Congrats to serge for getting on the CAG. I suggest he immediately moves to get Wheeler banned.
God I love Wheeler so much, he's so cool
He keeps Deal’in and Wheel’in
my DU prerelease promo was a German Foil Fyndhornelfen.
Is this wheelers alt account?
God I love Wheeler so much, he's so cool
@@josephmanion3192 I wish I had that much big pp energy
I can’t believe wheeler backwards long jumped through the Tomb of Annihilation so many times in a game
he has to be a tabaxi fighter mont with insane spees to run through the whole dungeon in just one turn
I don't understand why he chose that one each time.
@@99wattr89 that's the point of his deck, he's trying to do damage to everyone fast
Yo, "Cheating requires intent, my dude" is a pretty solid button
I thought they were serious that Serge got on the CAG and had a moment in my head where i went "This man went from putting Kitchen Finks into his deck to being an advisor to the format. We all need to follow our dreams."
Oh my gosh I've had a dungeon deck bouncing around in my head for a while , but Wheeler's deck just showed me how bonkers fun it might be
I thought about it recently too. There aren't too many spicy brews online, but I found 2 that I like, an Isshin build and a Rafiq build and I am torn.
That wheeler turn was the kinda stuff people tell commander stories about @27:48
James taking out Wheeler's commander AND Adam's mirror. Chef's kiss - I am here for it! Welcome back James!
We were all laughing at Nelson fo omitting so many commander staples until we saw he included the most important commander card of all 😆
Love that bit at the end
Wheeler: "Wait is yarok out?"
Everyone: "no no no"
Big "oh for a second there i was worried" vibes
I love how everyone was shocked when James cut wheeler off on his introduction bit
Serge lost his angel forever? Guess that makes him
Sans Seraph
The irony of James being a better angel deck then serge was hilarious
I love how Serge is SO earnest it comes across as sarcastic.
Only Wheeler could take a terrible Azorius commander in one of the least supported mechanics and make an absolute powerhouse deck!
Actually dungeon is incredibly strong, people are just sleeping on it. its also one of my favorite mechanics.
@@Ariaoff.Limits I agree, plus they printed a lot of support now in Baldur
found another one of wheeler's alt accounts
Dungeons and specifically Initiative are extremely strong. The problem is how time consuming and fiddly they can be
Neoform Hostage Taker into Massacre Girl with quadrupel ETBs on board has got to be the funniest board wipe I've seen.
The commander deck james made is sweet, thats such a cool way to build marchesa
The real surprise of this game was that Serge didn't follow up Angel of Vitality with Kitchen Finks in the 2nd best Angel deck at the table.
Firja and Hama are trapped in a mirror somewhere, passing a joint.
My boy Adam playing my boy Yarok, exactly what I wanted!
And mirror of life trapping!
I have a strange relationship with EDH gameplay -- I'll watch a bit, but usually just to see what commanders are being played and how. I was fully prepared to do the same here, as I've done with previous episodes by LRR.
...But then Wheeler played Hama Turbo-Dungeons. A deck I've been looking to build myself.
That mirror was spectacular.
i love the energy these guys got
Definitely enjoy James on the commander streams! More please!
Amazing games. Love whenever that mirror comes 'round.
Graveyard synergies need answers because otherwise those decks go crazy unimpeded. Graveyard hate is reasonable, especially stapled on a creature.
A bit late 'pro-tip' - the Commander Legends Baldur's Gate bundle had an XL version of the initiative dungeon as a token (about the size of the planechase cards), could be useful for games like this.
We need more Fridays per week 😎
If you exile your commander with the mirror and put it back into the CZ, then the next time the mirror triggers, or when it goes away, as long as you havent re-cast your cmdr since then, you still get it back. and if not, then it's safely back in the CZ for later. It's a weird thing with the rules where the card cares about what it exiled, not where that exiled card ended up
Radiant Solar is busted, i (ab)use it in my Abdel, Gorion's ward deck, every bounce i do with my commander i clear at least one dungeon
it is a busted card for sure!
This video was golden I loved every part
Man I wish giada was rw or bw. Such a good angel commander.
"Tokens but nothing smaller than 5/5." That's almost my Ghired deck! 4/4 with trample is my minimum for inclusion. Some things that make 5/5 Wurms. But 3/3 Beasts? Not good enough. Out. 5/5 Dragons? No trample, no in deck. (Though mainly that's there as an Achilles Heel, I deliberately have no flyers or reach or anti-flying hate, as a personal decision.)
I have an entire deck where the premise is using Brago to blink a mirror of life trapping to exile stuff forever. So much artifact removal is tied to creatures that putting felidar guardian under it can protect it and set up the trap where opponent casts something like acid slime and misses because of that blink
At 1:19:20 when Serge asks a question, "Naturally" would of been perfect 😆
"Would /have/" would have been perfect. :P
I want to say that it felt like Adam's deck did not stack up to the others, but at the same time he completely obliterated Wheeler's commander, which is something that I had not seen before and he made my favorite plays in these games.
Yarok dose double the mirror trigger for everyone
I think Serge could do partners with Akroma and Ravos. It would give him some extra beat down and recursion with Orzhov angels
Alright, soulblade renewer and it's partner? No ravenous chupacabra? Bounce lands? That yarok deck needs some serious work lol
Adam’s Angel deck is so cool
Paul you always right on time
Rampage of the Valkyries was in the normal kaldheim set
57:38 Nobody enjoys Pelaka Wurm in a blue black control deck
Yarok dungeons seems like it would actually be a fun deck to play.
