Thank you Julie! I feel like plenty of people can do the number thing better than I do. I'd rather take you on a journey with me. Thank you so much for watching and commenting!
I couldn't agree more. I really enjoy your commentary and description of color. That's not an easy task. By the way, my birthstone is garnet but I have grown to love peridot and wear them anyway!
I love all of your videos we learn so much from them. You said you grew up in Hong Kong, was your dad in the military? You seem like you’ve travel to so many cool places and you also know a lot of cool history. What was it like growing up in hong Kong? You always seem to have great story’s too.
A. Gallo are incredible pigments. Hardest thing is don’t save them for “good” - enjoy them, relish and adore them, as they are joy on paper! And I love the stories behind the pigments. What a treat!
I'm watching you swatch while sitting on the couch with hubby next to me(earbuds in, and he's flipping out, that I'm watching you paint circles and not listening to him or the television.😂😂 way to funny for us artists!!
Love your diverse vocabulary, visual descriptions and art history. I would like to see more art history woven into your videos as you really shine there. It is nice to feed our souls with precious gifts. Well deserved, I think.
I'm a new watercolor enthusiast and I love your channel. I'm lucky because I can afford good paints and paper. I just purchased this set because of your episode and how beautiful the paints are. Thank you for turning me on to A gallo.
miss m has humor, smarts, joy & the sassy vocal pronunciation in story telling magic everyone ought to have the opp to listen to... the actual painting process is how cherries & sprinkles make dessert extra...
So awesome to watch this video, it is truly the way I like colour best--bouncing off each other, ie., not just one colour alone, but several colors at once. Gorgeous, what beautiful palette! I really want it now, A Gallo really struck it out of the park hey? I cannot get over how buttery they look as you apply them. It's very cool to hear that you grew up in Hong Kong, but so sad at the same time, because I've been watching and hearing about what's been happening over there and what the government is getting up to. But I'll leave it there, I know that this is an art channel.
I am so excited to add this set of A. Gallo watercolor set. Oh my Gosh!! The colors are simply delicious and intense. I can hardly wait to have them iin my hands. You had me at Lemon yellow which is often muted from other manufactures. Each color more beautifu than the last.
I so enjoy hearing you talk about the history of different pigments. These are beautiful colors, and your informed enthusiasm really brings them to light
Lovely swatch-a-thin! 😂….I think in answer to your question about the cerulean blue hue, A Gallo are committed to avoiding toxic pigments, such as cadmium’s and cobalts in particular. That’s why it’s not the usual blue pigment.
I love your description of colors and the relation with artists of the past. And thank you for explain the olive green undertone skin, I finally understood the discription in the The Godfather book!!
yes, I'm a big fan of A Gallo watercolors! I have a 36 Naturale palette by combining their original Naturale with their new 12 Naturale 3 palette (That one would be great to add to your collection and they sell 12 sets and the 36 all at once!). I also have a customized signature palette of 26 colors that I also built out from a 12 signature set. The small six color palettes are also fun and I have the Natale and Landscape versions. If you get rid of Ivory Black and want a dark color, you might try their Vivianite, Dark Forest, or Indigo Green. If you want to go the more colorful direction, I'd recommend Pietro Rosa or Mineral Violet. Earth tones, Buff Titanium or grab a Quinacridone Chestnut before PR206 is gone. :). Their travel brushes are so useful and their accessories are beautiful like the handmade brush holder!
@@vanessacastagnoli1126 not to me. Light and pleasant and only really noticeable opening the palette after awhile closed but of course that’s for you to judge as your sensitivities are yours. Try buying a half pan from Jackson’s art to test it out for yourself if youre worried to test with a full palette😂. They are some of my favorite paints
I’m so glad you treated yourself to the A. Gallo 48 palette. It is a well deserved treat that has already brought you so much joy. It has also brought joy to others who are loving your swatching video. I’m waiting for an A. Gallo 24 palette to arrive today or tomorrow. Your video has made me even more excited about getting my hands on these gorgeous hand made paints.
