Personally, I will be taking away A LOT of positivity from this video myself. I really wanted to make a full video which tells the story of an RLC member from the UK who set a timer on his phone ready to snipe a Hot Wheels release that I know everyone in the diecast community was very excited to get their hands on to add into their diecast collection.
After placing my initial order online I then patiently waited a total of 17 days for my RLC car to make the long overseas journey to me. In this video diecast collector viewers have be warned that what arrived with me will shock you.

Mattel literally don't give a damn. On more than one occasion I've placed orders and they haven't even arrived.
No way! Did the cars ever show up dude? Which ones did you buy? It’s just soooo disappointing that we pay a membership fee to just feel like the level of care in packing orders isn’t there. If you watch literally any other of my unboxing videos those things are close to home proof! Happy I opened mine. Unhappy I have to feel worried the next time I want something… not great hey. I remember the good old days of Hot Wheels having opening hoods/bonnets in mainline... doesn't really surprise me they have put it in $40 cars these days. I own a Charger and Camaro with opening hood, nice little feature.
Nice man. Those are absolute classics too. I remember when super treasures weren’t a thing and you could get a mustang TH with the opening good. Another epic casting for sure. Shame many of them have now been retooled and that feature taken away. The Advan Skyline goes hard and I’m super happy I got to open mine. But yeah. Super pricey now for opening doors and such. That chase camaro in vintage racing club is great. I hope Hot wheels will release more Camaros this year. Did you pick up this skyline yourself mate? Its extremely disappointing when your csrs arrive like this.... Down here in New Zealand to land a RLC including purchase is around $90 NZ. I wish RLC would make the effort when it comes to packaging!

Learning about all the different prices from around the global is super interesting to me. 90 is huge bro for a 25 dollar car. That’s £43 for me and here I am moaning about having to pay £34 / $70NZD… I grabbed myself the G wagon and it’s likely I will be reporting on its journey in another video when it arrives. I had a lot of fun making this one and it also feels like ALL Hot Wheels collectors are talking more openly about RLC quality / pricing and shipping. I was chatting to another collector and Mattel are changing the shipping box this year apparently. We’ll have to see. The trouble is… I don’t like the RISK when I order an RLC car…. but I love the REWARD… how long have you been collecting for mate? Any favourite castings in particular?
Custom, I can't tell you how much this video helped me out! My RLC Advan Skyline also came in terrible shape, and I'm about two states away from where they are shipped on the East Coast here in the US. The rear window was all beat up around the edges, the blister card edges were also scuffed, and there was a random gunky splotch right above the image of the vehicle. That splotch has only grown since I received the vehicle. Looks like someone didn't wash their hands while packing or inspecting. 😬 I tried to remove it with a bit of Dawn, but that only made it worse. 🙈 In your honor, I'm gonna crack it open. I managed to locate the Advan MBK Van, so I've got a couple I can toss in the Advan garage I ordered from AliExpress just now -- which I'd also like to thank you for pointing out! This will be my first display ever. 🙌
Yooooo! Ah man, that’s truly a horror story I wasn’t prepared for reading. Ouch! I’ve had that before where the card looks like someone at the factory took it on their lunch break to look at 😂 reading that you scored a display and that you’re going to make an epic collection of Advan beauties has truly made my day bro. Go for it! Andddd you’ll get to see the opening good for yourself which looks awesome displayed open. Super happy this video inspired you dude. That’s amazing and makes all the hours of editing and filming worthwhile. I hope I didn’t start something though as those displays goes hard and they’re inexpensive really. I’m having fun adding more and more to my studio and we be making another video in the future about other displays. Oh, and before I go. I never had a shipping problem with the RLC. Web site problems, YES! I noticed a lot of RLC cars are distributed from Pennsylvania and I live in NJ. They don't have far to go. They are also shipped via FedEx in the US. I think the overseas shipping is what damaged your package. It's unfortunate. Try writing a complaint letter to Mattel and see if they can package overseas orders better.
You’re lucky man and I’m pleased to learn you aren’t worried about shipping. That’s a nice place to be. Thanks for the great insight. Do you also get shipped one bag of air? Or even nothing at all? I’m super friendly with the courier that handed me the package so I know it wasn’t her. It must have been on its journey overseas to the UK. Either way. It’s still an issue I wanted to raise in this video and anyone can fall victim to a similar situation to me. No one is immune. I’m just mostly sad because ALL Diecast collectors who buy things even off eBay know that the seller will try their best and 9 times out of 10 the package arrive bomb proof!! Haha. I know I'm rare when it comes to HWs collecting, but it is reasons like this that I only buy mainlines. Way too much money to get sorely disappointed.
You’re not wrong dude. It’s so expensive to pick up cars like the skyline and it’s impossible to know what happens to that small brown box on its overseas journey. Sorry to see this happened to you lad. I can’t say I had a problem with the shipping but I understand your frustration. It’s like why do we even pay shipping if there is a chance it will arrive like yours did
Savage right? Although, wow, I’m seeing so many messed up McLaren F1s showing up online from other collectors covered in glue and finger prints and with the headlight tampos slipping all over the place! I did order the G wagon so let’s see if it can make it to me in better shape. I really do hope so as I love my RLC collection. Only buying what I really like. You are very very lucky to have never experienced any problems. I’ve heard from collectors who live in the next state over getting wrecked products too. Mattel need to step up their packaging game for sure. Especially because if we buy something online from a wholesaler website and even stuff from eBay they arrive close to bomb proof lol! I’ve never received any air bags in the boxes. It’s always just the item with no protection, but was lucky so far, my last damaged item was 2 yrs ago..
I also open most of them anyway so not too bothered..
But them headlights are really bad 😅, even worse in hand imo.

