.
I think the point of the video was to say that these singers didn’t need auto tune and they basically sound the same with or without it. 😂 I understand how it could be misleading though.

Yea here is musical perspective though, singing without autotune is a talent but in modern music auto tune is very important. Auto tune isn't a bad thing, Legends like Kanye, Kendrick plays with auto tune. But yea when this was recorded there was no autotune but even if they used it, it's better!