I am an A Gallo fan, big time. I have nearly every color, been collecting for awhile. A few not in your palette that I love are Buckthorn Berry Green, Pietra Rosa, Dragon’s Blood and Indigo Green. The only colors I’ve used in the brand that I don’t absolutely love are the mixes with white… but that goes for all brands of paint. I’ve done a few paintings from a recent vacation and I find capturing natural scenes with these paints to be effortless. Congratulations on your birthday and excellent choice of gift. 🎉 Thanks for a great swatching video!
Love your swatches!!!completely agree with you…money well spent! I bought my 48 set back in 2021, and continue to love this Agallo palette. Have collected other palettes since 2021, and am consistently delighted with Agallo from A to Z. So happy to learn that you are adoring these paints. Look forward to more videos from you as always!❤️
Patty- I love listening to you swatch your paints. I don't own any A Gallo or Isaro paints. I would like to but can't really afford them. I do appreciate the quality of A Gallo and always enjoy viewing a swatching session of them. In your pallette, I have to say it was difficult to pick a favorite. I loved them all. Particularly the blues, my favorite color. Plus. I loved the history lesson as always. Thank you Margot. ❤️
Your descriptions of the colors and the history of the pigment are so refreshing. I am so happy to have found your channel and look forward to your content. New sub here :) Have a wonderful day!
Having just received my first A. Gallo watercolors it was a joy to watch this. I bought the signature 2 because it included ylnmn blue. I then ordered 12 of my own choice based on what I had seen on a few youtube channels. They arrived in such beautiful packaging it was a joy to open. I did put in the freezer first so didn't have any problems with gooeyness. Thanks for your delightful as always videos. You are my favorite youtube channel. xo
Hullo Margot, I have purchased a 12 color set from A.Gallo and I have a very particular color palette that I use and when I contacted them VIA e-mail they were wonderful to interact with! I had 2 greens removed and they even added 2 more 1/2 pans for a total of 14 colors for my A.Gallo palette! I did not think the added cost was prohibitive. I have enjoyed watching your presentation of their paints! (I looked for a comment from me as this is my 2nd time watching this video, but I am not finding it. Maybe I put it in someone’s comment as a reply?) Thanks again for sharing your thoughts with us!
Oh how delicious! 🤤 I have the signature 24 set with an additional 9 colours I grabbed with it. One of which was the Roman black earth for mixing granular colours and it doesn't disappoint. I am so so happy I got them. My favourites to paint with. And now I am so happy you have them too. I will grab a few more when I financially recover 😂 like the Ercolano Red & Morellone. I can't wait to see them in action, I just love your paintings. This video was very entertaining, as always. Thank you for sharing it with us and I hope you enjoy your new paints ❤🎉
I have quite a few A. Gallo palettes. Love their greens, all of them! I find the Slate Grey and the Lapis extremely hard to wet, their accessories are to die for!!
Boys oh boys this doesn't disappoint! Wow! I don't have a palette (yet) but I do have a couple of their pans and love them. I am in love with the Copper Blue.
I bought the naturals set this past spring and I am in love with my A. Gallo set. I’ve been spoiled for all other paints. I am saving for my next set and refills!
I love all of your videos we learn so much from them. You said you grew up in Hong Kong, was your dad in the military? You seem like you’ve travel to so many cool places and you also know a lot of cool history. What was it like growing up in hong Kong? You always seem to have great story’s too.
I just received the A Gallo 48 pan signature set as a belated birthday gift, and I can’t wait to swatch and paint with it. Thank you ever so much for the preview. You’re so right, this palette has everything!
I love the Pietra Rosa instead of Potters pink. Pietra Rosa with Buff Titanium and a touch of Medici Red or Morrocan Ochre are great skin tones. My favorite has to be the Meteroite Brown. I'm a space nerd and find painting with this color to be an experince best described as... out of this world ;-)
These watercolors are just stunning, Margot!!! Can't wait to see you paint with them! Your swatches are gorgeous - thank you for sharing them! I am in awe!!! 😮😀😍♥️
I’m soooo jealous! These look absolutely gorgeous. Unfortunately here in Australia, that set is going for over $600 before shipping costs, so I will have to wait a few years until my next milestone birthday (which will be 60 😢😅)
I put my own palette together after I got a few of their small collections. My favorites are Harbor blue and ruby red and indathathrone blue. Dark forest and dioxadine purple are high up there too.
