In a series without Shota Imanaga or Justin Steele, the Chicago Cubs starting pitchers allowed 0 runs against the Brewers. Wesneski, Taillon, and Assad. Mind blowing stuff. Excellent recap Randy. Go Cubs.
Our starting pitching has been impressive as of late. Imagine Justin Steele being our fifth starter at this point in time! Assad proves that pitching isn't about velocity and spin (as the analytics crowd believes and which sends hurlers to the IL). Having command of his pitches is a key part of his success. I wish the Cubs would focus more on that. As for Palencia, his outing today is the best I have ever seen him pitch. If he can pitch like this consistently he will be quite a weapon coming out of the pen. If Belli moves to first base and Busch becomes the full-time DH, the defense will get dramatically better and Belli will stay healthy. Then I believe the Cubs will start some long winning streaks and pull away from the rest of the NL Central. GO CUBS GO!
21 up 14 down.... We might of just survived the tsunami of injuries, I will take this gladly. We have 3 of our best coming back. This could be a really fun summer. Go CUBS.
Bellinger needs to play 1st base so he can't crash into the centerfield wall and miss so much time--last year and this year. The best players need to stay on the field.