I’m reading comments here now from collectors saying that Mattel are changing the box that they ship out RLC cars so I’ll be keeping an eye on that. This is why all my rlc cars are open, I live 2 hours away from where they ship in Pennsylvania and pretty much everytime shows up damaged.

@@customcollects I would say yours showed up in better shape than mine. I have a few dioramas I display my cars in and a 50 car display case from hot wheels. Edit to add I have 2 on pre order now, the club car and the Elite64 Datsun so we will see how yhey show up later on this year.
Nice man! Sounds like a good set up. The wheels on the McLaren really bother me lol and I’m annoyed that the Datsun doesn’t get side mirrors! If it had mirrors I would have bought 2! I still like it but as I spend so much on cars anyway I’m trying to be good and only buy what I like. Not just getting the hype. Because over drove launched us collectors will see RLC cars and similar ramped up in 2024 for sure. Keeping my fingers crossed for some more BMWs. @@customcollects The Datsun looks decent from the couple photos I have seen, I will have to sit down and actually check out the photos of it for the small details.
I just collect what I like which mainly is Gassers, Chevy trucks and some Jdm stuff, brand doesnt really matter although I really do like Kaido House and M2 brands.
Yeah, i kept hearing about situations with the damaged card and i hope I won't get the same, although so far it won't happen because I can't try for another one with the International shipping issues ...

Definitely very tricky to get our hands on some of the more desirable releases for sure mate. You get a lot of get sealed cases unboxed on your channel so I hope your friends can help you with some RLC cars too. After searching high and low I’m still looking for a full set the of the silver series Porsches. Hopefully they will be added to my collection one day. I feel bad that your RLC purchase arrived with damage. I live in the US & I've had a couple of issues with Mattel deliveries but nothing that bad. The first issue from Mattel was an RLC delivery that arrived with the tape cut & the second had no tape at all, thankfully my orders were intact. My worst diecast delivery horror was my first Kaido House BLKLTD that came in a box that looked as though it had been run over. Everything in the box was damaged but not to the point of totally ruined. Yes, Mattel needs to step up their shipping game and couriers need to be a lot more careful.
Very well said mate. And wow! No tape on the box is just wild! It’s a shame because I know I’ll buy another RLC release this year but I hate knowing that how it arrives with me will be a gamble. I mean come on Mattel. Just a little bit of bubble wrap and some packing peanuts would help so much. 9 out of 10 orders I make online from wholesalers and even eBay seller send me things and they look bomb proof! Haha. Thanks man! Appreciate the support. I had two timers on. My phone and my iPad were both on team Advan Skyline. I’m also considering the G wagon bro. Looks crazy in that blue colour for sure. The tyres go hard too. If you can snipe a good deal on the good old secondary eBay scalper market for the skyline bro and you have some other premium cars I can’t recommend having that skyline in your collection enough. Another great casting my friend,i heard and seen that mattel has changed the shipping boxes recently to ones that aint just held with a single piece of tape as for the internal packing will have to wait and see what the beetle or f1 will come in