I love the Copper Blue, the Pietra Rosa, the Morellone, the Quin Gold, and a couple that aren't in that particular set, like Forest. Fun to listen to your input and feelings about the palette.
I am going to get miine the next couple of days. I am really lookinf forward to this. They are going to be my third brand. Schmincke and VHaquarell. Schmincke ot of tradition for decades, and VHaquarell is a new discovery of a small German company also with honeybased handmade colours which are also very lovely.
Oh Margot, this is like a wet dream or paint p*rn. Now I want to to own a set even more. Looking forward to see you paint with it. Thanks for wetting my appetite even more❤
I can't wait to see the paintings you make with these! They should pay you for this video, since I'm positive they will make a lot of money from this. Do the really pigment dense areas dry shiny? It doesn't look like it, and that excites me! I love M Graham paint because of the large pigment load, but they do dry shiny. I like to paint sort of thicker, with deep color. Thank you for sharing this! ♥
I bought the olive green deep as a single colour when I bought a sketchpad from Jacksons. It is very pretty, but if it gets to watery it separates into blue and ochre looking pigments. The result is interesting, but not always what I ment to do. I find it a bit hard to use because of this, and now I am not so sure if I want to save up for more colours.
If it helps, I have the 12 pan Signature, and that’s the only colour in the palette that behaves that way, kind of granulating. Seems to be a property of the particular pigments in it.
It looks like a very cheerful palette. It's like the colors are smiling at you. If I worked wet I would want these. I wish they made colored pencils. I like all those colors. I do think it could use a few more yellows and pinks in that collection. That would be my only criticism. It's an uplifting palette.
I enjoyed this video. Please include art history in your videos. Also when you talk about colors and suggest where to use them, you are doing us all a great favor.
😍 They are stunning...but that's my electric bill and cell phone bill combined 😲 Lol. Maybe one day 😂 I watch all of your videos lol but I don't need to get the FOMO feelings at the moment 😂 I'll go watch a few of your older videos again to make up for it 😂
Wow that’s a gorgeous set of delicious colors!!! I have not tried A Gallo paints. Definitely something I would like to try. I have got the complete set of W&N Cotman Student Grade watercolors, a 25 set of The Art of Soil watercolors, a 5 tube set of Introductory Colors of MaimeriBlu Professional watercolors, the Urban Sketchers ) colors set of QOR watercolors & a 30 colors set of Sakura Koi watercolors. I just love 💕 colors in general. 😂
Hullo Margot, I have used these handmade paints and have my own custom selected colors in a nice 14 half pan set! You showed these richly pigmented off to amazing advantage! I am just a bit jealous of your enormous selections, so many wonderful colors with unmatched quality! I have quite a lower price range for my everyday paints. I found DaVinci Paints of California for my everyday professional grade paints. DaVinci are also richly pigmented and at a price most everyone who is looking for a professional grade paint can be satisfied with. I have tried most every brand in my 50 years of painting and while I have found some amazing paints to find an everyday paint that is so superior in most every category is a real find! This is how I feel about DaVinci. I was converted by Denise Soden, she is a truly phenomenal artist and she has had several curated sets with the DaVinci company. She has a wide range of videos right here on RUclips! Yes, I have purchased each and every one of them. My favorite is the Earth Friendly Palette. Something about paints that are not corrosive to me or our environment is a special quality not easily put together in a watercolor palette that is useful for any subject! I hope you give some a try real soon!
