I've said it before and I'll say it again, watching Tim teach should be required viewing for music education majors. The explanation and demonstration skills remind me of one of the great guitar educators - Howard Roberts.
Just your mention of the dim chord being a half step below the root, was an epiphany to me. Thanks, that was a wonderful take away from this lesson. I will look up your books. All the best, Thor!
Wow ...I'm glad I watched this 3 minutes something video ...I'm sure I have several weeks of practice in this little bit ...thanks ...now I have to get the new book... a must!
Such a lovely sounding passage on 1:57! I stumbled upon your channel not so long ago and I really like your method, Tim. It almost feels like you're taking inspiration in Zen philosophy. No rushing, keeping things simple, everything is enough. And, most importantly, enjoying the process. While jazz players tend to overcomplicate things to the point where this becomes a competitive sport you present much more joyous and rewarding approach.
Awesome lesson, as always. I love that guitar - it sounds "brighter" than usual - but those Lollar Christians (I think that's what they are) always sound great! I asked Santa to bring me both of your books. Looking forward to checking them out!
Can't wait to play around with this idea (in various inversions). Your latest book is on my Christmas list and I'm pretty sure Santa has already wrapped it for me!
Some of Tim’s chord phrase examples in his book are played beyond the 14th fret, so if you have a traditional jazz box where the neck is attached at the 14th fret, you may not be able to play them.
But most of them aren’t :, ) the other thing to keep in mind is that if you really want to study the material in the book you should transpose your favorite passages into many other keys so as to get the most out of the things you learn.
I have 2 new TrueFire course that just came out both are Jazz Blues oriented. I posted this lesson on my TF channel Solo Guitar Sensei. And there is a section in my new book Melodic Chord Phrases (amazon)

Viva Barry Harris! Monk! Bird! And all the progenitors who illuminated this gem through the language of jazz.
That flamey neck and those Charlie Christian pickups, what a beauty. She rings like a bell. Sweet playing too.
Anyway you could provide the TAB for the Dm(maj 7) and Dm6 chords you played at around 0:30?
Thanks!
Dmin/maj7 x5322x Dmin6 x5320x
Just got the book for Xmas! Looking forward to diving in.
Straight to the point and super useful. Thanks, Tim!
Static fanatic...
Sublime! I have ordered the book for my birthday. :)
Is that a fender custom guitar?? Cool pickups
double CC! A “Nashville Charlie” or a “Charlie Nashville”?

Yes! Things recently "clicked " for me after decades of trying to wrap my mind around how to realy play the guitar, it is all about movement
You're pretty good ain't you! 😂
Thanks Tim. Keep 'em coming.

This C# diminished and Dm has very east-european sad songs vibes :)
When I’m prepping for a rehearsal, I refer to your videos to find spices missing from my playing. Outstanding channel and resource!
Love your lessons! And your book is amazing!
What a gold mine. Thank you Tim.

Great playing and lesson! I'm wondering how you are recording your guitar, it sounds great! Thx, Greg
I put a Senheiser 906 in front of a Princeton reverb
