I saw him and his Quartet at Symphony Center in Chicago 2 years ago and he was jaw-droppingly outstanding. Jazz manouche completely changed my thinking regarding music. I was blown away by the strumming, soloing, and brilliant chord changes.

In the last two years I've heard so many versions of this tune, but this one is my favorite. The Angelo's dynamic (not the speed) and accent is what sets it apart from versions from other great guitarists as Joscho and Stochelo.
And mind (fantasy, briliance and fire,) too...😜 I often listen 3 waltzes together and it makes me excited, full of power and energy...😜 Thang God for Angelo's talent

Wow, he is not only technically masterful, but lyrically impeccable as well. I am going to turn my guitars into toothpicks and chopsticks (except for the metal dobro, of course) and hopefully I'll get more use out of them.

I was at this show at DjangoFest Northwest in Langley, Washington, on Whidbey Island, as I have been for every festival there since 2003. The base player is Simon Planting. He's been there for every DFNW since the first one in 2001, and he usually accompanies a few of the acts each year. He's been the Director of DFNW since the original Director, Nick Lehr passed away 3 or 4 years ago. Simon is my favorite Gypsy Jazz bassist. He's originally from the Netherlands, but lives in San Francisco now.
Django actually did play on an electric later in his life (you can find some of it here in RUclips if you search "electric Django"). I'm no expert, but I think gypsy jazz describes both of what you mentioned and then some (the first thing that comes to mind is rhythm). There is a lot of tradition behind this music.
very very true.also if you take djangos music and listen to other jazz greats wether it be sax player or pianist it your inniovative musical responses will become unique and when youll hum a tune youll notice that your own notes and improv start to come out

He's currently working with John Jorgenson. He's tall but not as enormous as he looks in this clip. Must be the angle of the shot and that everyone else is sitting. Funny statement though!
You'll find that it is essentially a style, see for example how well Ludovic Beier blends in with a totally different instrument. However, Gipsy jazz guitarists tend to play on replicas of the famed Selmer McCafferi, which was used by Django and other players of the time. Owning one of the (very) rare remaining original Selmer guitars would have some put a contract on your head, uless you can make it sing like Angelo does :-)
