@TheWordIsMarc They can find a way to do it. For example the Vincent Corleone story can take place somewhere between 2000 and 2005, 20/25 years after the events of GF3, if they are gonna do it within 5 years, it will come out 30/35 years after the release of the third. They could make Andy García younger with technique they used in the Irishman.
They planned a fourth one, where Vincent involves the Family in narcotics, which leads to their downfall. Coppola said he'd do it; so did Garcia, Puzo, and every other major actor whose character didn't die yet. Mario Puzo died about ten years ago, though.

@connorhtanime They thought of it, but the death of Mario Puzo mad it impossible. They conceived a plot where the Corleone family had plunged into corruption and death, due to Vincenzo's ruthless leadership. I prefer it ended this way, because it is my opinion that even though Michael Corleone was a fierce Don in part II, the real essence of the Corleone family is not a essence of evil. You simply can't depict evil in Vito Corleone.
We all know that Vito preferred Michael, but he didn't Michael to follow his steps. This is shown in the novel and in the film as well. In the scene of the first film where Michael is talking to Vito after he became the new boss, Vito explains to Michael that he didn't want him to become Don, but it had to happened since there was no choice. You can see Vito had differents plans for Michael other than making him Don in the last scene of the second film.
Sonny would've become Don. He was not dumb like Fredo, he really knew the family business, he had a tough character. He was not going to let been stepped over like Fredo did. Mario Puzo knew this, that's why he got Sonny killed in the novel and in the film, because it was the only way Michael could have been Don.
I like the film and even love parts of it. ALL the scenes with Vincenzo were amazing even if the film itself is less successful plotwise than the first two.
I love this film, I don't get why people slate it so much. It isn't as good as the first one obviously, sequels never are. But I love this scene, it sends a powerful message that the family is crumbling apart, Michael just can't take it anymore so he hands the role of don to Vince. Now, looking back, Vito would have never let Sonny become don, but Michael does despite Vince's temper. It bought me to tears, one of so many elements throughout the film that signify it's conclusion
@SPeacock Thats true it was going to follow Vincent and the Corleone Family 1997 ( Michales death) to 2005 becuase it was planned that Vincent whould die in a Drugs bust and the Corleone Family whould fall apart with flashbacks like how Sonny became involved etc
Coppola and Puzo (or only Coppola, I can't remember) were actually thinking about the Godfather IV. Vincenzo would be the main character, but he would "destroy" famiglia because of business with drugs ;)
This is how I think The Godfather III should've went. Remove the Vatican plot and leave Kay out of the story. Having lost contact with his son Anthony, elderly Michael is in need of a heir to the family business. Michael meets Vincent, and soon takes him under his wing to hopefully groom him as the new don of the Corleone family. Vincent also meets Mary and they have a close bond (ONLY as cousins ofc). After an attempt is made on Michael's life which puts him in hospital, Vincent steps up as the head of the family and investigates into who orchastrated the hit. Pure and simple premise. Tom Hagen is once again consigliere, and Connie takes care of Michael instead of having a position in the family's criminal activities which makes better sense. Mary is still killed in the end, which devastates Vincent and becomes a ruthless cold blooded don like his uncle.
Reuben Filimaua dude ur like an Amateur yet u made a better scripts than the professional group that made the movie I should've been the writer and director for the movie

@connorhtanime They where going to. Half the film was to be about Vincent's fall from power. Then other have was to be about a younger version of Sonny's rise to power. But mario puzo died when they where still in the early stages of the script.

Mario Puzo knew this, that's why he got Sonny killed in the novel and in the film, because it was the only way Michael could have been Don.
Michael's hair threw me off throughout the whole movie
I like the film and even love parts of it. ALL the scenes with Vincenzo were amazing even if the film itself is less successful plotwise than the first two.
Andy Garcia was brilliant in this movie. I wish there could have been a Godfather 4 centered around his character.
This was the worst decision he could 've taken , knowing very well that Vincent was a hot head .
A greatest actor Garcia
I love this film, I don't get why people slate it so much. It isn't as good as the first one obviously, sequels never are. But I love this scene, it sends a powerful message that the family is crumbling apart, Michael just can't take it anymore so he hands the role of don to Vince. Now, looking back, Vito would have never let Sonny become don, but Michael does despite Vince's temper. It bought me to tears, one of so many elements throughout the film that signify it's conclusion
beautiful sonny's boy, a great movie the conclusion connie in toral control of the family in her mum's place, very italian
I think by the end he didn't care. Vincent wanted the throne so bad but doesn't really know what comes with it. Michael was like here have it.
Vito did plan to make Sonny the don, as told by Vito in the garden to Michael.
He'll be a great Don.
'Just needs to remember not to bite anyone's ears off.
@SPeacock Thats true it was going to follow Vincent and the Corleone Family 1997 ( Michales death) to 2005 becuase it was planned that Vincent whould die in a Drugs bust and the Corleone Family whould fall apart with flashbacks like how Sonny became involved etc
this was probs my favourite in the trilogy...espicially this scene!
What a beautiful creature - Vincent Corleone!
Coppola and Puzo (or only Coppola, I can't remember) were actually thinking about the Godfather IV. Vincenzo would be the main character, but he would "destroy" famiglia because of business with drugs ;)
Worth a Godfather 4, I think.
Reuben Filimaua I
Genius
Reuben Filimaua That would have been the better film!
Reuben Filimaua dude ur like an Amateur yet u made a better scripts than the professional group that made the movie I should've been the writer and director for the movie
I like the idea of Connie being involved in that thing of theirs. But everything else you bring up was legit.
The PASSING OF THE TORCH...
It seems fitting, that Sonny's son would lead the family.
Sonny would be proudl
.
Vincent was very close to Michael and saved his life in the Alantic City Don Convention scene when Tony Sausa tried to assassinate them...Vincent was the obvious choice...
@connorhtanime They where going to. Half the film was to be about Vincent's fall from power. Then other have was to be about a younger version of Sonny's rise to power. Both stories would cut into each other. The idea was showing a good man become bad, and a bad man become good at the same time. But mario puzo died when they where still in the early stages of the script.
This is called " truly hard earned "
three cheers for vincent!
Richard Bright was killed by a city bus in New York City.
