    I live in Minnesota and am so jealous of such a beautiful winter garden. A tip on the broccoli and cauliflower is that even if you don't get the heads from them, you can still use the leaves an stems. I am seeing that used in dishes more and more. They are great sources for nutrients.

    What a beautiful garden! You can tell that you have a lot of european influence in the design. I love how you are extremely busy, live in a major city, but you show that it is possible to plant a garden. Can't wait for more. Thanks ;)

I also have a small koi pond with some lily pads and some lotuses too! I also have a few cherry blossom trees around too.

I've never heard of purple artichokes. How cool is that? Could you please share a artichoke dip or artichoke spinach dip recipe? That would be fun to watch. Hello Beth! I am so happy to have discovered your channels here on youtube about two weeks ago! I already tried some of your recipes and they were absolutely delicious! I especially enjoy the meal plans, where you show what to cook from the appetizer to dessert. Thank you for showing your beautiful garden as well. I also tried to plant my own veggies, but it does take a lot of work, (and water since i live in SoCal too). Please keep up this wonderful work you are doing and sharing all these great recipes and gardening tips with us! I LOVE what you do, so a big THANK YOU and know i appreciate it all! PS. One thing i would really appreciate to see is how you guys created your backyard (from beginning to end and the products you used - very interested in how you killed all the grass in the backyard to install the gravel) and also how tall are the planting areas. Thank you in advance and i look forward to your videos!

    Beth I love your garden and I can't wait to start following your new channel. I'm in love with your current Chanel Entertaining with Beth , I didn't have a mother growing up or anyone to show me the basics and you have taught me so much and have given me the confidence that I need in my cooking journey. I have always wanted to learn how to garden and now I feel with the instruction from your videos I can have the confidence to succeed. Thank you Beth
    -Stephanie
    Ps.. What are the vines growing on your fence? They are beautiful and look like they help create a nice natural privacy boarder.

    • @InBethsGarden
      @InBethsGarden  9 лет назад +1

      steph Gordon aww thanks Stephanie, your comment just made my day :) So happy I have given you confidence in the kitchen and now with this channel you'll have confidence in the garden too! :) The plants you see on the fence in the opening shot is actually a large ficus hedge, and yes they give great privacy and can grow very tall very fast! So they are great for privacy. The vine growing on the back and side garden walls is "creeping fig". It loves to creep! (Hence the name) and will grow over any wall and stick to it quite fiercely. So it's great to soften an ugly wall or just to add more greenery and softness to a garden. :) Hope that helps!

    You have a beautiful garden. Good luck with the blueberries. I've been growing them for years, but I've had a hard time with them, but I keep trying. One of the easiest things for me to grow are raspberries. There is nothing better than going out in my yard, and eating fresh raspberries from the canes.

    • @InBethsGarden
      @InBethsGarden  9 лет назад +1

      Really oh how lucky you are! I would love to have raspberries. I tried them once and they fried up! Ha! I think it's too hot here :( The thing with blueberries is they really love acidic soil. Next time try dumping a little cooled coffee grounds in their soil, they love that :)

    Whaoooo I'm blown away. I'm bound to love this channel. Please do a video on growing the perfect juicy, sweet watermelon. We moved to New Zealand from Michigan, and the climate is much different. But very similar to Cali.

    • @InBethsGarden
      @InBethsGarden  9 лет назад

      tinapitian Ah yes! Watermelon is fun to grow....but it takes OVER! It's needs a lot of space and the real secret is to not over water it or it gets too watery and not sweet enough. Reducing the water will make them really sweet! And these are very easy to grow from seeds. I really love the yellow watermelons. They are great!

    I wanted to start off by saying how much I enjoy your cooking channel! So I was thrilled to see that you have now started this garden channel as well:) You are truly inspiring! Your backyard garden is so gorgeous!! I would love to know how long it has taken you to get it to be so lush & green?! How many acres do you have? Did you have to sit down and plan out the layout? Also I have pets, so how would you suggest going about keeping them out of my Garden? Thanks again for all of your recipes!!
    -Jamie

    • @InBethsGarden
      @InBethsGarden  9 лет назад +1

      Aww thanks Jamie! So glad you enjoy the channels! Well it has taken us some time to get the garden to where it is today, about 5 years. You can see the dramatic Before/After pictures in this video I did for Kin Community's channel ruclips.net/video/xvcOzhXNSTk/видео.html it's about 1/2 acre so not a ton of property but pretty large for a major city, but we are out on the boonies a bit which is why we loved this property. It's the small house on a big lot that no body wanted, and those are my favorite kind of places :) Because you can do some much with it! Thanks for watching and for your continued support! More garden videos post this weekend. Stay tuned!! xx

    Make lemongrass drink. Bruised the lemon grass. Boil in a pot of water. Add sugar syrup or honey for a refreshing summer drink. So nice!

    Thanks for the beautiful video Beth. It gave me a much-needed shot in the arm today. I live in Canada...more or less "above" NY state. For Feb our temperatures have not ONCE raised above 0C (32F I think)......everything here is still frozen solid and covered with FEET of snow. We can only dream of gardens all lush and green. It was fun seeing what's in your garden and what is coming along. Thanks

    This is amazing, and your garden is so organized and big! I wish I could have a garden, but I'm pretty sure I would be too lazy to take care of it.

    Beth, a great thing to grow on the side is Grape Leaves! I can teach you how to make the middle eastern dish called "Dolma" (grape leaves).

      Its a Secret Family Recipe! BUT since I watch your channel almost every single day I would love to teach you some of our home made recipes! If you really want to learn how to make these let me know and we can get in further contact with each other! Whats also great about them is you can just use veggies or add any type of meat you have on hand also its healthy because you get many of those beautiful veggies your growing in your garden in this dish! Hope to teach you soon!

    OMG! THIS VIDEO WAS PERFECT! I love that I got to see your garden in action! Seriously, I've never seen such beautiful blueberry flowers (they kind of remind me of translucent berries themselves) and those gorgeous artichoke plants! I've actually never seen them before and they look like ferns! I heard that broccoli gets sweeter when there's frost so maybe growing them in late summer might put the broccoli in mid winter? I dunno. Anyway, thanks for sharing and this was a real treat! And your herb garden looks so cool! Do you have any tips for keeping the herbs from taking over a plot? I know my oregano has done that with a patch of stuff in the corner of my garden.

      Oh yes Oregano is a creeper! I basically keep herbs like Oregano, Mint, and any other "travelers" isolated in their OWN pots or planters and that way everyone is happier! :)
