Yesss! You are amazing. I just found your channel. I've been watching homesteading videos for years. I love how to the point your videos are, and full of good info!
The time lapse of processing and talking with friends was beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. So full of community and honest living and being with others. ❤
Clover is gorgeous!!! I caught her cameo in the year in review! That was such a wonderful gift! In so happy Calamity's genetics can carry on for you! Thanks for sharing and stay safe!!❤
I've made cream of mushroom soup before because someone at Thanksgiving is allergic to MSG and it's hard to find a soup that doesn't have it in it. It's not hard at all to make! I like that you get together with others and teach how to process the animals.
I recently discovered your channel and absolutely love it. You explain everything is such a clear and calm way, nothing over the top, just being yourself. We hope to get into rabbits and goats this year and your channel is such an absolute wealth of information. So.. Thank you!!
I love that you have people over to teach! There is an upcoming class on sourdough at a local historical Starr family home, I’m excited and hope I can sing up in time.
I forgot to mention I am so impressed with the goat butchering. I wish we lived closer so we could learn from you. How much was the hanging weight on that goat? @@SageandStoneHomestead
Clover is a beautiful doe! Hope you get some doelings from her for your herd. Really like her personality; she looks to be calm & quiet & also loving attention. She's not Calamity, but she deserves her own place in the herd & in all our hearts!! Great video! God bless!
So happy to see Sweet Clover, she's beautiful and I'm sure she will fit in wonderfully! The ham and potato casserole with cream of mushroom soup as the sauce, looked delicious! Always great to see the sharing of knowledge so people can learn to be more self sufficient, thanks again for sharing all that you do Heather!
It's a very liberating and rewarding thing to have something to do with otherwise unsellable animals. It allows us to expand as we desire and nourish our families!! I know you know how awesome that is! Hugs Kerri!
I'm wondering, too about the blood draws if the angle of the head (specifically the nose of the goat) plays a part in how easily accessed the vein would be? Having them in a head catch like that one was super to see - wondering if it telescopes up and down for the different heights of the goats. On processing day - Looks like everything went really well (even with the temproarily escaped rooster). And a big, but gentle welcome to Clover! She does seem a bit timid, but hard to tell if that's just because she's in a new place or because that's her personality. Looking forward to watching her blossom... (hehehe on the tiny pun)
My friend said she isn't as outgoing as Calamity and she is right. She definitely loves to be near people and seeks people out. She likes to be next to me which is nice. Twice today already I took a double take at her thinking she was Calamity, its comforting to have her ♥
The casserole looks awesome. I have to try that in winter. Still too hot to cook at the moment. I haven an air fryer/oven that I use now that it is hot. The steak is nice and tender. It doesn't put out much heat when I use the airfryer compare to the big oven. Thank you for sharing. Love and Blessings to you all. ❤❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏🙏 Doris, Penrith 🇦🇺🦘
I'm in the process of figuring it out. I've tried to "tan" skins for a couple years and the hair falls out. I got a "tanning paste" to use this time and if it works well I'll share!
@@SageandStoneHomestead we have a buck and doe combination that give us steel tipped agoutis (I am slowly learning about color genetics with rabbits). Any agouti pattern disqualifies a NZ from being showable. I think they’re beautiful and I would love to make use of our rabbits’ furs.
He really is. My mentor Rachel gave him a lot of complements which feels nice since I have kept numerous daughters from him. He throws my favorite udder and a wide backend, that's all I know haha
They are very flavorful and those used to store bought chicken would probably not like it because it has flavor people describe as "gamey". We like that.
SOOOO many questions! Where did you get your head catch for the goats? What are you putting on the rabbit skin? What do you do with the fur once it's tanned? How long do you grow out your goats before you process?
Yea! Clover! I’m so happy for you guys and the fact that she’s bred…more genetics to play with lol How is the Guinea foul? I always wonder what they would taste like but I could never eat our gangster crew-they are so bossy with all about birds…and they are the alarm system lol
I would love more details on blood testing. We have looked into it multiple times but I'm overwhelmed by just not fully knowing all the steps. What lab do you use? How is it packaged to ship? Any paperwork to include? All the details!
I would love a goat harvest/processing video. We are about to try it ourselves. We have always paid to have it done for us while we assisted. Now we need to do it with the tools we have on hand. Any advice?
We plan to make a really involved video on this just trying to figure it out with the RUclips terms and conditions. Even when framed as educational they punish us when posting too graphically by stopping promotion of all of our content for a good 4 months. It's happened in the past and it's really disheartening.
What is that little metal goat head holder called? I need one. I looked up blood draw station and goat restraint with no luck. Thanks. I struggled to get blood this last time to check for pregnancy on a doe that had been attacked. That little do hickey sure would make it easier.
It took me forever and many different search terms to find it! This is exactly what we bought: www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/weaver-leather-steel-gate-attachment-head-piece-1215667

No idea! we didn't have a scale out there. He is currently resting in the fridge in his own box so I can weigh it when we go to package it up.
Good morning Heather. ❤❤❤

I’m so excited about Clover! I’ve been heartbroken over Calamity. 😊

awwwwww!!!! What a great video! So happy for your great news! :D
Thank you!! 😊
Well, that wasn't the surprise I thought I saw.😂
I'm pretty sure a lot of people thought I was pregnant. NOPE it's just sourdough season haha
@@SageandStoneHomestead, I didn't necessarily think you looked like you were pregnant, I just thought I saw an ultrasound pic on the fridge.😂
OH LOL! That's funny! No ultrasounds on the fridge I don't think!
@@SageandStoneHomestead, I even screenshotted a picture and then zoomed in to be sure.😂😂😂

Clover is beautiful. What s lovely gift!
Have you tried eating guinea? I'm interested in your review.... I've heard mixed reviews....
Yes! We love it and think they taste exactly like a giant quail but textured more like Chicken. Quail is a very soft meat.
They are very flavorful and those used to store bought chicken would probably not like it because it has flavor people describe as "gamey". We like that.
I haven't had time to rewatch the live but Clover is beautiful! She has such a pretty face!
Love her! ♥
I would love to attend a processing class the next time you schedule one!!
Okay!! We have 3 boys left that need to get just a little bigger to be worth it! :)
Ah, clover was taken by a goat! Lol! I was thinking the rabbit 🤦♀️
Surprise!! I actually forgot about Clover the rabbit...

So sweet so have Clover in the heard and very generous of your mentor. Those casserole dishes are beautiful! Can I ask where did you get the from?
Both are Paula deen brand I believe! I have had them a long time. The blue one is a roaster pan technically!

Oh but a good book is "basic butchery of livestock and game". Diagrams and walk-throughs in there! If you've done rabbits goats are built the same.