2:30:00 its the superman mirror banishing commanders to "The Phantom Zone" *60's spooky voice*
2:43:18 yes I agree 🤣
Same wave length 😂
Next time Wheeler plays this, he'll only go to the Lost Mines of OnlyPhandelvers
How long was the horse joke that it took to convince the rc to let wheeler into the cag?
cant believe they left that mirror interaction in - like thats actually damning for a product intended for commander, casting your commander leaves it open to being exiled forever,....
Serge straight up lying to the table and chat. "I don't like playing games where I say no to my opponents." Dude plays stax with a smile on his face.
Classic and nice.
Paper is always my fav
Is that the yarok deck nellson and wheeler talked about?
Yeppp. If you listen to Shivam's last Casual Magic episode with Nelly as special guest, they actually discuss a couple card ideas for the deck for a few minutes, even!
hey adam, i'll have you know my boy vicious battlerager is one of the best cards in pauper right now!
serge really put on the training wheels bc he felt so bad about his commander game 1. I respect the shit out of lowering the power level of his plays just to try to match the rest of the table so everyone could have some fun. also NELSON WTF
Is Wheeler allowed to venture into the undercity @ 32:40? Not sure if I'm missing something.
Not only are they allowed to, they have to. The initiative moves you through a dungeon if you're already in one, but if you're not in a dungeon you have to start the undercity.
Wheeler shouldn't have lost his commander in to exile - his gargoyle entered after his commander and before james destroyed the mirror
Pffft, Adam's deck not having a Sol Ring is ridiculously funny.
Wouldn't Wheeler's commander have come back in the second game after the mirror came back? It was exiled with the mirror, and the card doesn't specify as long as the mirror is around. So, it would have come back when someone cast a creature after Adam got it back, unless I am missing something?
No, the mirror is a different game object the second time. It's the same with reanimation effects.
1:05:18 i really wanted james to just slam a marton stromgald lol
To be fair, sol ring isnt good in every deck, I dont have one in my feather deck because it does more or less nothing for me there.
Okay but yarok is one of the many decks were sol ring is fantastic
1:28:00 Could Adam have gotten rid of Linvala if he used Hostage Taker on his own Mirror?
Hostage taker can only exile things an opponent controls. It was an errata that was made right after the card released because wotc made an oopsie and without that clause you make an infinite loop by casting two hostage takers exiling eachother
All go rhyme
Spoiler: the angel deck wins
I'm worried people are gonna aggro me when I play dungeons now lol
1:42:28 And that there is why the Mirror is a HORRIBLE, kill on sight commander card. The format isn't about removing commanders from the game, and despite it looking fun, I can't justify ever running one.
o7 Dongle the Bongle.
Couldn't they just have the commanders go back to the command zone when the mirror triggers? it's no different then a oblivion ring.
You choose at the moment the card would go into exile. So yes, they could decide to not have the mirror nap the commander. However, if they do let it take the commander, it would come back into play without needing to be cast when the next cast creature spell happens. Once they've decided to let the commander go into exile though, they cannot change their mind later.
German FOIL baby!!!
So sad/fun to see Adam's body language incessantly crying and begging for the game to stop for 1 hour straight. Poor snoozy boy needed to take a nap real quick but the game went: "So yeah I take the initiative", "Draw three and scry 2", "I venture into the dungeon", "Me too", "I'm the monarch now!", "Tap 7, I cast Serra", "Boardwipe, let's return to turn 0 real quick", "So I do this, and this, and that and also becuase of this I can do this, and that". Adam, I just want to let you know that I didn't pay much attention to the game, all I've done was feeling pain for your advanced state of sleep-deprivation.
I'd like to get a bit of a ruling, if you would please.
Taking The Initiative and Venture Into The Dungeon are two different mechanics, yes?
If I understand correctly, you cannot use the Venture Into The Dungeon mechanic if you are Venturing Into The Undercity and vice versa.
Did the ruling change where you could venture further into the Undercity using Venture Into The Dungeon ability if you were currently running the Undercity Dungeon?
@harwa - Thank you for clearing that up for me.
Paul's call on the Mirror of Life's Trapping seems correct
Venture May be undersupported, but Radiant Solar is so busted.
Yeah ngl that card’s insane in the right scenario (and there are quite a few good scenarios)
Why Wheeler collects german cards?
tl;dr they're more difficult to get than your average card that isn't just in a "you gotta spend more money" kind of way.
I don't remember when/where it was explained but for a lot of people who have been collecting for a while the prospect of collecting cards that are just expensive doesn't really feel like an achievement. Foreign language foils, especially of older cards, are something you can't always just buy online so they feel much more like achievements to search for and get. Like you gotta go to vendors at conventions a lot more, pick them up from friends who are traveling, search through smaller sellers, etc. And if it's your "brand" to collect a certain language, then it makes it more impressive because you were specifically looking for that foil German Vindicate from original Apocalypse, not just any old Vindicate.
@@tzarl I know that Wheeler collects one of every card, so maybe getting cards in german is cheaper?
@@estebanrodriguez5409 Ehh, not really from my experuence. Foreign language cards don't tend to differ all that much in price when they're sold in the same place as English cards. The only time they'll potentially be cheaper is if you are physically going to that country to buy cards, and even then the cost to fly there offsets any savings you might have. It really only is a deal if you are already going to that country and happen to have time to look for magic cards.
He does speak it, a little. He's fairly rusty if I recall, but he can read it reasonably well. I think he just likes the language, I don't know if he's got family ties or anything.
Guys. You can put down cards without actively trying to make a slapping sound against the table.
Does James always seem so pissy? I just found the channel and haven't seen him much but he seems very whiney about stuff and the way he throws people's stuff around doesn't seem to be like being there.
Been checking out different magic channels on youtube recently looking for a good one since ive been getting into EDH more, unfortunately one of you have a man bun and one of you is wearing sunglasses inside, so i guess ill keep looking.
What a relief