Margot, as I mentioned in part #1 of the, A. Galo: SWATCH -AVAGANZA, you are a MOST WELCOME breath of fresh air! I'm new to your club but glad to be a part. I'll reiterate. It's your style, diction, elegance in fashion as well brain power. Your love for history, science or simply ARTS WHOLE PACKAGE. And the elocution of words. Uhhh. You make a [one would assume] simple SWATCH FEST and turn it on its head. Transformation, sublimation, wordsmith, and pigment dominatrix. If I wasn't sold on A. GALLO before, which I wasn't. Not from any prejudices, but rather my lack of exposure to the brand. Well, now I am COMPLETELY SOLD. Honestly, that was hands & brushes down - the Sexiest and completely VISCERAL swatching peek-a-boo EVER! SO AMAZING, I CAN'T WAIT TO DROP SEVERAL HUNDRED USES myself now. Maybe after collecting my own 15 or so, of Michael Harding's Watercolor. I saw you had a tube of Harding watercolor. Do you have an easy answer as to which brand is your personal all around favorite. Hey, thanks again for such exquisitely done swatching. It's video's like this one I appreciate most. Highly informative, SMART and SEXY, believably enthusiastic, so emotionally telling...one would find impossible to fake! Xo James
Hi James! First I'd like to start by saying what a joy it is to *meet* you and I appreciate your insight, comments and presence on here! You are wonderful! And by the way, massive Alexander McQueen fan here too. He would be in my holy trinity alongside Mr Givenchy and Gianni Versace. Oh and Valentino, Tom Ford, Vivienne Westwood.. Oh I can't choose... There's too many... Anyway, I wanted to get back to you about Michael Harding. The few tubes I've tried from him have been out of this world. I can sense I'm going to be bad again... So my answer to your dilemma is that it really depends on the kind of painter that you are. If you love those light, airy washes like layers of chiffon, A Gallo will work well. If however, you're about pigment saturation and density that could rival an oil painting, Michael Harding will shake you to your very core. Let me know what you choose! Xo!
I don't own any artist grade water colours because they so expensive over here but I love living viscerally through youtube and your one of the channels I watch I hope to buy some of our own south African grade artist paints soon which is more affordable for me thanks for making fun interactive videos
@@enchantedcolours2023 Thank you for your reply. When I search for some I never find a brand (searching from Belgium, Europe). I've spend a lot of time in Zimbabwe before I got interested in watercolor and now I wish I'd looked around more for watercolors then. I bet your brands are good. Can you name some of them?
@KRCanetti we have dala watercolours mungyo we have windsor and Newton we also have schminke water colours we have montmart watercolours as well those are just a few but some of them can be very expensive
@@enchantedcolours2023 Thank you. Mungyo I have heard of. Dala not. The other are European brands so they are well known to me. I will look into Dala... Thank you for this information. I wish you lots of success with your watercolor practice.
I don't even know what to say! Those blues are beyond any color blue I've seen! These paints seem to display themselves! It looks like you're just touching the paper and there's a natural ombre tendency for the paint. Actually that's probably you, Margo, making it look so easy!
Speaking of Swatchavaganzas - I would love to know the red lipsticks you always wear! You rock cool and warm undertones, so clearly you've used some colour theory to match them well with your complexion 🥰
For all the hype and astronomical cost of these handmade paints, after watching this swatching session and finding out that so many of these colours are hues, rather than the original pigment with hardly any granulation/character, with literary zero standout multidimensional colours such as Daniel Smith and Roman Szmal produces but instead resemble Mijello Mission Gold - thank you Margot, I have been cured of the "want monster".
The palette is beautiful and your presentation completed it. I have never used this brand and will probably not purchase such an expensive set! I would like to try individual ones to add to my palette, but I think you said they are not available. Dreaming is wonderful and I dream after w m seeing your wonderful presentations. I am a painter who loves your work, my work is mine and color is my love. Thanks for brightening my day! Karen Dirmish, painter and learning
They're available in half pans from Jackson's Art Supplies in the UK and A Gallo's website, which restocks on the last Sunday of the month at 4pm European Standard Time.
I remember reading that the wallpapers and books from the Victorian era were highly toxic (the green ones that is). Amazing that our ancestors survived!
Good question! I do not for paints. I only adjust pricing according to the size of my paper or ground Supplies I consider an overall business overhead cost with the exception of very large parent sheets or canvas which I will bill to the client.

And off we go!
Some yummy colors in this line
I agree!
I cannot wait for mine to reach me!! Would you show us also what you painted with those colors??❤
It was the cat purr for me!! 😂😂😂
Where did you get the beautiful flowers in the vase?
It looks like a very cheerful palette. It's like the colors are smiling at you. If I worked wet I would want these. I wish they made colored pencils. I like all those colors. I do think it could use a few more yellows and pinks in that collection. That would be my only criticism.
It's an uplifting palette.