You're lucky only damaged package. I ordered , on 2 seperate occasions, from RLC club. One box showed up empty. All I got was a patch. One the other order I got the wrong car. Never got the car I ordered.
That’s so wild dude! Wow. Did the box which had absolutely nothing inside even have some tape on the box? Other collectors telling me their boxes don’t even have a sealed box. That’s insannnnneee!! lol. Mattel are risk takers to the max. Very frustrating for us collectors. Even though I’m reading online that most US collectors will skip the G wagon. If you’re a real European like me then you know the G63 is a beast just like the C63 and E63! Calling the G wagon a hard pass is wrong. Please pray for the safety of my RLC purchase and I’m sure I’ll make a video about it when the car finally arrives with me in a week or 2. Which country are you in mate? @@customcollects the tape on the first box was pinched on the end. It looked like a little handle so you can open it. Second box looked ok, but when I opened it. It was the wrong car. I was suppose to get the Datsun Z. If I want one. I have to go aftermarket and pay twice as much. I live in California. About an hour from Mattel HQ.
@@ernietrott3529 that’s so hectic man wow! You even live in the same country and your orders got messed up pretty bad. I’m gonna have to let you know how I get on with this g wagon but like I said in the video. As a UK collector I’m in £34 each time a car sells for 25 bucks. 34 is about $42 but I understand the car has to go through customs and I gotta cover some additional taxes along the way. Wish you better luck with you other purchases. I have a feeling 2024 is gonna be a good year for RLC with the release of over drive. Mattel are gonna want to prove that it’s worth the 99 dollars for sure. Great chatting with you
Absolutely shocking. I sell loads on ebay and I always do a superb job. How can a company charge such money knowing fine well we are collector geeks...and pack like that!!! That one bit of tape was the only thing preventing the contents from falling out. They really don't give a dam do they.
I also thought this exact same thing. When I purchase cars from eBay, or anywhere else in fact. The packages I receive are like miniature tanks! @customcollects do you know I've been toying (no pun) on if I should sign up to the club or not. 🤔 I'm tempted as the pickings are so slim around where I am that I think i spend more on travel than actual cars. At least with the club the opportunity to own nice collectable or desirable pieces are there.

If you think it’s meh then another RLC drop is only around the corner. I'm ok and in safe place, living on west part of Ukraine. While there isn't as much destruction caused by the Russians here as in other territories, we do have air raid alerts almost every day.
I moved out of the country for some time, but now I'm back home. Hope all of this terrible things ends soon and we can continue all our hobbies safely.

I'd consider it a broken toy. You don't purchase the car alone. The WHOLE toy consists of the Art Card, the blister AND finally the car.
It's a defective toy. Apply return policy and demand refund or replacement.
You’re right to feel passionate about this issue bro. Right now. Today. I’m happy to move on with my life and like I said in the video. Mattel just destroyed the tiny bit of thought that I had for keeping mine mint on card. I’m not afraid to open anything as I’ve been collecting for years and from the very beginning open stuff is the best part. Cars look wildly different unboxed as I’m sure you know for yourself too. The main issue here is just the lack of effort. I’m sure Mattel have pockets deep enough to slide a couple of sheets of bubble wrap and a handful of packing peanuts in for their paying members who are very used to receiving online orders sent with care by sellers. Most of the things I buy on eBay arrive with me and I’d consider them bomb proof! lol. Hope you enjoyed this one mate. My final closing comments at the end are very much directed towards you mate. Crazy right? I know that you’re very used to all of my unboxing videos so why are Mattel themselves sending customs products even without the bag of air too. Very dangerous. In my case, I don't own a single RLC yet since I'm not working yet hahahaha, I also don't want to spend that much money for now, maybe in a future RLC that I like a lot I will try.
On situations like these is why I'm so glad I collect them opening them. Even if I keep the card because I like how it looks, at least it won't hurt to us as much as a close collector to have the blister so smashed.
Nice man! I hope you can get into RLC in the future. That BMW M3 RLC release with the opening doors is crazy! Love mine the most. There’s a blue one too but the wheels aren’t so impressive. I’ve always been opening mine since I was a kid and I do truly understand collections that are 85% in their packaging. Ever car looks infinitely different outside of the box. You can’t really see the true beauty in a blister. Or maybe I’m going to start paying the eBay tax so I have own two RLC releases open and with the card art haha. Nice chatting with you dude. Hello mate. Yes of course. RUclips has a great discord integration. I was thinking about doing memberships races in the future where people can pick 4 cars and I’ll add them to a video. I’d really enjoy seeing what other people wanted to race head to head. All in good time bro. I work hard and of course I’d like to make Instagram and tik tok and spend time on that but I’m just focusing making the best long form videos that I can whilst the channel in so new. Yes, 110% agree 🤝 I’ve always opened cars with my dad and I wouldn’t enjoy this hobby as much if I was just hoarding unopened product. Cars look infinitely different outside of the packaging.
