Hi Rev. Rogers, what do you think about the person of Melchizedech himself? Was he an appearance of Christ Himself or was he a man simply typifying Christ? I have always thought Melchizedech was a man typifying Christ, but could it be that Christ Himself appeared as Melchizedech? Thanks.
Melchizedek HAS to be God himself. Paul tells us in Galatians 4 that the Jerusalem on earth is of the bond woman and of Sinai but the Jerusalem above is free and mother of us all. Since Jesus is after the order Melchizedek, if his kingdom was Salem on earth, it would be of bondage and therefore no better than the priesthood of Aaron. Melchizedek MUST king of the heavenly Jerusalem (check out Hebrews 12). A specific criticism against the Aaron priests was they could not continue to be priests because they…died. If, Melchizedek died, then it is no better than that of Aaron. Since Jesus is after the order of Melchizedek, the argument looses power if Melchizedek died. Therefore, the fact that Melchizedek’s “nor end of life” must be LITERALLY true and interpreted rather than allegorical. Melchizedek is God, Jesus is the name by which are saved. This is not taught in many churches because of their wicked adaptation to old testament scriptures. Melchizedek being God himself has serious implications in regards to the scriptural basis for the practices of men. One such adaptation is the continuation of the Aaronic priests to the clergy of the New Testament. lol. I heard from a Catholic convert from Judaism. Let’s put it this way, if Jesus is after the order of Melchizedek, which he is, and high priests, and that sons of priests become priests, we are buried with Jesus in his death and risen with him in resurrection of life. Melchizedek was unique. We're not told of any other priest that has no beginning or end. We're told Jesus had no beginning or end that means Jesus, God the Son or the Angel of the LORD ( All being Jesus in my mind) would have to be the priest Abraham met or their would be 2 priests of Melchizedek bumping into each other because both have no end of days. That is the more convoluted and inelegant answer. But if Jesus was Melchizedek the whole thing is neat and tied up with a bow.
The Levitical priests had to be a descendant of the line of Aaron . This was inaugurated by our Father such that with the passing decades our Father could put the " exclusive to the duties of his Son" on the actions being performed by those priests . The Melchizedek priesthood without ancestory and beginning of days speaks to the saved living on the earth made new where ancestory and beginning of days no longer has significance for service to our Father and uplifting of all individuals is now their focus .They (our world as Jesus leads out) have become priests of the Most High God to the rest of our Father's creation . If you look up the couple of references to Melchizedek in the old testament you can see the plausability of this reasoning . At no time does Paul declare that Jesus taught him that Jesus had become a Melchizedek priest. All the functions of the holy place were performed by that priesthood descendants of Aaron . The crown on the altar of incense belongs to Jesus. The crown on the boarder on the table of shew bread belongs to Jesus. The crown on the table of shew bread belongs to our Father .Jesus has the responsibility of overseeing the whole of creation lives according to His Father's will. Melchizedek first appears on the seen at Abraham's return from triumph . In eternities future in the whole of creation such conflicts will not occur as the necessity of agape love to all will be preached to individuals by the forementioned Melchizedek priesthood . In eternity future those who don't comply are exterminated to prevent a world deteriorate to the society we live in today. Do not be afraid of throwing out Paul. Sorry Mr. Rogers, but the Bible does not say Melchizedek was a type of Christ. The Bible is very clear that Jesus is Melchizedek in the Old Testament.