Would you be able to list the names of the paints that are your favorites i the. 48 a Gallo set pleases.
I dont even use watercolor like that but i gasped when you swatched that first yellow
Never heard if this brand before.. looks amazing
I enjoyed this video. Please include art history in your videos. Also when you talk about colors and suggest where to use them, you are doing us all a great favor.
Hope you’ll do some Monet-inspired or Matesse-inspired tutorials using these palette.
😍 They are stunning...but that's my electric bill and cell phone bill combined 😲 Lol. Maybe one day 😂 I watch all of your videos lol but I don't need to get the FOMO feelings at the moment 😂 I'll go watch a few of your older videos again to make up for it 😂
Well lucky me I went to check out the 48 set and it's on sale just now! I thought about waiting for my birthday, but it might not be on sale then! 😅
Arancione has the same pigment composition as Daniel Smith’s Aussie Red Gold.
Oooh thanks for the tip! I was too lazy to cross reference lol
@@Pointebrush Welcome! I believe Spectrum Art (or Art Spectrum, I could never get the order right), in Australia were the first to make this mix.
Xo!
This makes me so happy! I have a mug of Yorkshire Tea and snacks 😁
Your happiness makes me happy 🥹
I prefer PG Tips. 😊
@@shadowguard3578 as a Yorkshire gal, it's no contest for me 🤣
@@Mirrigold😂😂😂 I tried Taylor’s of Harrogate Yorkshire tea but it’s not for me. 😅
@@shadowguard3578 maybe not the same when you're not drinking it with Yorkshire water too, it's formulated for our hard water from memory 😁
I don't own any artist grade water colours because they so expensive over here but I love living viscerally through youtube and your one of the channels I watch I hope to buy some of our own south African grade artist paints soon which is more affordable for me thanks for making fun interactive videos
@enchantedcolours2023
Hi there, may I ask what brands of watercolor paint you have in South Africa? You've got me interested!
@KRCanetti we've got quite a few brands international and local brands I mostly use the local brands because they're much cheaper but still work good
@@enchantedcolours2023 Thank you for your reply.
Swatch-A-Palooza!!❤ 🧑🏻🎨🎨🥁
I love the names you are coming up with better than the maker🙀
Thank you. I want some of these. Maybe not 48 investment yet though. Where did you order these from.
💛🧡❤️💜💙💚🤎🖤
Great episode 🤍
Ooor SwatchApaloooza! 🎉
I don't even know what to say! Those blues are beyond any color blue I've seen! These paints seem to display themselves! It looks like you're just touching the paper and there's a natural ombre tendency for the paint. Actually that's probably you, Margo, making it look so easy!
How are you liking. a Gallo? I am hoping to order and wanted to see how they have been painting.💜
Great video!
Speaking of Swatchavaganzas - I would love to know the red lipsticks you always wear! You rock cool and warm undertones, so clearly you've used some colour theory to match them well with your complexion 🥰
What would be the names of the primary and secondary colors in terms of the names so u could save for them?
So I could save to purchase them
25:24 They did not include genuine cerulean because it has cobalt and A Gallo want to minimise the use of toxic materials.
You need a channel awatercolourist. Just sayin 😝 Love your knowledge. Thanks for sharing!
@@Pointebrush Welcome! I’m toying with the idea of a channel. Well, I’ve been toying with that idea for several months now 😂.
Swatchapalooza!!!!
Swatchmageddon!
This is the winner! OMG Swatchamageddon.. I love it! 🤣🤣🤣
What paintbrush are you using?
Love the sponge bob cameo-LOL
Thanks for the information about Gallo website, I’ll try to check it out! Karen Dirmish Elmhurst Ill
Swatchapalooza! 😂
🤣🤣
I remember reading that the wallpapers and books from the Victorian era were highly toxic (the green ones that is). Amazing that our ancestors survived!
Swatchaganza!!!
SwatchAvaganzaaaaa!
I'm curious; When you use $300.00 paints to create a peice, do you increase the asking price of that peice to cover your costs?
Good question! I do not for paints. I only adjust pricing according to the size of my paper or ground Supplies I consider an overall business overhead cost with the exception of very large parent sheets or canvas which I will bill to the client.
@@Pointebrush awesome, thanks.
