This song essentially started me off on the amazing experience of believing on Jesus and that he sacrificed for me and suffered a tremendous amount. I played it randomly and had never heard it, though I liked the album it was from. With the first words of the song, I thought “that’s weird. Everything else I’ve heard from this album sounded like Eastern spirituality.” I had come to believe in God almost 6 years earlier, having been agnostic and eventually becoming more cynically so. It was very exciting to have come to believe in Him, but I did not pray that much, or seek to find the answer to "Well, who is this God who came to me?" On and off I would meditate and I got into Eastern spirituality, all of which I'm very grateful for and I am seeing more and more that God has and does and trust He will use, well, all my past, my spiritual seeking and even my conscious sins, for His purposes. He can do that for you, too. If God can get through to me, I promise. He can get through to anyone. Okay back to the story. While listening to this song... I then thought “Go and ask your roommate who is Christian what his favorite Gospel is, and read the Bible like you’ve been saying you're going to.” He said John, and I started reading his KJV Bible. I read it slowly, and I liked it. I felt like I “got it” in some amorphous undercurrent kind of way, but I also knew that I didn’t get it. Or that there was so much more to get. I got halfway through the first page, maybe 15-20 verses, before we had to take a drive to pick up a large order of the product we sold at the time. On the way there, I thought “let’s send up a prayer to Jesus,” though I didn’t really believe in Him or think about Him much. I’d done this before a few times, mostly at the suggestion of the same roommate, asking God to reveal Himself, etc. But this time, I thought I’d ask for help with something I’d been struggling with. But then I heard a thought - "Don’t ask for help; ask for forgiveness." Before I could even collect myself to do that.. WHOOOSH from what felt like the top right of the windshield. A blast of spiritual energy and an immediate conviction / understanding that Jesus Christ had sacrificed Himself greatly; that His sacrifice cost Him and was painful. I burst out crying at the same time. The rest of the 15-minute drive were just a conversation with God in ecstatic disbelief, though disbelief is probably the wrong word lol. I was just dumbfounded and amazed at what was happening. Every time I turned my head, my eyes would immediately land on a church steeple. I got to the UPS store, still emotional, and told my roommate and hugged him. He said “Wow, sounds real, man!” And it was! I’m sad to say I have struggled mostly on and off with obstinate sin, but with Jesus and especially the last two years reverting to His Catholic Church (which is my favorite thing in the world. I was baptized Catholic as an infant.) I know there is always hope! May God bless and guide everyone reading this in their very hearts, all the people they pray for or love, and all those who pray for and love us. Peace. But ultimately, we (I say we because we all are sinners) don't take away from the Truth.
